This seems realistic to me. Wouldn't be surprised at all if we didn't get any X, SMTxFE or Yoshi. Wouldn't be disappointed if it turns out to be real.

Smash Bros gets 4 minutes ^_^

X is "confirmed" already. Stop bringing up this silly fake img.

The relevant excerpt:

And (in all likely-hood) you are wrong. Sorry.

If Nintendo was abandoning that audience we wouldn't be seeing Wii Fit U or Wii Party U. And we have already seen footage of Wii Sports U. People with actual knowledge on the situation (Shikamura Ninja) say it is happening. Wii Sports U is one of the best selling IPs Nintendo has, they aren't going to abandon it unless the next one fails.

Your post ends up breaking down to wishful thinking without any evidence to back it up. I see no reason to believe what you said over the above.

That reminds me, I can't wait for the Iwata Asks for Kamiya. That should be coming sometime soon, right? Or at least between now and The Wonderful 101's release in Japan.

Iwata: How do you feel about Nintendo? Aren't we the best company in the world?
Kamiya: Do you eat shit?

1) I never said they are abandoning that audience.
2) We haven't seen "footage of Wii Sports U." We saw Wii U concept demos. Wii Golf again? but this time you can look at the ball on the floor? And what's different? How does the GamePad change anything? Wii Sports Resort made sense. Wii Sports U doesn't.
3) My post has nothing do with "wishful" thinking. It's coming from a game design standpoint. The game itself makes little to no sense for the platform unless you completely ignore the benefits of the system and just remake the Wii game in higher resolution again.

That's not confirmation. It makes an appearance likely given her tendencies, but it's not strictly a confirmation. I know, I know, semantics.

That's why I said EVERY TIME that it's an indirect confirmation. After having to repeat it tons of times I seemed to have left out the "indirect" this time ...

Except it's not even an indirect confirmation. It's an insinuation, if anything. But I apologize, I'm just being difficult.

Did a quick and dirty translation:

Sonic Lost World:The fast Hedgehog against the terrible Six

News regarding the upcoming Jump & Run-Highlight for WiiU and Nintendo 3DS

This year, in Sonic Lost World, the titular hero Sonic encounters his strongest enemy yet
Sonic has to take on six at once in this action laden Jump & Run.
SEGA and Nintendo already announced details about their worldwide partnership in the latest edition of Nintendo Direct on march 17th.
Today they unveil more details on the second of three titles, who the two companies will release exclusively for WiiU and Nintendo 3DS.
All three games will be released this year.

The story of Sonic Lost World: To gain world dominance, Dr. Eggman wants to use the power of six powerful creatures. But the terrible Six rise up against their master and the evil scientist has no choice but to work together with his arch-nemesis Sonic.
Only together can they defeat the horrifying enemies. Sonic relies on some completely new running abilities and colour-energies. He runs, jumps and races through a multitude of new worlds, to hit back at the terrible Six.

On Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, Sonic Lost World will be released with a fast paced single player mode and an intense range of multiplayer modes. Each version surprises with unique functionalities, which make the best use of each consoles Features.
With the Wii U Gamepad players can activate exclusive colour-energies, by pulling the controller, tilt it or interact with the touchscreen.
The whole game can be played on the screen of the Gamepad away from the TV. It also offers a coop mode that lets one player support another.
Sonic Lost World for Nintendo 3DS is the first completely 3D Sonic handheld title that allows fans of the blue hedgehog to experience the game in complete 3D worlds.
The Nintendo 3DS version features exclusive bonus stages and colour-energies.

The rest is irrelevant.

Nintendo Direct wil be Iwata rocking out on this song for fiftyfive minutes, constantly chanting "NINTENDO! NINTENDO! NINTENDO!"

It will be a glorious .jif parade.

- We saw two "concept demos ". One where the gamerpad is placed on the ground and can used to see that lay of the ball (along with the ball) in a golf match and another where you can use the gamerpad to physically select where pitches will go through gyro in a baseball match and (through gyro again) can catch the ball in the outfield. The golf tech has been patented .

Link: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/05/nintendo_applies_for_patent_on_wii_u_golf_tech

- All of those "concept demos" shown in that E3 2011 WiiU teaser (video chat, watching videos, Wii fit) turned into actual real things. So did the chase Mii and Metroid demo (NintendoLand), along with the shield demo (Game & Wario).

- Game-design perspective? It makes no sense? Outside of 30+ million reasons to do it, I would like for you to show me better uses of the WiiU Gamerpad then those shown in the E3 2011 Wii Sports U footage. Outside of NintendoLand and maybe ZombiU, there currently is none.

So yeah, if you ignore the concept demos, the sales-numbers, the patents, Shikamaru Ninja (a known Nintendo insider), the writing on wall, and common sense... Yeah, Wii Sports U is totally not happening.

I fully acknowledged the concept demos. At least the one I remembered. No need to ignore them. Fair point that there's a second one. Still doesn't gel well with the activity-based concept of the series. That fits better into a Mario Baseball sequel.

