Nintendo E3 Site Opens: E3 Direct one hour long. Teases some games.

Oh, people will never learn regarding Nintendo, hype and E3.

My prediction:

They will use 60-70% of the Direct to talk about the games we already know about, then they'll show a teaser of the new 3D Mario with a few seconds of gameplay, same with Smash and if we're really, really lucky, we will see a logo of Retro's new project.

Nintendo, bitches!

I dont care if they show W101 but I bet all that stuff will be covered on the show floor by journalists and stuff.

Of course but then only people interested in it would read about it. And those already know what they need to know.
What I mean is, N Directs are meant to showcase games directly to consumers (as an E3 conference would be, btw) and showing off W101 in the E3 Direct will probably get more people interested in it than if you had to read about it on ign or something.
And this is the kind of games that need attention.

Pikmin, on the other hand, had more than enough, and dare I say it did more wrong than good to it.

Because it's never consistent. It's why I don't get too hype.

I really hope that a metroid is in development.
I do think a 3d ghost and goblins isnt a bad idea if its done right.

1 hours is soooooo disappointing. Hype deflating. Also are they really going to show Pikmin, W101 and WWHD again.

I don't see why it is so disappointing. This Nintendo Direct won't stop them from releasing "extended" sneak peeks during E3.

Show trailers for all the games and release trailers+gameplay videos throughout E3.
Seems like the only logical way to do it because there's too much info to condense into a 60 presentation.

Exactly, focus on the new stuff.

They did announce of a lot games in a short amount of time but I would be disappointed if it was like that again. Gameplay + release dates and were set.

I hope they just gloss over that stuff, like heres a trailer and then release date. Remember this is replacing their conference which usually is 1.5 hours so thats why I thought it was a bit disappointing but there would be probably be lots of edits to make it concise.

Eh? I doubt Sony will talk about Last of Us other than an example of a great game. Release date to garner attention. Actually could that be a reason for Nintendo to highlight the announced games: advertising the release date.
Yea but you have to remember this a direct. Not a conference. There will be no breaks in between for people to walk on stage. Random company ceo's talking about their games. Its Iwata, telling the news directly to you.

Mario looks different than the picture you posted and Samus isn't even there...

Ah, I see where you're getting confused. The Mario and Samus pictures are their Super Smash Bros. art. I was just pointing out that the W101 art was very similar to the Smash art and could show that he's a SSB4 character. It's most likely a coincidence, though.

1 hour is worrisome. It's not as long of time to show of games as people would think. I'm expecting disappointment again. Prove me wrong Nintendo.

they could fit 10-20 games in there if they wanted to. we already know of around a dozen that are coming out. i am running under the assumption that they'll show all their big hitters, every third party game, and then give mini directs to others after the big one, like they usually tend to do.

there was supposed to be a big ol' third-party direct a month ago, and the 3ds direct took it spot. i bet that got condensed into this upcoming one alongside nintendo's games.

Excited! They have to have at least a couple big reveals, and hopefully some solid details on X.

(My first post here. Finding this forum has been like finding life in the nuclear armageddon that the internet has become. Thanks for having me.)

People complaining about the length already made up their minds. They'll be disappointed and bitch about it.
They expect everything happening during that hour, but let's just remember the last 6+ years when Nintendo always skipped many announcements during the conferences and gave them instead via their press site.

Which they will do again. Even more this year because they have Directs for that and announced a while ago we'd have a lot to see all week.

Hopefully they'll show games at a faster rate than some of the previous directs. A few quick montages would be excellent.

It's not long for a conference, but it is long for a Direct. There will be no introductions, no random company reps coming on stage to talk about and demo their game, etc. It's just going to be announcements, trailers, and gameplay. They could easily spend less than five minutes on each game and still have enough to satisfy. They have all E3 to release more detailed media if need be.

Quick montages are just megaton fodder. You don't get to see anything interesting about gameplay. Why would you want that.

Not directed at you, but every year at E3 the conference threads make me wonder why some people watch them live since they could get their fix quickly by livetweets or reading about it afterwards.

Nintendo has had 2 bad E3s in a row. For some people, that makes up a sizeable chunk of the total number of E3s they've been fortunate enough to observe. But for people who have been following E3 for more than a decade, we all know that nintendo is equally capable of knocking it out of the park as they are of another ravvi drums debacle. The same really goes for Sony, though they've been pretty alright the past few years

i can already picture the e3 direct in Iwata's voice.

you may have seen our previous. nintendo. direct. in which i. detailed. some of the upcoming. wii u titles. mister miyamoto has been. hard at work. completing development on pikmin 3, which will be released on wii u this. summer.

