German GamePro gave 88% (Print issue 07/13)

Graphics
+ lots of detailed locations
+ disturbing monster design
+ life like animations
- inconsistent visual quality

Sound
+ superb subtle soundtrack
+ great sound effects
+ good German dub
- the voices are sometimes out of sync

Positives / negatives
+ Ellie and Joel
+ variety
+ satisfying stealth gameplay
+ heartbreaking moments
- AI acting weird
- skill system partially irrelevant

Just a note to say this almosyt certainly will not be true for the English version. It is Naughty Dog, after all :P

WHAT? lol.

Thanks for the run down.

But are these all of the cons? Sounds very nitpicky, especially since it only got an 88.

If I didn't see a score I would've assumed a higher score.

Well it's not a metacritic publication so i guess it's irrelevant.

Yeah it's the Gamepro.
They say "good german dub" as a positive...but it was horrible in the Demo. Will definitely play with english voices.

edge -

ND have broken free from the few constraints that held Uncharted back from masterpiece status. You're playing an average joe and the gameplay reflects that. There is none of the ludonarrative dissonance of Drake who piles up hundreds of bodies. There is a greater sense of exploration that is rewarded aptly with loot, journal entries, recorders etc. Great sense of character and geographical progression.

"The Last of Us strips away the geek-centric fan service so commonplace in contemporary games." "Naughty Dog has delivered the most riveting, emotionally resonant story-driven epic of this console generatin."

Glad to hear that, I was a really concerned that all the positives were due to the story and not the actual gameplay and environment.

Anyone else feel like they'd be 10 times more hyped for GTAV if it weren;t for this, even though they;re nothing like eachother?
GTA has always has a strange instant build up because R* are so limiting in the material they release. It might not seem like it now, but a week before GTA hits, GAF will be frantic.

Yep, the internet goes crazy before a GTA release, unlike any other game really. By the time GTA V is set to come out there will be hardly any talk of TLOU except for people saying "TLOU is GOTY not GTA V"

And here we go

Maybe in the short term but in the long term it really does not. If you asked people what was their GOTG there would be more Uncharted 2's on that list than GTAIV

But that´s because GTA IV was rather disappointing (for a GTA), GTA V looks much much better so far.

That is objectively false. It's obvious that Sony put money aside regarding a practical german synchronisation when you hear their voices, whereas the brazilian community got, for the first time from Sony, a very decent brazilian portuguese synchronisation from popular actors after the huge complaints from brazilian gamers. I think compromises regarding synchronisation payments have been received.

So they say something that objectively sucks is a pro and they're being nitpicky to give the game "only an 88"?

Yeah, here we go.

Not to say early embargos isn't good, and a good indication of a games success..but I do think it's really irrelevant when a game embargo lifts..whether early or on the day of release.

The only time I get worried is when it's something really fishy like what Activision did with there shitty Walking Dead game, sending out very few review copies, and sending those review copies on the day of the actual release.

Now that's a good indicator of a shitty ass game that a publisher has no to little faith in.

After getting burned on Aliens Coloniel Marines lies from pre release footage and the embargo not lifting till release I feel that any game that is embargoed till release date is guilty of the same thing until proven otherwise.