As for better uses aside from those you preemptively excluded I'd cite G&W and Wii U Party. Not sure what the point of that is, though.

Patents rarely mean anything. May I remind you of the horse riding thing they patented in 2008 or so? Of course they would patent that golf demo thing. It's a neat idea.

My original points still stand, the game makes no sense from a design standpoint. It would need to be changed from movement-based multiplayer fun centered around performing actual sports activities to a Wii Sports-remake-but-now-with-someone-sitting-to-the-side-holding-the-GamePad-and-doing-stuff-on-the-touch-screen thing. That, to me, does make no sense. The Wii Sports fun-sports-gameplay gains next to nothing from two screens.

Wii Sports U might be the ideal game to bundle with standalone GamePads. Or not, I don't know. Maybe.

I'd say that would be Four Swords Adventuers 2 or Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, the first one-2: It's Getting Foggy Again. Or Battalion Wars 3. Or, who knows. Pikmin fucking 3. lol

Well thatfalls down to a matter of difference of opinion, but the point is that Nintendo had already shown game-worthy design choices using the Gamerpad that would warrant a sequel. Nintendo needs ways to sell the Gamerpad to people and those demos are still some of the best ideas they have shown.

Patents rarely mean anything. May I remind you of the horse riding thing they patented in 2008 or so? Of course they would patent that golf demo thing. It's a neat idea.

I wouldn't say rarely. Many times patents have been discovered from Nintendo that turned into something. The WiiU voice chat, the help system in Mario and Zelda, the Gamerpad, etc. It's just another piece of the puzzle showing the motions have started for a WiiU sports title. Nintendo most likely didn't go through all that trouble to create WiiU Sports demos/concepts and patent it for nothing.

Your original point ignores games like Wii Fit U which use the Gamerpad in motion-gaming ways, or NintendoLand Zelda which has motionplus sword-fighters teaming up with a player using the Gamerpad as a bow. It ignores SiNG and Just Dance as well. It also ignores the very compelling demos that already provided some exciting new ways to play a Wii Sports game.

Anyways, you can continue to put your head in sand, but just don't be surprised when WiiU Sports is revealed. it is probably going to happen soon (like 9 days soon).

Some expectations / thoughts as to what might be revealed, though not necessarily in this specific order.

Wind Waker HD is shown. Looks much better than last showing with superior lighting and textures, although it's not a complete overhaul of the original game. Characters are animated more rubbery than the SD version, runs at 60 frames per second. Advertises new Game Pad features which include items, map, Tingle Tuner, and maybe even the option to change the wind at will once you get the Wind Waker. Tingle Tuner is revamped slightly and advertised as a co-operative "helper" option ala NSMBU / Rayman Legends' Murphy, Holiday 2013.

Super Mario Universe / 3D Mario presents a focus on both exploration and simultaneous multiplayer. First game to make use of dual Game Pads, one person plays as Mario on their Game Pad while the other plays as Luigi on their Pad, players can choose between who gets to play on the TV screen. Focus on exploration mixed with platforming makes it so players can either team up to get Stars within the level, or players can go their own path and try to get Stars on their own. Local multiplayer only, Holiday 2013.

Super Smash Bros. U has a few screenshots shown and a teaser trailer, but both are rather elusive in what the main focus of the game is. The point is that Smash is back, it looks beautiful and will have online, more details later. 2014 earliest.

Mario & Sonic Kart U combines both Mario's world and Sonic's into one, players can choose characters from both the Mario Kart & Sonic games, with stages inspired by both worlds. A bit faster paced than before, items are less chaotic and more fair, Sumo helping out the Kart team this time. Online multiplayer like the last few games as well. Holiday 2013.

Yoshi Yarn is shown again in much more detail, very similar to Kirby's Epic Yarn but with facets of gameplay inspired by Yoshi's Island and Story to stronger tie the brand together. Instead of collecting beads for the highest score, players must collect fruit. 4-player local multiplayer co-op between 4 different colored Yoshis, early 2014 release date.

Zelda Wii U has no name, release date, or even a trailer shown, but early screens and/or concept art, as well as more information on what the game might be like are given. Very early in production, probably won't see release until 2014 earliest, most likely 2015.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 2 U is Retro's new title. Levels look beautiful, difficulty increases beyond the final world of Returns takes place in an Urban setting. 5-player multiplayer between Donkey, Diddy, Dixie, Kiddy, and Cranky on the Game Pad who places blocks and stops enemies ala NSMBU. This is highly unlikely, but I want it and don't give a crap.

I can't really make predictions about games I don't know exist yet, but this is what I think we might see in 9 days.

I'm telling you, Mario football, with designed plays on the game pad would be sickkk

I have a whole damned list of good shit that Iwata could do with on the WiiU that could really spice things up. I have no interest in American Football but you have a far too an obvious idea, which means it'll never happen.

I wish. :/
I Can think up of an online mode right now, where one guy uses his game pad to design offensive plays that are acted out on screen, while the other player uses his game pad to shift his defense before the play. Every play would be completely player controlled. Damn that sounds so fun aha
