Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

The indie games the Vita is getting, by and large, are pretty damn good. I can't pick many examples off of the top of my head that I'd consider to be crap.

People are crying that omg late ports of 2012 indie titles but at least it means it's mostly those which were successfull to some degree. So average quality is much higher.

Top of page recomendation:

Persona 4
Soul Sacrifice
Mutant Blobls

Fuck JRPGs, 'AAA' or otherwise. They're shite. Just play the ones that are already compatible since they're all the same anyway.

I dig the indie support.

the best game on the Vita is a jrpg, period

glad your happy about us getting fieldrunners 2 though.. god knows we need some more iphone portjobs on here

ya ya indie games are nice and all, good to purchase here and there during dry spells or quick pick up and play sessions between my main games

but i didnt pay sony $350 (Vita+mem card) to play 2 year old ports of hipster platformers

Id be complaining a LOT less about Limbo or Guacamelee if i was currently playing Gravity Rush 2 or Uncharted 2 or some other retail AAA game and just playing the smaller games in between

Good games are good games. You knew what you signed up for when you bought it, don't complain too much.

I don't think there's a AAA Vita game anyway.

Actually we do.

Shadowgun deadzone
walking dead
warhammer quest
hunters 1 and 2
bards tale
Civ Rev
dungeon raid
bastion
minecraft PE
lostwinds 1 and 2
Beat hazard ultra

and tons more would be fantastic on Vita.

Getting an Xperia ZL this week (and an Xperia Z tablet when it comes out in my country), so I have to ask: What are the best PS Mobile games? I'm looking at picking up 10 or so. Preferably ones that work well with touch screens, but I still have a Vita so I don't mind suggestions that work well with buttons too.

Also, how does the Jak and Daxter Trilogy for Vita look? The first trailer had loads of frame rate problems. Have they been sorted out yet? I've never played Jak & Daxter games, but they look really interesting.

I know I'd love X-COM, a full release of Warhammer Quest and the Final Fantasy DS ports/Tactics update.

Oh, and Space Hulk. iPhone has numerous games I'd love to play with buttons.

I can't muster sympathy for people that buy their hardware for a specific type of game before those games are actually released. Things aren't that predictable. Who'd have thought 360 would get more 2D shooters than the PS3?

You're better to wait for the games and then buy the hardware.

the best game on the Vita is a jrpg, period
Not according to me, obviously!

glad your happy about us getting fieldrunners 2 though.. god knows we need some more iphone portjobs on here
Fieldrunners > JRPGs.
We certainly do. As many games as possible. I don't recall being especially happy about Fieldrunners 2 though. I downloaded it on iPhone and barely touched it. Can't remember why, I loved the first one.

And free if you got the PS3 version on plus.

I'm well happy :-) 7 games on PS+ this month, 5 playable on vita if you count the remote play ones.
Are you sure about this chap?

It didn't seem that way from the web store. Where Limbo PS3 used to say 'purchased', it now says £9.99, as does the Vita version.

i thought i knew what i signed up for. Sony touting the most powerful handheld ever made? near console quality graphics? games that can benefit from a second analog stick?

They might not be AAA, but out of the gates we were getting games like Unit 13, uncharted, wipeout, UMVC3, etc

with known titles on the horizon like Resistance, Assassins Creed, etc

how was i supposed to know that Sony would flip flop and start focusing on mostly 2d indie games?

We still have KZ coming, and all the "indie" games we're getting are more than enough to hold us over until the PS4 releases and some of the heat gets taken off of it

Yeah Limbo is cross-buy, so if you got it in any way (free or purchased outright) on PS3, you get it for free on Vita. :D

yeah killzone ok im down with that

what else you got for me?

im fine with some indie games here and there, god knows i had to buy a few to get through the slower months (mutant blobs, dokuro, escapevektor, etc)

but what is the PS4 gonna do? how does that help me with my vita? remote play? no good when your offline

and i didnt buy the vita to remotely play games in a gimped fashion. do you really wanna play games designed for clickable sticks and 4 triggers all shoehorned into the abomination that is the rear touchpad?

your ignoring the core issue here. Its not that theres a shortage of things to play, if you wanna get technical. Its that 99% of the stuff coming out is digital only (not preferable) and not really utulizing the horsepower of the vita, which is what i wanna see

its just like the 3ds, i dont play silly old rom dumps of NES games or stuff like dillons rolling western... i bought it to play mario 3d land, RE REvelations, etc

there can absolutely be a market for both big budget RETAIL releases and indie downloadables together on one system... but when the release calendar is extremely skewed to one side, the other side is bound to complain... rightfully so

seems like it is only in US but i cold be wrong and it might be corrected for you guys soon. i was able to download on vita for free because i had the ps3 version here in US.