*10 minutes going over the last Direct slowly explaining pikmin 3 and nslu as if speaking to an audience of kindergartners*

But then that moment will come. The moment, like in the January Direct, where shit gets real. Mario Kart. X. 3D Mario. Boom. Retro's game. BOOM.

SMASH BROS

Hasn't this happened in directs before?

So in 60 minutes you'll get

- 3D Mario
- Mario Kart
- Super Smash Bros. U
- X
- Possibly Bayonetta 2
- TW101 (launch) trailer
- Pikmin 3 launch trailer
- Retro's new game
- Mario & Luigi 3DS RPG
- Other 3DS stuff
- Wii Fit U

+ the usual out-of-fucking-nowhere-Nintendo-surprises

I'm totally fine with that

Wait people don't want Snake back in Smash? I want him too! I neef my codec talks.

"Luigi always played second banana to Mario."
"Colonel what are you saying?"
"Ba woo nee na ba woo nee na"
"Colonel?!?! Coooooloooonellllll!!!!!"

I can't see them talking about Pikmin etc. If so, why bother having the previous Direct where they announced release dates and such? I think they will mention them as part of their launch schedule, but that will be it.

The last Direct was, imo, similar to the XBox reveal. An opportunity to get all that stuff out of the way before the main show.

Or perhaps I am entirely wrong :)

That would be 60 minutes that will confirm months of gaming joy. So perfectly fine with that, yes.
Hopefully the main focus is WiiU. And i think they'll have no other choice.

It will go like this : Our WIIU is success... here are the games that are out. Now let me talk about the beginning of zelda befor talking about the new zelda. Here is the new zelda : Wind waker 2. We decided that we had so many ideas for it to make it a sequel to the legendary zelda. Its just WW with some new ideas. Let me show you the beginning of pikmin befor showing you pikmin 3...

I can say to you that retro is hardly working on a new franchise. We will reveal it soon. THE END.

That is how Nintendo do it. I dont expect 10 games in 1 hour.

Isn't that the same length almost all of their previous E3 conferences have been?

EDIT: Whoops, said several times over already. Still, hoping being a direct stops them including some of the dumber shit they've had in the past two conferences.

Seems legit

Forgot to add Wind Waker trailer to my list

Besides, I really hope to see Bayonetta 2 at E3 Direct. I love watching the January Direct video of it just because of that epic music alone
I'd be really surprised if we don't. Hell, we don't even know how far into development it got before getting scrapped* and how much if anything they've had to change once Nintendo stepped in. For all we know unless something on the contrary has already been said, the game is more than ready to be shown off in a playable state at this E3.

* but apparently far enough for there to be a planned Game Informer cover story early last year at least

After what happened to the last thread I'll wait a little bit more since this one could be closed as well for whatever reasons

Don't worry, didn't forget about it :) I think the end of next week is good
Yea I was just asking early, didnt want one in here specifically. Cause I know, when your hype pics come to fruition.. shit has most definently gotten real lol

Stuff like this is why I love Nintendo.

Yep. Smash Bros shows what an amazing line up of characters and franchises Nintendo has. I wish they would take care of them better though.

But the Smash Melee trailer is just perfect. The music, everything.

The thought has definitely crossed my mind, but I don't think Nintendo is that dumb. You just don't mess with 3D Mario like that.

Iwata specifically said "3D Mario action game" in the January Direct, so I think we're good.

Well they are sure not "dump" with present like 6 New Super Mario Brothers in a few years. 3D Mario action game can mean that Mario is in but doesnt have to be the main character.

I have a feeling he'll have a bigger role than Galaxy but I don't think the game will just be about him.

Maybe a coop mode? A coop mode would be interesting and would fuck with everyones mind.
And it would be awesome with the WIIU controller. One controlling Mario and the other Luigi. You heard it here first.

I don't get why people are assuming New Super Luigi U, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 and Game & Wario will be within this. The entire purpose of the Nintendo Direct two weeks ago was to showcase them, and they said outright that the E3 one is for games from Autumn and beyond.

I get trying to prepare yourself for the worst, but if they are in it, they will not be a focus at all. I highly doubt they'll be in it

They're probably still traumatized from last year.
