I will say this: I think that the biggest thing Nintendo could do in terms of surprises would be securing an exclusive wii u megaman title in the vein of Sonic lost world. It would play nicely to Nintendo's latest retro fetish and make them the hero in the eyes of many gamers. It would have to be a reinvention of the franchise that plays to its roots (no maturrrrr bulshit).
Something like that would bring the megatonz to nintendos e3.

That would certainly make GAF melt but probably not exactly set the carts on fire :(

I don't care for this Direct anyway :/. I will certainly not watch this.

I have my physics exam on the exact same hour

I'd love it, but I doubt it'd really make that much of a splash.

I think it would be one of the only true feasible surprises left in terms of retro franchises. Contra maybe as well, but megaman fits Nintendo's own franchises so nicely I would die for a well designed, ambitious take on classic megaman with the 3d mario treatment.

As this Direct will be seen by more people I'd probably stick a 5 minute trailer montage in for their summer releases if I was Nintendo.

1 hour should be plenty as well.

They trailed 6 games, named four more for summer release and announced Smash, Kart and Mario 3D in the 36 minute Direct in January..

..and half of that Direct was spent talking purely about Miiverse/virtual console.

I'm a bit late, but aren't we supposed to get something like 3 directs for E3 (before, during and after) ? I thought they announced this a while ago.

Holy fuuuuuuuck, is this Viewtiful Joe?!

I know is the guy from 101

No VJ but some of his moves actually look the same as Joe's (jumping and 2nd jump). At least that's what I got after playing it on the eurogamer expo :P

No they never said how many directs would be coming before E3. We got 1 and thats probably it. (count the capcom one if you want)

I just want to know if Retro's new project is Star Tropic or not. Please not.

I doubt it, but I actually really hope it is. I mean that IP would give them total creative freedom as long as they includes a nod or two to the original. It would be like a new IP in practice.

We got the one last month that showcased Summer Wii U games, and some 3DS ones. Then straight after that the E3 Direct was confirmed to be focused on Wii U games from Autumn and beyond. Never about a third Direct

We are getting a Pokemon direct as well.

They said "many directs before E3" so the ones who were reasonable among us deduced it was to be 2 Directs. We got one on the 17th and this one which is technically before E3, as they said themselves. We'll get more during E3 iirc.

Technically had one yesterday, too :P

Someone break down the time allocation for the following:

1) Open with Super Mario WiiU, much like how they opened with Skyward Sword one E3
2) On the topic of Mario, transition to Mario Kart WiiU
3) Still on a Mario-related note, transition to Yarn Yoshi for WiiU
4) On the topic of Yoshi, transition to Yoshi's Island for 3DS
5) Continuing the 3DS, transition to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2
6) Still on the topic of Zelda, proceed to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
7) Proceed to another fall WiiU title, namely The Wonderful 101
8) Still on the topic of Platinum Games, transition to Bayonetta 2
9) On the note of third-party collaboration, go to SMT x Fire Emblem (unlikely, but still)
10) On the note of epic RPGs, transition to Monolith Soft's X (and 3DS title, why not)
11) Touch on story-driven games for NA: Bravely Default, Layton vs. AA, MonHun 4
12) Highlight major RPGs Pokémon X and Pokémon Y (first simultaneous global launch)
13) Focus on expanded audience: Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Wii Sports U
14) Return to "core" and drop the Treasure 3DS project Bob-omb
15) Then drop the Retro Studios WiiU project METROID in PRIME STYLE Bob-omb
16) Super Smash Bros 4
17) Reggie: "One more thing" -- ZELDA Wii U TEASER/ARTWORKS/DETAILS

Fixed that for you.

worrisome inlusion of shadows taken not only from old wiiu games, but even from 3ds games..nintendo is the only one that can disappoint even announcing brand new mario, smash and kart games

I don't think they will spoil the surprises before E3, this is just to get us a little hyped.

Why would they spoil any surprise reveals on a website beforehand?

Seriously, the last couple of years, every "surprise" reveal from gaming companies has always been shown/hinted/leaked beforehand. Last year's E3 was depressing for that as it was just confirming stuff.

I want surprises like the Twilight Princess E3 surprise, or the Link to the Past 2 Nintendo Direct of two months ago. Something out of left field. That's how reveals and surprises are meant to go

it's not a question of spoilering surprises, but if they'll talk about w101 and pikmin and luigi, they'll talk for sure also about fit and party. and if the direct will discuss also 3ds games, considering mario, smash and kart and the summer OS update...do you really think that one hour will be enough to show also X, bayonetta, yoshi, fire emblem and maybe also a couple of new games including retro's new title?
I don't think so...

The shadows are for the E3 Nintendo site, not for Direct specifically. E3 Nintendo site will have a coverage with interviews, trailers and other things starting with the Direct, that, as said on its own site, will be about future Wii U titles.

Who says they're talking about Wonderful 101, Pikmin and Luigi? All signs say that they will have little to no presence

"#IwataSays We will discuss future Wii U titles for fall and onward during an additional #NintendoDirectNA before the start of E3 in June."
"We will discuss new Smash Bros., 3D Mario game, Mario Kart and other Wii U titles in our #NintendoDirectNA before the start of E3"

All evidence suggests that this Nintendo Direct will not contain them

I totally forgot about the Retro reveal, looking forward to that as well!

Is it likely? Has anyone contact with the people working at Retro?

I got a lot of invitations and appointments for the E3 week but the PR guys of the publishers whether want to tell me what kind of game is shown nor with whom I will have an interview. Makes preperation a lot easier. Not.

remember the direct is about "future Wii U games" so there should not be much as far as 3ds or summer releases. That been said, I still won't give them the benefit of the doubt since they messed up a million times.

Well I remember a 3DS direct in the past, they were going through a lot of games in about 30 mins.

If they don't take too long each game, I'm sure they can do it, I think some games will be shown fast e.g Bayonetta and surprise announcements, and then they will focus more on games like 3D Mario.

Also I doubt they will take long with Pikimin and W101, they did the summer release direct for this reason.

Plus this direct supposedly will focus on Wii U games only, or at least mostly.

See nothing to worry about.

I can't imagine them spending too much precious minutes over New Luigi, Pikmin, W101, and all games we already know...
That sait, it is a direct, not a conference, there is no time in applause, watch who's coming, etc... So I guess 1 hour is cool.

Now don't ruin it. Please. Doommongers are sharpening their knives as we speak...

BTW, is there a direct announced for 3DS?

You got invitations to interview but the pr people wont tell you what game or who its with?

Other than Reggie's comments last year, this is the most recent quote about it by Yamada:
If Retro aren't making Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, what are they making? Does it involve a certain bounty hunter?
HY: I wonder what kind of game it is? I hope to introduce it to you in the not so distant future.

So no, people expecting it could be disappointed.

I don't get why people are assuming New Super Luigi U, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101 and Game & Wario will be within this. The entire purpose of the Nintendo Direct two weeks ago was to showcase them, and they said outright that the E3 one is for games from Autumn and beyond.

I get trying to prepare yourself for the worst, but if they are in it, they will not be a focus at all. I highly doubt they'll be in it

They have shown 0 seconds of footage of Wonderful 101 in the last Direct. They just showed the logo and the date. It'll definitely be featured in the next one.

However, since they apparently hold back footage of Wonderful 101 on purpose, I'd assume that this means that they won't show a lot of the other games that were shown in the Summer Direct. Otherwise it would be weirdly inconsistent.
