Yes this decision does not build confidence but, If Microsoft at the beginning of their press conference addresses the main issue people have with the console everything will be alright. Their is also the possibility they could just completely try to ignore the drm issues people have and just try to distract them with all the games they are gonna show. I'm glad E3 is close because hopefully we will finally get some real answers out of Microsoft.
 
You guys are missing the point....they don't need a roundtable with the gaming press because gamers are not the target audience. They cancelled the roundtable so they could show up on Oprah

I am really trying to remain optimistic about this new console, and really enjoy my Xbox 360. Honestly? I am struggling to stay positive about the Xbox One until after E3 then make my decision. ...I hope it ends up in a win for Microsoft.

Agreed. Microsoft will be the most forthcoming multi-billion dollar corporation that was or ever shall be in attendance at E3 after next week. They will walk on stage and bare themselves before us - naked and unafraid, they will stare unflinchingly into the world's eyes and utter a single sentence.

"The Xbox One can play video games."

The roar following that proclamation will be so loud, so profound that it will drown out the sounds of the world's oceans.

Just think about this: the entire debacle of Xbox One was considerably motivated by the bizarrely unfocused PR and straight up lies. Imagine how much they'll allow to remain unanswered, letting gamers rip into them for God knows how many months, because it seems they want to be a pussy. The result will be exactly what has been doing on since January 2013, non-stop bad press. What are they doing? I've lost track of theories that seem viable anymore since this shit is too crazy

I don't know, listening to their podcasts shows that their opinion of the Xbox conference was pretty negative across the board. Gertsmann's position on the DRM controls is that Microsoft wants Live to operate like Steam, which in itself is alright, but the rumored 24-hour window is too small. It's pretty acceptable for forumers to throw skepticism out the window and write long screeds condemning features that are later proven to not actually exist, but journalists can't step out in the same fashion

I'm pretty sure the Xbox division has been running comfortably in the black for a few years now, though the entire first Xbox was a loss-leader. The PS3 eked out profitable quarter once in 2008, and in fiscal year 2010 but ran up losses every other year. In 2012 alone, the Playstation division lost about $2.75 billion, wiping out the gains they made in 2010 while accounting for half of Sony's company-wide losses the same year.
 
Well this probably is the best course of action at the moment with all the heat they are getting, though if Sony does one and they don't it might look kind of bad..
 
That sure isn't their prime time lately. Yet another week or bad PR spins, failed damage control attempt and information under "TBA" form and now the possible downgrade of the CPU + this show cancelled?

I guess they are ready to sink? Or maybe they are extra confident about the E3 conference bein the "be all end all" of all conferences??
 
I suppose MSFT expects even their most loyal fans to sit by them even though they handle this Xbone like crap. I don't even know why anyone would want one at this point in time. Not until E3 sheds more light but I'm afraid we will still have more questions and will continue to be left in the dark and given run-around excuses.
 
Well someone said in another thread that this is part of Microsoft's plan.
They are spending so much money to make sure that other companies do not show even multiplatform games on PS4 at E3 , not at the presser and not even on the sales floor and that they canceled their Post E3 press round table so that they will have more time to spend with loyal press and loyal companies and they will not need the presser.
This makes more sense to be than all of this doom and gloom stuff.

Yes there will still be press interviews. Which is why no one who was actually attending the roundtable cares about it's cancellation.
 
Maybe they are not going to announce a release date or price for the XBO? I don't know. I feel this is amateur hour over at MS. They need to take a step back, right themselves and then proceed.
 
So they started development on this late, they have no idea what their true philosophy for the console is, and they've been flatly confused the consumer, and they may be having issues with the ESRAM?
 
They don't need a roundtable. Microsoft promised to kill Sony and Nintendo, so there's nothing to talk about. Competition is dead. All hail King XBone!
 
Even if the Xbox One isn't a total disaster, Microsoft sure isn't helping to improve its image here. The reason for the roundtable cancellation doesn't matter. It will be perceived as insecurity about their product.

It's being perceived that way right now.
 
Aww man this makes missing the MS conference on Monday even more of a bummer. I want to see the boat go down in flames live and in HD motherfucka!
 
For months, GAF told me that Microsoft was completely confident in their product. It is becoming increasingly obvious that they have no idea what their fucking product is.
 
Before I could ever even consider buying an Xbox One in the future, I need a journalist or gaming blogger to ask a Microsoft executive upfront:

"Do you intend to run the Xbox One servers for as long as Microsoft is a company, or will purchased games no longer function once the servers are shut down years from now?"

I will NOT lease a game from Microsoft that should be my own property, and anyone who buys a game for the Xbox One has the right to know the answers to those questions.
