Sonic Lost Worlds Debut Trailer [Up: Wii U + 3DS screenshots]

I think the game looks beautiful, but what the hell is with the camera angles? Are those used during game play? Seems like it would be borderline unplayable when it's 4 inches from Sonic's face as he runs TOWARDS the camera..

Less trying to make the game "xtreme", more playable please!

Sonic game trailers seem to love using those camera angles for dramatic effect, but I don't think the games themselves have ever forced them on you. Most of the time, I expect the camera will be behind Sonic or in "sidescroller" mode. If it does go crazy, it will (hopefully) only be when Sonic is performing automatic actions (like zooming around loops) that are designed to "look cool" rather than be playable.

The best part is that this same thing happens in every Sonic thread, and people still don't learn.

I haven't played the PS3 version. Is there a demo available? Maybe you should try that first. But I'd imagine that even at a lesser framerate, the game would still be fun. The levels, for the most part, have a good flow to them. Very dynamic, with great variety thanks to the premise of pulling levels from various Sonic games and re-imagining them in both Modern and Classic incarnations.

Speaking of which, the Classic version of Escape from the City is amazing. I might have the name wrong, but I believe that's the first stage from Sonic Adventure 2, with the truck chasing you. Playing a 2D sidescrolling version of that, with a truck that moves in and out of the background and topples the obstacles you're platforming across, was simply inspired.

I personally thought all of the classic levels (except Wisp, ugh) were pretty damn amazing. I've only played Sonic 06 for like 5 minutes, but Crisis City Classic was awesome. Sometimes I think Sonic games are fitted really well for 2D more than 3D, but hopefully Lost Planet seems to be merging both elements (making it 3D but keeping the gameplay area to a more confined, 2D like environment), which is honestly the thing I'm most excited about.

No, no. It's just that not every Sonic game has a great soundtrack, as... Beef... demonstrated... -_-

And because this is an educational experience...

Yeah I understand what you mean now. I've yet to play a Sonic game with no music I liked. But man that Dark Brotherhood . . . which coincidentally is not a game I've played. lol

I wrote an LTTP thread here. But let's just say that 2013 Schala is less lenient than 2011 Schala and thinks the game should have been criticized a little more.

I remember the days when zooming around a loop still was a playable section of a sonic game, rather than a cutscene for dramatic effect :-(

Good to hear about the camera angles though. I hope.

The only thing that looks worse than prior releases is the lighting.

Texturing is going for a different look. Simpler, cleaner. Overall this looks pretty damn good.

I see blue skies. They mentioned Red Rings so there has got to be S-ranks to earn. All I gotta know now is how jazz-tacular the music's gonna be. Better be that Sonic Colors composer. Need me some more Planet Wisp Act 1 & Aquarium Park Act 1 up in this piece.

Aquarium Park is some god-tier music, even by Sonic standards. Combined with the excellent level design and the incredible visual direction its hands down my favorite zone in Colors

Love the Act 3 remix as well

This looks great.

Let's hope Sega is 3 for 3 on Sonic. Then he will well and truly be back in form.

tell me those are not bullshots. i really want them not to be bullshots.

edit: the artstyle to me looks same as nintendoland pikmin game.

I can't get enough of the screens and trailer. Graphics look so fresh and have a solid feel. Gameplay is like the best parts of Galaxy. If they flesh this out and do something interesting with different worlds Mario may finally have a worthy rival again.

Looks hot! Will wait for hands on feedback from E3 before buying my ticket to the hype train however. I've been burned on 3D Sonic before.
