If anything it's probably timed with at least a PC version at launch as well. It's also an online only shooter so I can't see it being *that* great coming from an unproven, new studio. Could be wrong though. I personally don't care about their game though.

Respawn isn't exactly new or unproven. It's just the real Infinity Ward. I love the team but if it's online only and not something like Destiny then a lot of my interest faded.

battle for exclusive contents and feature.

I'd rather have first parties to tell you honestly. Since you're guaranteed that Santa Monica and ND will be blowing away the competition 10-fold. Unlike the beginning of last generation, Sony has a ton of first parties it could depend on now that can deliver amazing games.

Yeah, I appreciate they're (Sony) not just going after violent games, shooters, sports games, etc. Yes they have a deal on Destiny content/co-marketing but at least it's a new IP rather than Call of Duty #47.

You're going to see big Japanese support out the gate, for example.

Got any hints besides FF? :)

Variety is another thing that will be more than welcomed.

I like shooters, but they can get super boring after so many. CoD: Ghosts, Killzone SF, and Battlefield 4 all look like they'll be fun, but after a while it just gets to be a little too much of the same idea.

The idea that both MSony have exclusive fighting games in the works, for example, gets me very excited. I'm not sure how much truth there is to either of those rumors (Bloody Roar/Killer Instinct 3), but I want a varied line-up of exclusives. I think stuff like Knack and infamous: SS are good signs of that already.

I'm worried guys.

I don't want an Always On Kinect in my room. I want to masturbate in peace.

But if MS comes out guns blazing then I may have to consider blue balls.

I'm more interested to see PS4 get Planetside 2 than seeing Respawn's new game actually.

Also, I need MGSV on PS4, I NEED it!

I think in terms of 'scoop for MS' it would have that kind of reaction but not really on a more personal level, because Bethesda games on Sony platforms are notoriously trash in quality.

Well with the platforms being almost identical in architecture porting between the Xbone and PS4 shouldn't be hard, but it's Bethesda so they'll find some way to mess things up...

I dunno, whenever there's a Final Fantasy related game, the posts can reach over a thousand, 500 if it's a "minor" announcement.

This is true, FF fans are hungry for the next FF7 there haven't been a good FF on consoles since FFX imo so I can understand. If they announce FFvsXIII for for the PS4 the internet would explode not only GAF. But Fallout has a lot of pull especially for the western crowd,
with the success of Skyrim it will be interesting to see how things would turn out if both are exclusive to opposite platforms.

If it's Fallout I'd be willing to bet it will be a timed next gen exclusive, hitting 360/PS3/PC/XBO one day then PS4 later. I'm expecting similar with MGSV, just that one will hit PS4 before XBO.

Someone in here thinking MS has a Ubi exclusive but they're very close with Sony, exclusive content for all their big games, so I don't see that happening

I would be alright with this to be honest, I would get Fallout 4 on my PC anyways because of all the MODs. MGS5 I don't know about, Kojima seems to be everywhere now a days.

I feel that Japan kinda fell by the wayside this generation, they were late to shift into HD development and the vast majority went to handhelds. I really hope that Sony cultivates some relationships with them to bring them back to the forefront of the industry with the PS4 - it's Japanese software which made the Playstation 1 and 2 so successful imo, I just hope Sony realises this. Yes, their first party stuff is strong and has lots of variety, but it's the third party offerings which many people remember fondly.

Just that it won't be a repeat of this generation - that is a lot of long standing companies sitting out most of the generation or slow to move to HD console development.

Any word about whether we'll be seeing games from the east that are not FF or MGS?

I think Planetside 2 is a guarantee to come to the PS4 what with a Planetside 2 dev tweeting they were "excited" by the PS4. Cross-play between PC and PS4 w/ M+KB support would be amazing.

Based on what we know in rumors... I haven't seen anything that would excite me personally.

There's not much they can do outside of funding development. If Atlus doesn't want to spend a bajillion on Persona 5 for PS4 they'll happily spend much less on handhelds. It's unfortunate but that's how it is.

Unfortunately I am interested in some bro games. :(

I'm sure you won't be disappointed about Microsoft showing guns at their E3 presser.

From what I've seen of Planetside 2, it looks like a game that should be bigger than Halo. How popular is it on PC?

I still refuse to believe this is running on PS3/360 tech. o_O

Amazing stuff from KojiPro.

Same here, I'm hoping it's next gen.

Although I'm guessing there are betrayaltons in MS's conference? ;P

I wonder if Sony will have a good betrayalton.

Wow... decent animation in a Metal Gear game that isn't a cutscene? I'm surprised the universe didn't collapse in on itself from the improbability of it.

Well my hope is that if SE does support the PS4 with some FF exclusivity then other Japanese developers will follow, as there would be a guaranteed demographic of which to target their games to.
Plus I think Sony would be quite open to forming some deals with marketing and funding and whatnot, to smaller developers.

That is gameplay, and yes, many loads were jizzed when we saw this new animation system back at the reveal event.

Have you seen the MGSV Phantom Pain gameplay demo at GDC? I like the animation a lot.

No expecting much support but we'll see. Maybe Level 5 and Squeenix can lead the way for other companies.

PS4 doesn't make a lot of sense for a game like Persona 5, PS3/Vita is the best combo for them if the game is coming out relatively soon (by the end of 2014). Fanbase is there, installed base is there (well at least it is on PS3 :P but Golden had really good sales on Vita as well).
With more and more viable options on the market we'll see developers choosing the platforms which are the best fit for the game they want to make.

Obviously Xbox will continue to be the home of dudebro shooters. Shouldn't be surprised by that.

Arc Systems, Capcom and Namco all seem pretty likely.

No Planetside 2 will never be as big as Halo. Halo is a very unique FPS IMO. Amazing vehicular combat, tight physics, tight controls, a great single player campaign and a great multiplayer mode.....

PS2 needs a lot of work at this point. Game is epic, there's nothing like it, but it needs content and modes. Raiding bases after bases gets old fast

Re: Bethesda, I don't think there's any particular mystery or bad blood with them related to the Playstation platform. They just haven't been very comfortable converting from PC to the more exotic PS hardware of the last two gens. That obstacle is essentially gone now, inasmuch as it levels the playing the field for their support of either Xbox or Playstation going forward. So anything they hand over to either platform would probably only be based on a sizable moneyhat.
