Got a brand new WiiU
Bring it Iwata!

Btw, can we watch ND live with this?

I'm not sure live (maybe via web browser), but they show up in the eShop pretty quick.

You can watch the Direct via their ustream page (which is embedded into the ND page every time). So yes. I'm always having a Direct running on the GamePad while the other two regions are running on my PC monitor.

Smash Bros however benefits greatly from one so I can't see any harm in their involvement with the Smash.

Namco's experience with online fighters is a big plus (Soul Calibur & Tekken), which will likely speed up development (not to mention Namco's experience with Wii U hardware already).

Slightly off-topic, what's the Geoff-Doritos incident?

Reggie is rocking dat 8.

Very nice

Apologies if this has been brought up recently here, but is it going to be just one universal Nintendo Direct video for all regions - in the spirit of an E3 conference? Or are there going to be three different ones for each region?

Because I'm hoping its the former.

It's probably going to be the same thing for all 3 regions.

Well I know the Pre E3 Direct last year that it was the same thing in all languages, so they might do the same for this year.

The Japanese one will be faster as in it Iwata can speak fluently. If you want to see the reveals 3 seconds before anyone else, watch the Japanese one.

In response to the Mario Kart graphics talk brought up by those screenshots of the latest arcade version, I feel like that's probably a pretty accurate estimation. I guess you can look at those and claim they lack all the detail and fancy lighting of other racing games out there, but at 60fps it's really for the best, imo. Like Mario Kart Wii, the Wii U version will look better in motion than in screens. Point is I really think people need to keep their expectations in check as far as Mario Kart graphics are concerned, because those games have always been more about how they feel than how they look.

The new 3D Mario, on the other hand, better look damn gorgeous.

I will cry many tears if they bring back that god awful shit item.

At least make it avoidable.
You can a) Back up and go into second place for a split second by keeping an eye on what items each racer has. b) Use a mushroom.

What they actually need to do it is a) make the blue shell target the person in first until the moment of impact. Currently it homes in on whoever was in first at launch and thus someone can overtake them and they still get hit. b) stop making lightning drop all your items so you can easily hold onto a mushroom. That is the item that really deserves hate.

Speaking of Zelda, some of you brought up earlier that the cut content from Wind Waker likely showed up in altered form in Twilight Princess.

However, recalling this: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/news250705zelda I don't think they would put out the Wind Waker simply as-is without doing any work to address their own criticisms of the game. Aonuma even had the UI for OoT 3D retooled to improve navigation in the Water Dungeon, again, fixing a major issue of the original.

At the very least, we can assume the Triforce Hunt has been retooled. And someone suggested that a Boss Rush mode has been added to the game. Wind Waker also has a New Game Plus mode in the original game where not much is changed other than your outfit, that you can read the Hylian language and that you start out with the PictoBox DX. I hope they maybe tweak the difficulty to make it a little harder or at least up the damage output from enemies and reduce support item drops like in Skyward Sword's Hero Mode.

If something happens in the dungeon department probably depends entirely on how much time they had with this updated version. I would hope they either added original designs of the ones left out or retooled the existing ones for the NG+ mode.

All we can say for sure is that they WILL be adding something. Every re-release of a prior game has had new content of some form. Mostly it was one entirely new dungeon.

Your link is dead.

In a desperate last effort, Iwata sacrifices himself to deliver that which could save us all.

The Last Bomb, coming to an E3 near you.

Why is Metroid and Fox in the background?

Im bowing.

You should not bow to him for creating Sunshine, you gotta get rid of that from the quote!

What would really make this E3 for me would be a brand new Retro IP, it would be great to see the creative gears of Retro and Nintendo run wild again, in a more mature path. All this talk of a 90 minute Pokemon X and Y leads me to believe in a possible cross - Wii U play, which would similarly be amazing. All aboard the hype train!

Also, hello everyone! This is my first post :D

link works fine for me

Hmm, not working for me then, I'll just look at a cached version of it. =/

As for your point, I think people feel that Nintendo won't introduce something like a new dungeon and stuff. I don't think anyone will deny that they won't make improvements to Wind Waker like with the UI and sailing.

Personally, I think it would be wonderful if we got at least 1 new dungeons, with 4 new ones being the perfect amount for me (Nayru's Pearl, 3 Triforce pieces).

Replaying through Wind Waker at the moment and changing wind direction isn't as cumbersome as people make it out to be, but that could be because I know where I'm going. I also hope they change gameplay to match Twilight Princess' which I think nailed the sword combat (without motion controls).

Yea I think their track record speaks for the inclusion of new actual gameplay content. They never just fart something out (unless it's a Wario game).

I completely agree about the sword combat, I loved the pre-SS style (also SS's combat). Wouldn't mind if they brought that in line with TP as well.
