This show has a great modern relevance. 1%ers fucking over the "good guys" left and right.
Jaime and Tyrion have been great characters so far. Jaime especially has gone through so much redemption in my eyes this season.
Michelle Fairey sold her final scene so damn well. The way she helplessly screamed at Robb in anguish to get out, the almost reflexive way she cut the wife's throat, the strangely silent and extremely still look on her face after Robb was killed, all life pouring out of her figuratively then literally. It just made it all the more brutal.
This is, without question, the best episode of the TV show so far.A pretty good episode, no? I liked when Walder Frey was all licking his lips over Talisa's smooth, tight body
Rob Stark is a pretty terrible leader which lead to all this.
I had to be more considerate, I was reading a copy from the library.![]()
Right, but the focus of the series so far has clearly been three dominant houses (Baratheon, Lannister, Stark) with all others orbiting about those. Baratheon is just Stannis, who seems in religious and moral turmoil, as well as disempowered after his failed attempt on King's Landing. Stark just got decimated. And Lannister ... well, I'm only caring about Tyrion, frankly.
So I think the current framing of the series kind of sets people up for this. Not sure how it works in the books, naturally.
Your comment does make a ton of sense, however, when you think that the Targaryens have to come back into this at some point. The series really has been global, but Dany's basically carrying an entire house by herself, and can't really hold up to the drama over in Westeros. (IMO, natch.)
Once again, there's no clear separation of good bad. These are human characters, they have flaws. Jaime and Tyrion's flaws are that they are loyal to their family and come on man who wouldn't be. It's their family. That and Jaime is in love with his sister and is obviously completely blinded by that love.Eh. I know people are all on Team Jamie because he's shown he's not a complete turd, whatever. Even if he saved all those people in Kings Landing, his decision to keep sticking it in his sister still resulted in the deaths of a whole lot of other innocent people. He can eat a dick.
I was on Team Tyrion too, but until he goes completely rogue on his family, which I don't think he will, he's been downgraded to neutral in The Book of Chie.

Masterfully directed. I've never read the books, but would someone who has say GRRM has to be very pleased by it? I would imagine so.
That is one of the craziest hours of television I have ever watched.
It's called a red herring. When people have a strong reaction to a character dying it means they liked the character and it was written well.
It just ended.

The Starks were the focus of the show early on and they have been portrayed to be honorable and good. Fuck, they even have a heroic theme that plays whenever you see thei house sigil. There is a reason why people are attached to them. They are the most "good" of all the houses on the show. It's very obvious

also, this thread is moving fast, so i'll ask again: does anyone know what happened to the guy that took a piss? did they show him die and i missed it? that guy was hilarious when he was teasing edmure, and i dunno why they focused on him this episode.

The Blackfish? I think that's the last you saw of him. Pretty sure they didn't show him die.
Walder was slow-rolling her intentionally.Possibly dumb question: wasn't the bride not at the lineup? if she wasn't shouldn't someone have noticed that?
I don't believe she was.Possibly dumb question: wasn't the bride not at the lineup? if she wasn't shouldn't someone have noticed that?
Are we to think that he knew that Talisa was pregnant? He did say he could see what was going on underneath the robes.A pretty good episode, no? I liked when Walder Frey was all licking his lips over Talisa's smooth, tight body
The thought never crossed my mind. This is one of my favorite shows on tv right now.Not to twist the knife or anything (so to speak), but I am very glad to see that this indeed came as a shock to you non-book-readers.
I was afraid that the show was laying it on waaaaay too thick with the Robb/Talisa pregnancy bliss, and that it would clue you folks in to the carnage to come.
Please don't dump the show. There's plenty of good stuff to come.
Hah!And now you get to miss E3 because you decided to spam troll images 3 times in a row just to annoy people. Time to ask yourself - Was it worth it?![]()
yeah I wanna see her become like that Jaqen guy. should be cool.el oh el
I'm guessing if Arya lives she's going to be a stone cold assassin. Bran seems like he has the power to be, but is much more temperate minded.
not my experience at all, the starks were pretty flatly portrayed as heroes in pretty much every conventional way. they're honest, humble, react with calmness and kindness before they act, eager to compromise, they aren't dysfunctional. they were very very blatantly classified as heroes. difference is that all the heroes are dead, which people say is ballsy. there's a difference between "ambiguous characterization" and "very obvious and simple characterization for 95% of the cast" where the "good" 47.5% of those simple characters die and the "bad" 47.5% live on and prance about.what you makes you think they are?
Whats good about GOT is the play on what is classed as a hero or villain, no character is perfect or should be viewed as a hero. Season 1 should have shown that the concept of hero does not exist in this show
That was the best episode of television I've watched since the end of the third season of Breaking Bad.
One thing we all tend to forget is that Robb was 15 fucking years old. He was good at battle strategy (he kicked the shit out of the Lannisters at pretty much every battle), but he SUCKED at politics. That was ultimately his undoing.

He absolutely knew. Are we to think that he knew that Talisa was pregnant? He did say he could see what was going on underneath the robes.
Kind of dirty old man, sure, but ... yeah.
I still cannot fucking believe it.
"That night, after the plates had been cleared, Robb carried Bran up to bed himself. Grey Wind led the way, and Summer came close behind. His brother was strong for his age, and Bran was as light as a bundle of rags, but the stairs were steep and dark, and Robb was breathing hard by the time they reached the top.
He put Bran into bed, covered him with blankets, and blew out the candle. For a time Robb sat beside him in the dark. Bran wanted to talk to him, but he did not know what to say. Well find a horse for you, I promise, Robb whispered at last.
Are they ever coming back? Bran asked him.
Yes, Robb said with such hope in his voice that Bran knew he was hearing his brother and not just Robb the Lord. Mother will be home soon. Maybe we can ride out to meet her when she comes. Wouldnt that surprise her, to see you ahorse? Even in the dark room, Bran could feel his brothers smile. And afterward, well ride north to see the Wall. We wont even tell Jon were coming, well just be there one day, you and me. It will be an adventure.
An adventure, Bran repeated wistfully. He heard his brother sob. The room was so dark he could not see the tears on Robbs face, so he reached out and found his hand. Their fingers twined together."

I don't believe she was.
I was under the impression that she was a "surprise".

Okay I've calmed down a bit.
1. Arya is like poison to her family. She was around when Ned died, and then shows up just as her mom and brother die. She needs to keep away from every other Stark less they be killed.
2. FUCK NO I'M NOT CALMED DOWN! FUCK THIS MAN!
war of the roses? lannisters v. starks . . . lancasters v. yorks . . . is this actually a thing!?
