Sonic Lost Worlds Debut Trailer [Up: Wii U + 3DS screenshots]

Do you guys suppose the Galaxy team had a hand in this? regarding exclusivity deal and all.

i'm gonna assume so until i see the credits / iwata asks. the similarities are just too much to say otherwise. nintendo must've found yet another way to use that galaxy level editor

The IGN guy mentioned there would be more later today. I wonder if they got some hands-on time with this or something?

Maybe just a press release with more info.

Sega said we were supposed to get the info May 29 which leads me to believe IGN either broke the embargo or they got the exclusive trailer reveal. I'm expecting previews tomorrow.

I don't even like Sonic games, and I want to play this.

That said, the camera angles could be a deal-breaker if that is actual footage.

It really is, the only good thing about that mess is its soundtrack, yeah I don't get SonicGaf obsession over it either.

I don't think that it's "crappy," but I just can't stand the floaty jumping in Colors. It makes sense when you're doing imprecise 3D platforming, but feels horrible in predominately 2D stages. Wasn't a fan of Wisp powers, either.

Does anybody know the real reason for why characters in Japanese fiction sometimes run like that? I always thought it was because they were supposedly running so fast that their arms are pushed behind them by the wind. I would love to learn the real history.

This is something I approve of, actually. I really like the idea of running on the walls, which is something they should've done earlier to complement drifting.

And yeah, I think they should take out some of the boosters, myself. Overabundance of boosters and springs (outside of Spring Yard and CD level design) is not something I've ever liked.

This. That one booster on the bridge was outta place.

wtf

This game looks much better than that oversped crap.

Dafuq? Unleashed was just right when it came to day time stages, and could've been improved to perfection. It literally redefined 3D Sonic.

It's kind of weird seeing how Sonic uses licensed music so much.

Not really. The music is also apart of Sonic's "cool" factor and what makes his games so damn hype. Gotta stay funky.

I always thought it was weird that no one never took notice to it. Especially when it came to the 90s, his music was definitely inspired.

inb4 Michael Jackson.

Oh man, this looks great. I was expecting another retread of the Unleashed/Colors/Generations formula, not that it would have been unwelcome. But it looks like the first honest effort since SA1 to nail the Sonic design philosophy in 3D.

HYPE

If the 3DS version isn't another Rush clone by Dimps that's reason to be excited as well.

Sonic Generations PC is available on Amazon for $9.99 right now as part of the Sonic Action Pack if anyone is interested.

Rich IGN said:
So far an overwhelmingly positive response to Sonic: Lost World debut footage/trailer. What I saw looked really promising too.

Maybe I'm reading into this tweet too much, but it almost sounds like he got to see more of Sonic Lost World beyond this Debut Trailer.

More info later today!

Judge's Day.

Also, Deviantart artist are gonna have a blast with the green girl villain... :/

It's a shame this will be relegated to "it doesn't count" territory when people ask about good post-MD Sonic games because it's WiiU only, just like Colors, but it looks pretty fun. Definitely different from all other Sonic games before it, though

just watched the trailer. Damn, I'm actually somewhat impressed. It looks good. Got a kind of Super Mario Galaxy vibe from it with the way the level was designed.

He implies he has watched other things basically teasing future ign cover of the game basically.

Those people are idiots. Colors wasn't a fucking spinoff and neither is this game.

*disregards Sonic Hype Cycle mental image*

This looks absolutely awesome. I'm completely hyped. My Sonic itch was scratched by Sonic Generations + Unleashed mod, but this is exactly what I wanted from a next gen game!

I am honestly pretty surprised Sega is making a fairly different playing Sonic game for once.

Yes its about as derivative of Mario Galaxy as you can get what with Koopalings and all, but... they might actually have to put in level design work this time rather than endless rollercoaster segments!!

Aside from the snazzy trailer, Lost Worlds looks like more of the same. They're even using the same Sonic models and animations from Generations. I still see an abundance of springs and an emphasis on speed. And the stages appear to be even more linear than they've been in previous games. There's nothing that sets this game apart from Sonic Generations except for the level shown. Disappointing.

Fairly different? Unleashed's day stages are different than Sonic's play style in the Adventure games.

I saw this just now. This shit looks gooooooooooooooooooood.

Oh man, I'm hype. Three Sonics in a row that have managed to do this from pre-release stuff...

Yep, colour me on board too. If Nintendo's got their hands on the project (as the Galaxy-ness suggests) then this could be glorious.

Won't be interested unless it's 60 fps. For a series that prides itself on speed, the fact that all the recent console releases have been 30 fps or lower is embarrassing, to be frank.
