I keep telling everyone that the sanest thing for nintendo to do in the short term to kickstart their base would be to put out Super Smash Bros HD: Online this year with Brawl + Melee to test out the netcode for SSB4. And then, for a limited time, include a beta key for SSB4.

It would be relatively easy for them to do, cost pennies, and push millions to pick up the console. It's the biggest sure-fire, guaranteed system seller that I can think of that they could realistically put out this year, even bigger than 3D mario

I'd buy at least one.

I say that's a solid idea. Especially for testing the netcode, oh man do they need to make sure that works right.

Does anyone know if High Voltage Software are cooking up anything for the Wii U? I know the Conduit games were fairly average, but I reckon these devs have the potential to make use of the gamepad in a unique way.

I remember this rumor last year where it said that The Grinder is now a Wii U exclusive and that's why they haven't been talking about it yet.

Don't know if it's true or not obviously.

They tested The Conduit 2 on the 3DS, but otherwise I can't remember hearing anything about them recently, apart from that god awful iOS port.

Considering how much they were pushing out on the wii's hardware I have a feeling they could create an absolutely astounding wiiU engine.

...and then give it out to other companies because, honestly the games were not bad but they were far from great.

I'm still confused as to why we haven't got a FPS on the 3DS. I mean, I figured that Nintendo would love to have someone release a decent FPS to show of the 3D. I mean, the DS had numerous amounts of FPS but the 3DS, which is way better graphically, can't even get one?

Yeah they did pretty well with Wii hardware, and seeing how the Wii version looked graphically better than the PS3/360/PC version that should tell you something.

Yeah, The Grinder completely disappeared off the map. Interesting.

I wouldn't be shocked if this rumor is true, Nintendo picking it up could do well for the FPS-horror genre on Wii U.

Watch this be like the mid-2000s Nintendo E3s where the presentation was boring or unsurprising and then the press package on their site randomly includes totally new games and trailers that they didnt show off for whatever reason.

It could be wiiU's answer to Frostbite 3.

Only wait it could be that is if it's an amazing engine.

I know they did that for E3 2011, hours later I found out they are making Mario Party 9 and I was like "WTF?"

This is the same site that just posted that *LEAKED OMG EXCLUSIVE* Nintendo Direct screenshot of the Youtube page that leaked all the Direct games.

So yeah take that with a grain of salt.

That's how we got Xenoblade (Monado at the time). I was instantly interested just looking at the screenshots. Reminded me a lot of FF12.

Holy shit, The Grinder. I completely forgot about that. Is High Voltage even really developing original stuff anymore? I thought they were basically working on mobile games and awful licensed stuff. (Kinect Star Wars).

It was? Lol, ok I'll take it with a grain of salt than.

I do remember another statement from a person saying that Project Hammer is now a Wii U game but it looks completely different than it did on the Wii.

Yeah, a lot of the first 3DS titles were revealed that way for some reason.

Also W101 and Game and Wario last year.

Game and Wario was shown during the conference, but I was so disappointed with that conference that seeing W101 made me more depressed.

Xenoblade was another one. 2009 was downright decent by today's E3 standards, but had a lot of dead air and people were mixed in opinion at the time. Then after the show people discover that Nintendo stealthily revealed Monolith's new console RPG on a press site with no fanfare.

Should we watch the Japanese or American Direct?

I usually watch the Japanese one to see more games (that I will never play), but this isn't the Tokyo Game Show.

EDIT: What's the joke I'm missing with this Mother 4 tarp image?

If they had shown Xenoblade/Monado in its full glory at the press conference people would have shit themselves.

It's weird how Nintendo just doesn't care about some stuff. Metroid + Xenoblade would have blown minds.

But I can't watch both at the same time! What if one has spoilers for the other?
It's not spoilers if you learn the information from either one. :)

If you see something on the Japanese ND [such as Mother HD Collection] you can still hope/pray that it's announced for the NA ND. If it is, SURPRISE! If not...

...tables will be flipped.

I would probably get myself banned in rage if this was announced for Japan and not for the west
