Yes; there's a save data transfer tool to transfer cart data over to a digital version of the game. You'll need to buy the game again digitally though, and you need to have the cart present to transfer before you sell the cart off.

Oh, I see... it really does look nice in the pictures you posted, though. I personally wouldn't be able to get used to the different texture -- I'm just too used to that powdery matte on the 3DS XL~
