I'll be doing a hype stream that anyone is free to join of City Folk every day till NL is out. Anyone with city folk is free to share friend codes with and join in if they want, and we had a decently fun time in chat too.

I'll start tomorrow's stream at 5pm EST (2PM PST and 9PM GMT). Luckily since I have everything setup it won't take an hour+ to get the ball rolling tomorrow.

Well, I know a lot of people like Mario Galaxy, but I'm one of the few that didn't care for it much due to the planet walking stuff so it's not just a Animal Crossing thing for me! I can get by just fine, I just prefer the world to be flat like it is in real life.

I don't think so. My town is called Arcadia and it has never been referred to as Arcadia Town. You have can have a name with a maximum of 8 characters, I believe, so if you want to name it -Town, you will have to think of a word with 4 characters. Like 'Lewd'.

Have you visited any towns? Does your 3DS profile name show up when interacting or is it all just the name of the character you make? Because I could see that getting kinda confusing.

I do agree though, I prefer the GCN's flat town... but I hated how it was sectioned off... I always assumed the rolling town was a wild world thing and wouldn't make it to other iterations... bleh. I'll live though.

I think it's the name of your character. I visited electroplankton's town and it showed his real name, but I have no idea what his Mii is called, haha. DrForester was shown by his character's name too when he visited me.

Someone was asking earlier in the thread that I'm curious about. I tried looking for videos of this online showing the step by step process of inviting someone to your town (not dream town).

You can only allow one person into your town at the same time, I assume. They can't come in until you "invite" them correct? I remember the two guards at WW but I didn't bother with that at all since I knew no one playing it. I assume you talk to the guard to let this player through. And there's a delay where the visiting player get notification that he/she gets a pass into the town and goes there. Then on your game, you get notice that the visiting player had arrived.

I'm assuming that's exactly how its going to play out as?

No, it's far from that. What you do is walk up to the Train Station and "open your gate". Once your gate is open, you're connected online. Then at any time until you close the gate, anyone on your friends list can freely enter your town. Of course, you're notified. They won't just appear out of nowhere. But you don't manually approve them or anything.

I haven't been in my Gamecube town in forever. I wonder if I even can still find the memory card...

On a side note, I have discovered Pokemon Randomizer. I think I found something to bide the time until the 9th.

Actually, there's one new feature in this game which lets you control it slightly, but that's about it. It's possible to open your town only to Best Friends. Your character can maintain a separate list of up to 32 Best Friends.

Unfortunately yes. New Leaf doesn't seem to make use of the Join Game in Progress thing that Mario Kart uses.

Basically you walk up to the Train Station and tell the monkey that you want to head out of town. You'll connect to Nintendo Network and be presented with a list of all towns open to visit on your friends list. Touch the one you want to join and you'll taken to the town by the train.

Well, you'll have to be Drago because no one is going to recognize you on the list by whichever name you pick. You'll have to let the others know beforehand that its you.

Agreed. I didn't realize that it'd be the case. Now I understand. There's a 8 character limit correct? I remember JetBlackPanda had to change his a bit.
 
I'll try my bestest to visit as many towns as I can. Hopefully my town will be worth it for some to visit. I don't know yet if I'll be very involved with flowers as some people plan to be, but we'll see.

Yay! That game is too fun. I tried one of the "K" boards, and I'm like "nope" after I died 10 times lol.
 
My name's gonna be either Andy or Andrew, town name is going to be Fanfare, Portland or Colombia.
I have decided on a face, though. Open eyes w/ rosy cheeks. It defaults to my eye color in the US version so I won't have to wait for the contacts.
 
I guess I can call myself Coldman. That's close enough to an actual name to work.

...I'm not fond of using online handles in mostly single-player games. :x

I'm using my irl name/nickname because I'll be playing with some irl friends. I don't think it should be too confusing, eheh.
