Man Of Steel - Nokia Trailer

Fair warning, one reviewer was mentioning not being sure about taking his 7 year old to see it. He said it's really brutal. I'm gonna see it first before I decide whether my 7 year old is up to it. But I know everyone has different limits and tolerances, just figured it was something you should be aware of.

I let my kid watch RoboCop at 4. I think he will be alright for this one.

Lol. Will someone just put up the OT already?

Don't let me have to do it. I'll put a picture of Superman and a link to the IMDB page and let it rock.

I was going to write something about my semen being her kryptonite, bringing her to her knees and as she begs for mercy I kneel down and kiss her gently on the nose, before hoisting her up by under her arms and carrying her to the fortress of solitude, laying her down and making my father watch as I explore her womb

But I thought it was a bit cliche

...go on

I didn't think I was ever gonna like another person playing Superman after Reeve, but I'm really warming up to Cavill.

I'm fucking shaking. I'm not even exaggerating. This movie is going to be immense. I've been hyped for this since 2010-11 I think it was when we heard about this movie being concrete. Fuck E3. It's all about June 14th...

Awesome trailer...this others have been good, but this one in particular really sold it for me. Definitely has that Nolan feel to it.

That's my kind of running time for a good movie.

This makes no sense.

Quality, not quantity, folks. Give me a lean, tight 100 minute film any day over a 180 minute bloatfest (which is what 99% of 2.5+ hour blockbusters are).

Running time 144 minutes

To make quality sometimes you need more tnan just mere 100 minutes.

There is absolutely 0 correlation between quality and length though. None. Yes, there are great long movies. But a movie isn't great just because its long. A movie should be no longer than it needs to be. If you can tell the story in 100 minutes, tell it in 100 minutes. If you need 150 minutes to do it right, then tell it in 150 minutes.

I Agree with you here I was just pointing that great movies could longer than 100 minutes, sure you can make a great 100 minute movie but if they have more to tell more to flesh out those more minutes really help to make it even greater.

Not when it comes to movies, nope.

I agree with your sentiment that a longer running time doesn't equate a better movie. I'm saying, if the movie is good (which most signs point to MoS being) then we want the experience to be as long as it takes to

a) keep us in that world

and

b) tell the story the makers want to tell.

More time spent is great if the execution warrants it.

I only brought it up because I see the same reaction at GAF every time a blockbuster is announced with a long running time. A chorus of "yes!" and "I love my movies long!" posts, and I can't help but scratch my head. Modern blockbusters in general need to be getting shorter, not longer. There is no reason in hell for Pirates of the Caribbean movies to be nearing in on 180 minutes, for example.

To add to your point, Transformers 3 had a 2 hour + run time and I wanted to walk out after 15 minutes.

It's on my list of worst movies. That and Episode 1-3 will never be seen by these eyes again, so long as I live.

That being said, I'm still happy MoS has a long runtime. :)

Well, he did say it was his idea of a good running time. Different strokes and all that stuff.

This trailer... good god :O :O :O

I only watched this latest trailer cause I can't see the movie right away due to a chronic illness (people on the forum who have been around a long time know I haven't been well for years and of course I get sick right before my dream movie comes out), not sure how I'm going to avoid spoilers. This post was meant for the last thread till I noticed it was locked.

Hoping this medication they gives me kicks in by late June/early July. This is torture for me :( First world problem in the scheme of things, but one of the worst I have had. Hopefully some huge Supes fans here can just give me their thoughts without spoiling the movie for me (even you KalBalboa :p). I'm done watching any more footage and won't be able to enter the official thread :(

Man...don't know about your illness man but whatever it is I hope you get well soon. Man of Steel thread won't be the same till you get there.

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.
Thanks Vyer. It's a chronic colon disease (IBD) that Ive had for half my life. It makes for going out in public and sitting and watching a movie impossible when it flares up.

I made my last post in the new MOS thread. It's gonna be hard to keep out of there ugh

I would normally agree with you were it any other genre, but Superhero films need to be 2 hours at least given the structure they follow.

That's not to say that the longer a superhero film is, the better it will be. Just that, this genre spends so much time on action sequences, that subsequently scenes devoted to character development and plot progression tend to be trimmed.

If a decent creative team is behind the film, then some extra run time would be used wisely. I think when people express joy at the fact that MoS has a decent run time, it's expected that the team behind it will properly flesh out the story and characters without compromising the action sequences.
