Sony E3 press conference; June 10th 6PM PT/9PM ET

So who wants to talk about how Sony could possibly mess this up?
Let's dampen the hype here and try to be realistic.
 
I'm expecting a price, and therefore will pre-order. The lack of a price for me will signal they're unsure about a worldwide release in 2013; unless they're gonna announce US price at E3, EU price at gamescom and JP price at TGS.

Those 30 minutes will be about killzone. Infamous. 2 exclusives one from square enix. 1 probably from capcom ?

We wont have much time for ofher things. So people shouldnt have high expectations. Unless its more than 1 hour presentation

They won't necessarily announce a price. I'm 99% sure they will show the box, but I suppose if Microsoft say $499, they could do a cheeky (we're going to be cheaper) remark. There is gamescom, and TGS, to carry on the momentum.

Having said that I think I'm the only person on gaf that thinks Sony will take a hit on every ps4, and sell the gimped basic version for $299. Unless of course the bom is lower than $299. So I'm like the least likely person to guess right at these things.
 
They are not going to announce a price, that is usually the last thing these companies announce. It is a strategic thing they need to calculate. Unless they have a very favorable price and announce 299 or 349, which we are hoping but...i very much doubt. It would only be slightly more expensive than a 6 year old PS3, makes no sense.

Why wouldn't they announce the price? Wasn't 5 9 9 dollars from an E3 conference? Also the box is definitely showing since the teaser they released a while ago pretty much said it was being shown off at the conference.

Pardon the expression, but if Sony blow their load, they will have nothing else but the launch week, to get the main stream press interested with.

But on the other hand, it is likely that you are correct, because they are going to get the world press there, so you get your message out to the widest audience in one slick move.
 
Why should Sony announce price if Microsoft doesn't? Unless they make it super cheap, there is no sense in doing so until they are sure they are competitive. It doesn't have to mean anything more than that.

Well, E3 is the place to reveal those sorts of things, isn't it? If not at their press conference, then when?

It's possible that's why they chose a slot in the evening to have their event, to map out a few things based on MS' showing, but who knows...
 
Said it in the MS TRUTHFACT thread but I don't think either will give a price, this shit will come down to the wire...as in mid to late summer. It's all about who blinks first and who will be able to undercut/soften the blow

I would be stunned if they announced the price for the PS4, even tough they did that for the Vita at E3.

Tough i suppose they can knock all 3 unknowns out with one swing:

Console design
Price
Launch date

As the console comes out of the ground with steam all around it

There are a lot of things I think they could mess up on:
- Too much time spent on ps3/vita/ps eye games.
- Wasting half their time babbling as they are prone to doing.
- Wasting time on multiplats.
- Too much time spent on games they already showed in February.
- Having TLG be their biggest announcement. I know a lot of people would loose their shit over this rereveal but my patience for this game ran out when it didn't show up at E3 2011 (the year it was supposed to release). If people say its good when it comes out I'll play it but I won't be getting hyped for it again.

I'm trying to temper my expectations but to be honest I'm not too concerned, I think it will be a great show. Was reading some of the post histories of the insiders who popped up in the truthfact thread and found a couple of nuggets I hadn't seen before which got me very excited for this event. No use trying to resist, the hype train has left the station and I'm clinging on for dear life.

IIRC, they regretted announcing a date when it wasn't even ready to be released... And honestly, I don't think production was too far along in 2009, so the development time sounds about right for a release this or next year. Any later is just much too late since the PS4 is gonna come rolling in.

I think Launch Date is a given. Xbone is being promoted with COD:Ghosts which releases on Nov 5, I think. And we have had PS3 is coming this year adverts already.

PS4 is coming October, November or December.

Kindles and tablet might still be the best sellers, but consoles have to be up there, at the right price.

Vita price cut has got to be coming. As well as official PS3 price cuts.
 
The only reason I could see Sony not announcing price at E3 is because House came from SCEE, and his vision might be to make Europe the focal point announcing price, release, etc at Gamescom.

Other than that unless they really think Microsoft can beat theit price I see no reason to not announce at E3. Gamestop, TRUS, and Targey wont take pre-orders before a price is given so it only hurts them to wait around if they are launching this year.
 
If they're confident on price they'll give us one, if not it'll likely be down to what MS does earlier in the day.

Same goes for a firm date, by that I mean for example November 10th rather than just November.

It's like one giant Mexican stand off. It's almost exciting.
 
I think there will be disappoints and happy meltdowns from each member since everyone is so different.

I just hope Sony has more people happy with their conference than angry ones. Thats really the end result that Sony and the other 2 should aim for imo. You can't please everyone, so please the gamers with games.

Some games will probably have more showtime than other games but unless its wonderbook/crap most gamers won't mind.
