hooooooooly sh

Edit: wait............

Is "prefer not to say" a polite way of implying Kamiya gets shitty on the reg. Because I'd go hard in the paint with him any day

Reggie would just be drinking a white wine spritzer by himself in the corner

I posted this in the other Nintendo E3 related thread, but this one seems way livelier:

So, this rumor is super-old, but I had no idea all of this info on Zedla Wii U was out there:

http://**************/2012/09/wii-u-zelda-game-coming-2014/

I guess it's semi-legit too, as the guy has been right with Wii U stuff in the past. I love the Windwaker and SS style (actually playing through SS right now for the first time, it's starting to really pick up and become fun) but I wish they would do that more realistic style they demoed. I guess it's Spaceworld 2000 all over again, but hey, last time we got Windwaker out of it, which is still my favorite Zelda game of all time, so I'm fine with that.

Besides the graphics though, everything else sounds absolutely awesome. They seem to be really doubling down on the importance of Zelda, making it even bigger and bolder. I really can't wait to see what it shapes up to be.

EDIT: Oh, boy...that's a locked site? Maybe it's not as reliable as I thought.

Is there any way we see this Zelda game at the Nintendo Direct? Maybe through actual gameplay, a trailer, or just a name? If this guy's source is correct, then they'd have to show something if it's a title planned for 2014, right?

I remember that rumor its pure BS fanfiction.

Time really is passing by slowly... Needs moar impossible predictions and exaggerated speculation! :P

HYPE!

Yeah it's like I keep looking at this thread and it keeps saying 8 days.

....well, in the EST I guess it's seven days now. One week, holy shit. It's weird being more excited for a one hour e3 video than the game releases itself. Seems so wrong. Then again, the day before Pikmin 3 comes out.....

Honestly, I wouldn't hold stock in any Nintendo related rumours. Ever. Every year it's the same song and dance. Someone claiming sources, list of info, fantasy scenarios, too good to be true, Nintendo wins E3, etc etc. And each and every year it turns out to be wrong. Time and time again. It's a constant you could bet on!

The only time Nintendo E3 rumours turn out to be true or leading in the right direction are when they come from reliable, consistent sources that are in a position to know (see: IGN's Donkey Kong and "realistic Zelda" pre-conference leaks). After all, this is the kind of company that can announced a double Platinum Games partnership, Team Ninja Metroid, Namco heading Smash, and games like Yarn Yoshi, without even the slightest hint or leak prior.

Nintendo has proven to be one of the greatest iron fortress of game details in the industry, arguably to the point of flaw. Any website waffling off trust-with-my-life sources (hello, Zelda Informer) and anonymous GameFAQs/IGN/NeoGAF posts are immediately suspect. If it were another company with a history of leaks from reliable sources, sure. But Nintendo? Yeah, no. All leaks are 99.9% made up fantasies.

Yep.

And they're ALWAYS better than what Nintendo will ever do.

So true. Every year, like clockwork, one or two cuckoos come out with 'certain' rumours. Don't believe the BS!

Exept the startropic rumor because I want to believe it.
But I dont.

Its strange they haven't announced a Nintendo 3ds direct for e3 by now. Could they be showcasing both systems on this one direct?

Well, all the "Nintendo Stream" rumors were true..except for the name.

Either that or they're gonna showcase it a couple days later. They usually only announce 1 direct at a time so if they are holding another separate 3DS direct expect it to be announced immediately after the WiiU direct. Although im not sure what i'd expect out of a 3DS direct seeing as the previous one (before Sonic) pretty much handled that. Who knows though.

Wasn't there a leaked roster list for Smash Brawl that ended up being true? Though of course it was in the midst of fake ones from others.

It was. I can't remember if I had a GAF account at the time, but I believe that rumour came from an apparently reliable source on GAF, or someone familiar to the GAF community.

It was immediately dismissed by SmashBoards for another reason most rumours turn out to be untrue: it was realistic, and not a fantasy wonderful. Folk at SmashBoards were going apeshit over the possibility of stuff like Ridley, and other entirely new characters. The leaked roster included clones, specifying the Flaco + Wolf duo, and people just wouldn't believe simply because the prospect of there being three characters based on one moveset was too outrageous.

Which were these?

They wouldn't miss the chance to promote what's coming at the most important news traffic time of the year I think. Even if it is to further talk about the games we know little about, like zelda or yoshi, plus they could also show Sonic and mario party more extensively. Did they announce the 3ds show last year also at the last minute?

I believe so. I wasn't following gaming news last year as much but I remember them announcing the 3DS software showcase at the end of their main E3 presentation to be held at a later date.

I think it was a partially true list. But being partially correct is easy.

My rule of thumb was always as follows: If the roster rumor had the words "Ridley" in it, it was immediately 100% false. And since 99% of them always do, it's easy to weed them out. The other 1% are conservative guesses.

A few new words to add to the list: "Snake is in", "Bayonetta", "Isaac".

There were a few accurate leaked rosters, yeah but it was very close to launch, not this far away.

I unfortunately got dragged into that mess, as I was given a partial one by one of my sources and was constantly saying when ones were fake, and people started to notice a pattern. People back then ended up forging conversations with me where I allegedly revealed the roster to them.

Good times

What were these "realistic Zelda" leaks? I'm curious now. Didn't know that.

No, it's one of worker's artwork from Sora LTD or Namco-Bandai. Sakurai took picture of welcome sign and posted it on twitter. Couple of hours later, it got deleted for some reason.
Because he got pissed off that people were using a bit of artwork he just wanted to show off to fuel Smash speculation?

If I recall correctly, Matt Cassamawhatever posted an anagram of "Realistic Zelda" on the IGN forums shortly before or just as the then E3 press conference was starting. Low and behold, Twilight Princess was revealed at the end.

I think it was a partially true list. But being partially correct is easy.

There were a few lists floating around at the time. One was very specific, possibly partial, but detailing multiple characters and their relative move lists, while contesting the popular expectations from fans or other lists. That was the one that was 100% spot on and coming from a reliable source, while generally contested by people who didn't like the idea of three Fox-like characters and their favourites failing to make the list.

This was right before the game's launch, mind you.
