Yes, it does. A few days after the Japanese release people already had Christmas/Easter item sets and complete Main Streets, IIRC.

It only really punishes you with weeds and rotten turnips. Neither are really that big of a deal.

Btw, the island is pretty much the best thing that ever happened to AC. They take pretty much every collection mechanic in the game and turn it into minigames. You can win medals with those games and you can use those medals to get special prizes you can only win on the island.

Literally hours and hours of fun, and you can go to the island with a maximum of 3 other friends. I can't go into specifics on the multiplayer part just yet, but I can tell you guys that pretty much every single one of you that loves the collect-a-thons this game has to offer will get hooked on those minigames.

Pokémon had time traveling? Oh yeah. But it always never was a good quick way to change the time based things like trading Pokémon from other carts.

Animal Crossing has always respected the opinions and gameplay of others. Its a very tollerent game. It just puts weeds all over your town.

Does anyone else here treat all of their villagers nicely? Even the cranky and snooty types? I just figure that there's no reason to treat any villagers poorly, and if you treat them well they usually give you free stuff.

I'll treat them nicely if I want them to stay. Otherwise they get pitfalls and the squeeky hammer of disdain.
