73rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders of Nintendo Co., Ltd
For the “Wii U” system, there were some delays in software development that resulted in intervals between new software title releases at the early stage of this calendar year. Taking this into consideration, we plan to concentrate on proactively releasing key Nintendo titles from the second half of this year through next year in order to regain momentum for the platform. Nintendo strives to improve the sales by communicating the compelling nature of our hardware and software to as many people as possible through our new network service called “Miiverse,” which offers an environment where people can empathize with others and share their gaming experiences. We also strive to reduce costs to improve hardware profitability.

In addition to the above, to adapt to the changes in the environment surrounding the video game market, increase the number of sales opportunities and improve profitability, we will expand the digital business by way of distributing paid add-on content and packaged software content in a digital format. We also reorganized the development divisions to increase hardware and software development efficiency, and strive to strengthen medium and long-term competitiveness. Furthermore, in order to offer various software titles, we will increase joint development with outside software developers and build an environment, such as “Nintendo Web Framework,” which enables developers to create software for “Wii U” using web technology.

Show us the goods already Nintendo!!

Aonuma officially confirms 60 FPS in 3D mode for Zelda: Link to the Past 3DS sequel

“The game runs at 60FPS, while all the 3D games up till now have run at 30fps. The faster the framerate, the more stable the 3D effect, so 60FPS is a big deal.”

“Well, there are players who don’t like 3D and always keep it switched off, so there’s nothing in the game that absolutely requires 3D, like puzzles that can’t be solved without it.”

The Aonuma hate is ridiculous.
Why? He has ruined one of Nintendo's most beloved franchises, he has continually failed to understand what went wrong. He thinks WW is a great Zelda game, when it is one of the weakest entries, the only redeeming point of the game are the graphics (hyperbole, but the game was mediocre and dragged a lot).

It's not his fault alone, obviously Nintendo as a company has allowed this, but his failed direction of the games is certainly not what Zelda games need or what people want from it.

[nerd rant]
Zelda games nowadays are plagued with stupid design decisions, handholding, giving puzzles answers, forced tutorials, stupid controls just for the sake of it (controls in SS were awful with the Wiimote +, when in TP they worked awesome with normal Wiimote, stylus controls worked, but were not optimal, buttons+arrows would have worked better, and DS games suffered from controls, because there were practically no enemies and everything felt like a chore, motion controls in SS were WORSE than in Wii Sports 2, etc), easy enemies that require no strategy (and when they do require, it is a chore) and the awful story.

Message to Nintendo: Stories in videogames suck, especially yours. Every single one of them. The story of Mario Galaxy, FF, DQ, all your Zelda games, MGS, etc etc. Stories are a means to an end, keep them short and simple. NSMB, SMG2, DKCR are games released by you that got the story right. Bad guy destroys the world, you destroy the bad guy. Bad guy kidnap the princess, you rescue the princess. Bad guy steal your bananas, you beat the crap out of him. END

There's also the loot, why do Zelda games need fucking loot?? I mean, I love collecting useful shit, money, bombs, hearts, pieces of hearts, etc; but when you start collecting stupid shit just to sell it and buy superfluous crap that does nothing (ship parts, train parts, etc), you know something is wrong.
[/nerd rant]

I'm really hyped for Nintendo Direct, I hope there is a price cut of the WiiU+new bundles, since I don't think I'd enjoy Nintendoland very much and don't want to pay $50 for it.

The thing that is keeping me from buying the white WiiU is that it doesn't have the discount on digital titles, and since games are more expensive here ($80 dollars), if I buy a WiiU, I'll buy everything from bargain bins (games don't go much lower here) or digital from a low tax Canadian state...

I expected this, but confirmation is oh so nice

I can't tell if TheGreatMightyPoo is playing along with the joke or actually thinks I don't know who Samus and Master Chief are, lol.

Hey, while we're at it, I wonder why they make Zelda look like a dude in the Zelda games? It's a girl's name but he's clearly a guy in a green tunic.

I also wonder how Star Fox is doing, he's so cool with his X-wing, but man George Luca must not be happy.

Dream partnerships:
Wave Race Unleashed: Monster Games - 2015
Yoshi: Level 5 and Studio Ghibli (sorry Good-Feel)
Star Fox: Treasure
Metroid 2D: WayForward
Metroid 3D: Retro (yes, I want another)
F-Zero: Shin'en

Random, vaguely E3-related question, but... how would people respond if Nintendo announced another Kirby's Tilt n' Tumble game for Wii U? I feel like it'd be perfect for the system, given the gyro controls and all, and since they were planning a Game Cube version of the game back in the day.

I wouldn't mind but would prefer a sequel to power paintbrush, loved that one.

Someone feed me rumors! This year's pre-E3 has been ridiculously low on them.

For "credible" rumors, see here: E3 2013 Tracking List.

I thought of Mario Paint and thought it would be a good fit for the WiiU GamePad. It appears (according to the very reputable Wikipedia), that Pipeworks Software, developer of uDraw for the Wii, is working on a WiiU title. Could that be Mario Paint? :p

Iwata is dropping an atomic bomb and everybody is going to die

There's something massively hilarious about the idea that Square might end up announcing a new Final Fantasy game at exactly the same time Monolith's X gets a full reveal.

There should be a "new" Wii U game revealed by IGN this week. Wasn't Rich tweeting about that?

Thank god it wasnt "interesting". Btw about that I have a feeling the EA guy at the ms conference were thinking "dont say unprecedented, dont say unprecedented, dont say unprecedented" over and over again when he announced the special relationship.

Well, they are having secret final fantasy event during their press event, not nintendo direct. I don't think we need to worry about it.
