Nah Remember Me looks like shit. Tomb Raider has sold millions which proves that if you make a good game with a female character people will bite. Besides Sony is always taking risks with games so I hope they do have an original female lead game in the works.

We've heard of the Guerilla IP for longest, and then the Santa Monica one after that.
But we know Naughty Dog is working on Uncharted 4 (right?) which might be a faster development, than new IP?
It's telling they showed stuff all the way back in February. So there's got to be more, right?

I'm gunna go on a whim and assume David Cage isn't making Beyond because he got Ellen Page to do the gig; rather that Ellen Page is doing the gig because David Cage is making Beyond.
I've never understood where this notion of "we need female leads, male characters so boring, also misogyny". I want to play the game the developers create, if they decide that a male lead is preferable to a female lead then that's fine to me, vice versa too.
Why did I play through Mass Effect as male-shep? Because the game was always advertised with male-shep (until ME3 mind you), I didn't even change his appearance because I felt that was how BioWare envisioned the game to be played.
Tomb Raider sold millions because it's a good Tomb Raider game. Lara Croft is not an original female lead at this point.

She is not playing Ellen Page in the game, she only looks like her. So she is a new character.
This is wrong. Beyond was green-lighted long before they signed Page on the project. The script with the female lead was finished 3 months after the release of Heavy Rain.

The name of the actors are going to be on the cover. You guys are fooling youself if you think Ellen Page in not going to be used to sell the game. And Im not taking anything away from the title, it's definitely taking risks but it's not what Im talking about now am I? Beyond is just a stand alone title I want Sony to have a new franchise with an original female character, like Nate, like Kratos.

Do you have a source for that? I think MS had first refusal rights for the original trilogy (though I don't even know if that's 100% accurate). I don't think it's for any game of the series.
Mark Rein said they can do what they want with it and Mike Capps has said they would love to have Gears trilogy on Playstation and everywhere.
It would be weird for them to say those things if Gears was tied to MS to that extent. The main quote thing is this though:
As long as MS keeps paying up, Gears will be exclusive to it.

Well, I would argue that she was, she's voiced by a model/actress from Californication, the PC ads were in the satirical form of shampoo commercials, and she runs around an island, in a form fitting top that gets gradually more tears as the game goes on, despite being constantly surrounded by lots of nice warm clothing she could wear, but regardless of all of that, she's also not a new character. She was a gaming icon, she was on the front of non-gaming magazines, there are live action films about her, she was already established by games that without question played on her sexuality.
You want a new character, so you should provide any sort of evidence that it's fiscally responsible to do so. Find a Beyond Good and Evil that didn't completely bomb, for example.

Willem Dafoe is also on the cover of Beyond. Of course they're going to use the names of well established, famous actors to sell the game. Why wouldn't you? Stop ignoring Beyond as a perfect example of what you want just because Ellen Page is the actress for it. The Last of Us will have Ellie accompanying you every step of the way, I'm pretty sure she won't just be another pushover.
Like I already said, Nathan Drake has Chloe and Elena as strong accompanying characters throughout the series. Sure they aren't leads, but they're very prominent characters.

Honestly, being a female gamer, the bigger problem isn't having female protagonists in games ... it's the fact that the male-dominated gaming community tend to give women a lot of BS. They either hound you with lewd comments, tell you to shut up or flat out ignore you.
This is in both online and real life situations. Games are fun. The people that play them suck.

There's no doubt women get plenty of shit, but I don't think it's that people are actually misogynists a lot of the time. It's just effective shit talk. No one knows anything about anyone online that doesn't come directly from the tone of their voice, so their age, their gender, their location, etc. So those are the things people use to attack people, regardless of what they actually think about those things.
I was going to give you the first no, because it's at least somewhat understandable. Between two good female characters, does it really matter who wins? Even though Chloe is obviously better.

That's the thing. I shouldn't have to play a certain kind of game just to not get bothered. I could be talking to a group of friends, having a good time and someone will literally pick me out of the crowd to mess with. It's insane and there's nothing the gaming industry can do to stop it.

They are not even pushing the MP. The game is about the SP experience so who cares if they have an MP pass or not, a month later the MP portion will be forgotten anyway.

Yeah it would've been cool if Golden Abyss did that. But it was the first Uncharted on Vita...
what's wrong with it? Its obvious they will be creating all the DLC content after they're done with the main game. Heck they even delayed the main game to make it better. DLC is fine, as long as its not Day 1 DLC.
I wouldn't be surprised if the MP part of TLOU has some serious story spoilers or something. ND keep saying it's amazing and that they've worked super hard on it, so at the very least they have my curiosity for the MP.
Also, the season pass is for SP DLC.
I just really don't like the idea of buying a new game for £40 and then having to drop another £15-20 on a season pass for DLC that may or may not be worth the money. In an ideal world, game publishers will include the season pass with a collectors edition.

I hate to get too far off topic on this (I am very excite about PS4 @ E3!) but it doesn't play out that way in reality. I've seen it happen to myself and countless other female gamers so many times. People will literally mess with you for no reason at all. Shit talking is one thing if you get yourself into an argument but it goes way beyond that. They just come out of the woodwork to insult you or come on to you. If I weren't so obsessed with games I would have stopped playing a long time ago because of it.
