I expect NST to be working on the next Metroid. They developed Metroid Prime Hunters, so they would be the next best developer for the job besides Retro or EAD.

I thought of this too, and would be fine with it. It also occurred to me that the former sonic designer/naughty dog guy that got hired at NST might be involved. Nobody seems to know what he was hired for or what he might be working on.

I would have thought that they would have confirmed a WiiU version on their Kickstarter already if that was the case.

Chances are it is a game we don't yet know about.

We know Headstrong Games is working on a Wii U project as well. Sakaguchi (Mistwalker) seems to be pretty hard at work on something judging from his FB page, although we might not see that yet if it is a Nintendo project.

Really, it's hard to say what they have up their sleeves since we don't know how many projects they've outsourced thus far.
