Oh, and:

That makes sense actually. But still, this is all becoming somewhat predictable. It just doesn't feel like anyone will accomplish anything. The beginning of season two showed us Robb winning every single battle, capturing the king slayer doing all kinds of badass things. Suddenly he was changed completely, as a character, just so this could happen. The same thing happened with Khal Drogo. He was marching to Westeros, but guess what? Nothing happened, he died (though I actually kind of liked that). But its as though everything in the show is about getting you to develop these huge expectations, just so they can never come true. This makes me think that the same thing is happening with Dany, she's doing all kinds of miraculous things, but this makes me think she will not accomplish anything either.

BTW: Where is Syrio ;_;

You feel that non-book readers?

That's the feeling of a scar being carved on your heart. You won't lose it, it won't heal any better and it won't make you stronger. It'll just open.

This is the burden book readers have lived with for years.

Your welcome.

It was completely consistent with his character. Robb was winning individual skirmishes because he was an excellent tactician, and for a while at least was underestimated. He failed miserably in the broader picture because of consistent strategic failures and political blunders. Win the battle, lose the war.

I've been through it alone. We all wanted you to watch the show so we could cry together

It was less depressing than when I read the book.

I think your imagination makes it worse.

I was moping about for a week. That's one week of my life ruined by Walder Frey's fuckery.

The small differences in the book made it hit home a little harder. They REALLY emphasized that the music SUCKED. The dawning realization was soooo much slower. When it hit, the reader was caught just as surprised as Cat and Robb.

The show kinda nixed that.

BUT...

+ props to the show for Kat & Robb's insane performances. Hell, even Walder Frey leading up to it had me second guessing if he was still going to do it. He actually came off 'cool'. Credits w/no music?? so good.

My wife was speechless for 10 min.

Honor is nothing more than a hindrance in the Game of Thrones universe. Those without scruples and pools of ambition will go far and the honorable and just will perish.
Read this as Hodor and was about to ask you how you think Bran gets around.

Martin is one of the best writers currently alive on the planet. He's also one of the biggest douchebags on the planet.

I feel for everyone who didn't see it coming. I sure as hell didn't.

lol wenis nailed it

I was listening to the audiobook version of ASoS at work and I was having a great day until the RW happened.. the rest of my day was fucking ruined. A coworker asked me what was wrong.. how do you explain the magnitude of the RW? I just shook my head and didn't talk much the rest of the day lol.

The show watchers will get no sympathy from me, they at least get to cry themselves to sleep before going out in public. :P

I knew this was coming as one of the heathen book readers but my wife doesn't. I'm looking forward to watching with her tomorrow night!

I can't wait to sit down and watch it later tonight. I've been hyping the hell up for this episode to my co-workers for the past week since they've never read the book.

The Red Wedding itself doesn't seem as impressive as some of the other things that have happened and are still yet to happen throughout A Song of Ice and Fire, but no one can deny that it is still a pivotal moment.

One of my partner's co-workers is enamored by Jon Snow and Robb Stark. I can only expect tales of anguish tomorrow afternoon while I laugh heartily upon hearing them.

That was so brutal. I'm literally shacking and of course, I already knew about it, still as with Ned's death, I can't get it out of my head.

Actually the biggest thing for me was Talisa's death, it was the first blow and it was brutal. Have to wonder, was it really necessary?

Also it was the guy she was joking and laughing with at the beginning of the party. I hope he gets his balls chopped off.

This is an incredibly dumb idea for a thread. For any person who hasn't seen the episode yet, the title is a warning about something big happening.

Why not title it "Can you believe X and Y are dead?!!? Post your reactions!" while you're at it.

Something happens on the season finale! Who would have thought!

Anyone who has watched the previous seasons knows that ep 9 is the real season finale. Ep 10 is nothing but a blueballer for next season.

Nope, it's mostly a coincidence. Season 4's most shocking event might not be in ep 9. And in any case, it is more shocking that what happened in season 2. I don't think the reaction to blackwater are one tenth of RW (plus it's not like blackwater was a surprise, so there was no real need for reaction videos).

It's still a dumbass idea, sorry.

A Gaf book reader spoiled it for me 2 weeks ago, so I felt almost nothing since I knew it was coming in every line.

The entire episode felt flat for me as a result. I couldn't feel the ups and downs that everyone else felt here because my mind already knew what was coming.

People just can't stop spoiling things, even by accident.

I didn't even look at this thread. Been posting in the no book spoilers thread since 6 PM.

Isn't the title of this thread a giveaway though to folks that something big happens? I mean I knew episode 9 would be important since they were the past two seasons, but no one saw this coming.

I've been posting about this show and watching this episode over and over for 8 hours now, fucking ruined my night and morning.

Amazing episode, I haven't been that genuinely surprised from a T.V. show in a very long time. Glad a show has balls to kill off its main cast and stick to the original story.

Is the first time on NEOGAF a particular episode of a tv show gets its own thread? I haven't seen this episode yet, but whats the big deal about this episode? (I am one episode behind)

You may want to, and I say this gently, get the fuck out of the thread. :P

Robb was winning battles, but he was losing the war. Primarily because his adversary was Tywin Lannister. He was simply outmatched, broke an oath, and made terrible decisions no matter who warned him against it. And Drogo's fate was simply bad luck. He would have likely been dominate, but sometimes warlords are brought down by forces outside of the battleground.

You obviously haven't been here during the LOST days, dem episodes got new threads.

I have to agree with this. Especially when we have multiple threads for each season and for the books to try and keep people from being spoiled. I've always felt that knowing that something big is about to happen is a spoiler even if you don't know exactly what it is.

That was horrible....was not expecting that at all but I have to admit, Rob screwed up by killing Karstark. With his army he might of had a chance to take cast casterly rock but instead he is dead.

Doesn't this mean the lannisters are basically in control of westeros atleast until Daenerys gets across the sea?

I really hope the Stark's get revenge some how.....

Crazy, I saw references all over the net today to GoT, should be wicked. I haven't seen any TV since Sept. and am looking forward to catching up with everything when I have the time.

Game of Thrones
Dexter
Homeland
Justified
Hannibal
The end of Breaing Bad
Bates Motel
That netflix Kevin Spacey show

Oh man, so much great shit to watch!
