Bloober Team, the Polish development studio responsible for Last Flight and Music Master Chopin, has announced Basement Crawl as its next project. Beyond the fact that the game is a PlayStation 4 title set to drop within the console's release window, however, nothing else is known about the game.

Well, and that it's got this clown in it presumably. We're sorry about that, by the way, it's just that we had to see this clown thing, and so now you do also – we just can't take the full brunt of its nightmare fuel. By sharing it with you, our most beloved readers, its terrible power is diluted and eventually we'll be able to defeat it. But at what cost?

From BlooperTeam website they've worked on the following projects in the past:
  • A-MEN
  • LAST FLIGHT
  • MUSIC MASTER CHOPIN
  • PAPER WARS: CANNON FODDER
  • EGYPT:ENGINEERING AN EMPIRE
  • FUTURE FIGHT
  • DOUBLE BLOOB

I've never heard of a single one of those games. Also, that clown is creepy as fuck.

Not to go too far off topic, but have we heard anything else about that game that had the creepy dollhouse look?

Will this game actually release?

I'm still waiting for Sadness.

If you're still waiting for it, then it already arrived.

Also, Bloober Team's history is quite weird if you think of it - Nibris becoming its own spinoff.

never heard of them. saw the names of some of the games. never heard of any.

EDIT: wait. Paper Wars? I heard of that lol

EDIT: oh. made by ifunall. nvm.

Gettin' a big Nibris vibe here.
It's the same guys running the company

Whoa, before people jump to conclusions, I'm not sure that Bloober Team are the SAME guys (though Piotr Babieno is the CEO of both.) They're guys who, yes, were connected to The Sadness guys but were also separate even early on (like Guerrila's early teams before Killzone, or maybe like Rare's old portable group?) and further established themselves as separate from Nibris once that all got creepy and awful. I remember knowing about Bloober around the same time Sadness started to gain whispers, and I've seen the name in European game listings long after the silence fell on Sadness.

And unlike Nibris, they've shipped games. They put out a DS puzzler called Bloober Team, a PS3/Vita game called A-Men (like Lemmings but one character,) and helped out on conversions of PSP games like History Egypt and Paper Wars. They have vaporware in their portfolio, for sure (anybody remember the promises of Last Flight?,) but they do produce and they have as of late been ramping up.

They also have some connection with iFun4all (the guys really behind Paper Wars... they also put out something called Crap of Defense, and although it's been pulled from the store, their own official Crap of Defense press release for it is hysterical and endearing) and they are established guys if you don't trust Bloober.

All these guys are working together on publishing a bunch of PS3 and Vita titles in studios in Poland. There's a portable/console version of the F2P game Deathmatch Village, there's something for Vita called Die! Die! Die!, and there's this PS4 thing. By those standards, people expecting some big sort of The Sadness-level promise/flameout may be disappointed that this PS4 announcement is probably a downloadable game and probably not something that'll be hysterically over-promised; it might actually ship even. Then again, I'm still waiting for Future Fight on my PSP...

Here's a recent interview with Bloober, which may be overpraising the team as "best Polish Vita developer" since the competition is not exactly fierce: http://mypsvita.pl/review/bloober-team-best-polish-vita-developer/

Yeah, I mean... yeah. Look, they're a little Polish development group that has big dreams and dumb notions of feasibility. I get that people hate them for over-promising, but half that over-promise came from the press printing "big, Big, BIG" off the whisper campaign without knowing jack-all. I guess I just cut them a lot of slack as a portable guy because they've supported PSP Minis through partners and they promised a Vita launch title and actually delivered it. Somebody who tells you they're gonna make a game and then never do, I don't mind because they never took my money, it's all just a curiosity on the hype train to vaporwareville; it's the guys who make promises not to be kept or knowingly cut corners that bug me. But certainly it's stupid to have big expectations for this clown-thing game.
