The difference with that conference is that we didn't really know anything they were going to show. Almost everything was a surprise.
Well no, because they are Summer releases. This is for post summer stuff unless that magically changed since the last Direct.

And last year Nintendo showed that Direct before E3 about Wii U system features so they could focus on games at the conference.
Then they recapped it for nearly 10 minutes at the conference. Have they ever specifically said "post-Summer", anyways?

I am starting to get the feeling nothing new will get announced, except for maybe the new mario game. If it is not a dissappointing Mario Galaxy HD collection or something.

In contrast, I don't think we're going to see more than two or three minutes of Pikmin 3. They've already shown quite a lot footage of it and there's no need to go in-depth about it for yet another time. There's no assurance at all that the Direct will be 1 hour. Could be more, could be less.
And yes, last Direct Iwata said that they already showed the spring/early summer stuff, and that the E3 Direct would focus on late summer/autumn/winter.

The January direct thread had people glooming the direct before it started talking about how no new games would really be shown. At the end alot of people had crow shakes.

There are 9 silhouettes, 4 of them are Pikmin, therefor 26:39 will be dedicated to Pikmin 3. There is no possible other explanation. This E3 is going to suck

They could have multiple recordings with different content yes. Like plan A direct, plan B direct, etc.
Pikmin 3 will be there for the second time. It was first introduced during E3 2012.
And yes, I fully expect Pikmin 3, the Wonderful 101, Wii U Fit and Wii U Party to be there. But I don't believe they'll get a lot of airtime on the Direct. When Wii Party was announced back in 2010, it only had what; a two minute trailer? I expect the same for these four. Still leaves 52 minutes for more new stuff

I remember thinking they meant business last year when they posted the picture of Iwata and co. outside the convention.
But I am certain they'll bring it this year. Still not 100 percent that Retro will be there though. And that's what I want to see the most. By far.
