So.. The new mario is Galaxy 3 ?

Nope.

http://mynintendonews.com/2012/03/12/nintendo-says-super-mario-galaxy-3-is-difficult-to-imagine/

“When we worked on Galaxy 1 we came up with a mountain of ideas. Of course, the ideas that made it in to the final product were the ones at the very top. Those ideas that were most compelling or could be implemented most easily and effectively. The other ideas were a little bit rougher. Ideas we weren’t positive that’d be as effective, or might have been much more difficult to include.”

“When you think about trying to make a game like Galaxy 2 from that large group of ideas that we had already decided were on the rough side, that becomes a very difficult project. The only way that we got through the development of Mario Galaxy 2 was by coming up with entirely new ideas. I think of that as a very challenging project when I look back on it.”

“From that perspective, to say we’d make another game using the ideas left over from Galaxy 2, it’s very difficult for me to imagine. I feel like we really did research the field very well for possible ideas and we used everything that was reasonably easy to implement.”

My prediction:

Mario 3D
Smash
Mario Kart
Wii Sports U

Then a quick recap of the Summer games featured on the E3 site (Pikmin, etc.).

X will not be in the Direct, but will have a new trailer up at some point afterwards.

Retro's game, if revealed, will have its own Direct probably a day later.

I don't see any 3DS here.

Last time I checked you can set minutes on a calendar schedule.

Then why was New Super Luigi U, Pikmin 3 and Wii U Spring Update at 3DS Direct?

Or how about this 3DS Direct with Miiverse, New Super Luigi U, Monster Hunter 3G Ultimate?

I won't get excited. I WON'T.

...It's too late. I already am. :(

I hope that the Smash Reveal is epic. I hope it's a trailer. I hope we can all lose our minds about it. I hope there's surprises.

Goddamn it, I told myself I wouldn't get amped up for E3 hype this year...

I always just wonder if they're going to have demos at participating Best Buys, why not just put the demos online and let everyone on the Wii U try them out?

Well Wii U owners already have bought the machine, and the risks of bricking the console are there.
Also no one ever did this before (iirc) so there must be a good reason, and Nintendo will certainly not be the first to do it.

I kinda want them to give more time to TW101. The game needs all the exposure it can get.

They can do so by releasing a demo. It's kind of sad that they could have done this in the past year since it was revealed but they chose not to. Instead of inappropriately wasting a direct to show more of this game they should push it through other advertising means. Don't get me wrong. I want the game to get as much exposure as possible but I don't think the E3 Direct is the place for it. I'm hoping it's only shown in a montage or something.

They should seriously do this to make up for last time.

But they should troll us with something like Wii U Fit at the end after saying that but it being a joke, then show Retro's brand new IP.

Itd be a play on getting your body ready for retros game.

I just cant imgaine there not being one nice surprise from this direct...

So from the silhouettes:

New 3D Mario
Wind Waker HD
Mario & Luigi (eh!?)
Wonderful 101
Super Luigi U
Pikmin 3

Plus, there could also be focus on:

Smash Bros
Mario Kart
Bayonetta 2
Yarn Yoshi
Sonic Lost World + Mario & Sonic
X
Wii Fit U

Plus anything unannounced, such as Retro's project, a new Wii Sports or the third Nintendo exclusive Sonic gane. Could be a pretty good E3 all things considered.

I get you, I just want the game to succeed, and maybe the Direct could help. Platinum is awesome. Such a shame their games don't sell as they should.

I was going to go to the Best Buy in Long Island City or the Flagship store in Rockefeller center to play these games, but I think I've decided against it. I would rather be totally surprised by the gameplay this Fall.

Pikmin 3
Wonderful 101
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD
Sonic Lost Worlds
Mario Kart
Super Mario 3D Platformer
Bayonetta 2
Yoshi Yarn
Project X
Super Smash Bros 4
Retro's new game (which is allegedly a new IP)

Legend of Zelda: A Return to the Past
Probably some new announcements for 3DS

Nintendo has a ton of good stuff to poor into concrete or announce.

Don't get it. All this silhouettes are games that all we already known. What's the point by hiding them? This is so dull!

I don't espect nothing like can be close to a megaton.

Assuming 60 minutes:

- 7 min for Mario Kart U
- 15 min for 3rd party (Sonic LW, Ubisoft, WB, Activision)
- 15 min for NSLU, W101, Pikmin 3, Bayo 2, Wii Party, etc.
- 7 min for new 3D Mario
- 3 min for Retro Announcement
- 13 min for other random things (welcome, os updates, etc.)

EDIT:
The 4 demos at Best Buy:
- W101
- Pikmin 3
- Mario Kart U
- Mario 3D

In January, Iwata mentioned Super Smash Bros. and that the first screens will be shown at E3. After, he talked about 3D Mario and Mario Kart, and he specifically emphasized that those two will be playable.
That's a very weak disconfirmation, but something, I guess.

I dunno. He didn't explicitly say it wouldn't be playable (I broke out the ND in question to double-check), so I'm gonna hold out hope that it'll be possible (after all, it's been in development longer, now, than Brawl was with its initial reveal), although I wouldn't stretch it to Best Buy necessarily.

Smash?

Wow... that Smash Melee reveal was pretty damn awesome... I hope we get a release trailer like that for 4. Yes, I know it was just the Melee opening video, but it and Brawl's were pretty awesome, so if all we get for E3 is that, I'll still be pretty damn happy.

Microsoft has done this once before as far as I recall actually. I distinctly remember Sonic 06 getting a demo as part of their E3 promotion.

Last time I checked you can set minutes on a calendar schedule.

You're assuming that the people in charge of the website actually know how long the Direct will be. You also assume that even if they do they care enough to put in the exact time in a calender entry that's first and foremost supposed to notify you before the event starts. You also assume that the company already knows already how long the Direct will be.

Thinking the time is set in stone because Nintendo hid a 60 minute time frame in a calendar file you can only view on your phone, strikes me as a little silly.

Where did they say Smash wouldn't be?

All they said about Smash is that the first "screens" would be shown at E3. Now
I suppose they never actually said Smash wouldn't be playable, but they failed to make mention of it when talking about how 3D Mario and Mario Kart would be in playable form.

Is the forthcoming Direct only focused on WiiU or 3ds too??

I had the feeling that it was only for Wiiu..

If the latter, then maybe one hour is not enough....

No way Smash is playable but I would guess that it will be a short trailer showing cinema introductions of most characters we already know will be there.

If they show any gameplay in the trailer, I would be pumped.

Considering Nintendo's sterling track record at the previous couple E3's, I imagine those silhouettes only being from games we already know about is due to them not wanting to spoil people on Smash, Retro's game or what other surprises they have in store for us!

:(
