The event is from 9 - 10 a.m. in the vicinity of E3, which means it overlaps with Nintendo's scheduling for its press event.

If we relive the history of Square Enix announcements at E3... say, 2008 and 20009 in specific... there is typically something that happens not long after.
Why else would there be five different first-page threads about Square-Enix?

OP should add this is most likely the Nintendo Software Showcase which starts at 10:30AM PDT and not the Nintendo Direct which starts at 7AM PDT. An event most likely won't take place at 7AM PDT and Chris seems to refer to Nintendo's event as one you would go to, which you don't go to a Nintendo Direct lol.

Seriously, it's funny if they tease something on a website because most of the time, it's a browser/mobile game, but they're not going to hold an event at E3 just to show people iOS games. Though I think there are a few that'll be on the show floor though since they have that Guardian-whatever one on the Japanese E3 page.
I... don't know if this was their choice exactly since sometimes scheduling during events like these just so happen to overlap and you're screwed out of something because of a weirdass schedule.

It's not a 'secret', they'll probably be doing demos for the press, which will then be reported on straight afterwards. They've probably not got a demo for the show floor for the public and having a livestream for a demo is a bit pointless.