I reckon so, because they've taken it back down. No doubt it'll be back up soon for free.

I can't believe it. I've never known a piece of hardware get so many free games, many of which are free on day one. Nuts.

I was promised "Console gaming on the go", not "indie gaming on the go". I was expecting something more like the PSP, which had a solid string of PS2 quality releases its first few years.

Indie games might be good, but I really don't like them for the most part, and especially not at the prices being charged.

Most of the games the Vita has gotten I could have gotten for the PC for 1/5 the price by now (or less, thanks to those humble bundles). But I personally didn't want them on PC for that cheap.

Not to mention, if I really, really wanted indie games, I would have bought an android tablet. For less money.

Limbo is an old game. It was in a humble bundle last year for the PC, which means you could have gotten it for a $5 or less, along with Bastion.

That was a great deal. Paying $15 for Limbo and $15 for Bastion and getting it on two different platforms is not.

Early adopters are never given what they're promised

There's probably more, it's the the only one I'm interested in.

My point with the PS4 is that it's arguably Sony's primary focus right now and the PSV the third and final focus. Once they don't have to push it as much as they are now perhaps the Vita will get more attention

And E3 is right around the corner, wait a bit, we might be surprised.

I love how this thread (well, the same 2 or 3 people) always goes back to whining that indie games are available in good numbers on the Vita.

Look y'all, your precious spin-offs of AAA generic games will be announced in 5 days. Chill out.

Dillons rolling western is one of the best games on the 3DS
certainly better than resident evil IMO

Or, to look at it from my perspective: I bought Limbo in a Steam sale for about £2. Never got around to completing it because my PC was on a dedicated setup that I didn't use much. A few weeks back, I got Limbo PS3 for free. Figured I'd probably get around to completing it this time, but what do you know, I haven't even downloaded it yet. Fast forward to today and I get given it free again, this time on a platform that I spend a lot of time on. Limbo will probably be completed before the end of the evening. Score!

I got Limbo for Ps3 over PS+ a few months ago.
Just downloaded the Vita version for free. It's 133MB.
Nice, I probably won't even need to clear the fridge out.

cuz im not

Alright, followed everyone on this list:

Toro Friend Network has taken over my Vita inexplicably. Those stupid little square headed caricatures are stupid. And adorable. I haven't even been down into a dungeon yet. WTF am I doing?

Reason why I'm not downloading it. Seems like the silly simple stuff that'd distract me from finally clearing my backlog this month. Hitlist: Rayman Legends Origins, Soul Sacrifice Platinum and Persona 4 (the dungeons are such boring slogs).

You never know some more stuff might be getting announced at E3. If Sony are mainly concentrating on indie games its because bigger devs arn't interested in the platform due to poor sales. They are hoping the indie games will get more people to buy the system and then publishers might be more interested.

The Vita isn't exactly selling great and they are just trying what they can to turn that around. Who knows if they will succeed or not. However the first few years of many consoles life is touch and go as they try and convince people to buy a newer system.

It's quite clear you hate I indies for some reason, doesn't make them less than AAA offerings

i dont hate all indies

but theres no way dillons rolling western is better than REvelations, just no

I loved Hotline Miami... and woo the Vita is getting that, but again, already played it.. its old now

Same with Lone Survivor, one of my fav survival horror titles... but played that one quite a while ago too

and are we really excited for Terraria and Walking Dead? more ports of old indie games?

i think the issue besides lack of big vita titles is that the indie games we are getting are not new... where are the indie titles exclusive and unique to the Vita that a lot of us havent played before?

I should have known... instead I've been playing mostly Pinball Arcade and Toro Friend Network while I have yet to beat Gravity Rush or Disgaea 3 or Ninja Gaiden.

At least I was able to beat Bioshock Infinite last night. Probably because Toro doesn't work on my computer.

Guacamelee is one of the top 5 games of the year bro, get this shit out of here. :lol

I'm just waiting for TxK, Killzone, Ys, spelunky, Tearaway, Jak & Daxter collection, Sly collection, FFX and FFX-2 remakes.

Vita gets lot's of love. <3

Just add an Infamous title, some fresh FPS games and I'm happy

Maybe sell your vita? Doesn't seem like you're enjoying it too much

um no

i have a library of 20+ retail games that i have enjoyed

i just need more of those

ive justified the purchase of the vita with Persona 4 golden alone, over 120+ hours

Limbo is a perfect Port from what I can tell so far.
