PlayStation World will be a tiered premium service. Most likely paywall will be there. Still unclear if the most basic functions aren't behind a pay wall, but MOST features will be.

Price of the system should be $429 low end-- $529 (larger hd + camera + better finishing?).

I'd prefer if it was $399 low end, $499 premium... those prices just sound better / are more attractive.

Day One regardless... but i think Sony would do well to say $399, as that would be insanely competitive.

This information is a bit old and NOTHING has changed. I know Bruce is on the case trying to figure things out as well, but I think there will be an online play paywall. The tiered plan I am hearing will be-

A. Basic online play / cross game chat / streaming. (30 a year)

B. All of A. + PS Plus discounts / games (60 a year)

C. Gaikai Streaming (100 dollars a year)

Numbers were guesses, and this info is from a week AFTER PS Meeting.

Eep, a possible 100 for Gaikai... But it probably includes tons of free games, doesn't it? Hm...

That's it. I'm out.

Screw you sony.

How do PS3 owners feels about this if the above is true?

Did you read anything?
DRM is not system level, and you don't have to pay for online.

I believe you're the one who actually needs to read. He just posted that you will.

I'm out :( Not happening for me. The worst thing would be Sony not exempting their own games from DRM.

I don't think it's real because I don't think they have Gaikai available yet. They wouldn't be able to introduce a price for that just yet.

WHAT THE HECK.

:(

All this stuff is sucking the fun out of E3.

DRM is real, but things can change. It's actually not Sony who wants to enable DRM. Sony will take the "let the third parties decide how to deal with it," approach. I don't know if Sony will exempt first party titles from it. I just want the bad news to get out of the way before you enjoy the press conference.

As for the conference itself, you will see some great stuff :).

Thank you.
To me the most important thing is to have a choice, so if Sony is not requiring DRM system wide i dont care, more i can boycott actively the pubs going for it.

Those aren't even the best shots of the CG, need one where it shows outside the window here. I swear that looks like real life for a second.

well that sounds like fucking garbage

the xbone turning out to be a pathetic shit sandwich doesn't excuse any of this

We'll see if they've officially changed anything then since the rumours are so old.

How about the price of $429? When did you obtain that info? If it was during february again, it might have changed again.

I want GAF to prepare for the worst, so I'm going to put this out here right now:

I know its been posted before, but it's mostly right. If you are ok with the price, everything else should make you happy.

I expected this. ~400$ price for basic console and most of the cool features put into new PS+. MP has to remain free.

going to be devastated if online play and netflix are behind a paywall

adding to the ps+ concept by expanding it to include sharing and gakai at a higher price is fine, but basic functionality has to stay the same.

430$ for entry price would be good, it makes no difference with 399$. It's only a matter of perception, but again, 30 dollars don't make any difference for me.
449$ would be a bit high for the current market. We need to know also the price of Xbone as well.

The premium model was a safe bet. I'm ok with paying for extra servicies like instant game collection, gaikai, cloud servicies and so on. If the online play remains free it's allright.
I think that a concrete new infrastructure will worth the money. Every extra is, well, an extra.
Just don't touch our currently free things (online play, messaging, browsing, friend list). I don't think that is unreasonable.

That option A will cost Sony more then make them money.

Online play behind a paywall? :CCCCCCC

Things CAN change, but I am just being open about what I've heard. Like I said NOTHING is concrete. NOTHING is 100%. This is just the words on the lips of the folks in the know a few months ago.

Yeah I know, thanks for the info. I won't completely judge until concrete info is out, but it's hard not to expect the worst.

Paid basic online play is such is an issue. :/ On the one hand, keeping it free will give the PS4 an (another?) advantage over the XBONE, but charging for it will net Sony a lot more revenue.

I really hope they don't do it. It's not on Vita, unless that will just work differently.

I'd be getting the PS+ tier anyway for the games, but people are totally not gonna be happy if they have to pay to play online :/

And I have ps+, but what if I decide to cut down on my outgoings per month for some reason? if this also means, I don't get access to multiplayer portions of games I have already bought, screw sony, I'm out.

*sigh* I was hoping wouldn't happen. Another annual expense. I suppose B is probably a good deal though.

Online behind a paywall, $100 Gaikai streaming and $529 US dollars.

That's the sound of momentum flushing away. Great stuff to wake up to thugway, thanks.

I wouldn't worry about basic online play, that'll be free. I do wonder just how many features we've heard about so far will be premium-only though, that could be a downer.

Indeed but with the money I'm going to save by cancelling LIVE and not buying an X1, I should be good to go.

Thanks for letting us now, I'll just wait for the official announcements.

Ugh, basic online behind the paywall? What's next, the internet browser and the netflix app too? What about sharing functions? So many questions, come on Sony...

Oh, nevermind, it's not official. Ok, oops, will wait.

I''l believe it when I see it. If Sony are really are going to start charging for normal services as Microsoft has done for ages, I am not buying a PS4. If they apply the same anti-consumer used game measures as Microsoft has, I am not buying a PS4. If the worst comes to pass at E3 then I have NO PROBLEM going out the very next day and buying a WiiU not just for spite, but for the pleasure of having a VIDEOGAME CONSOLE that I can just play games on and not worry about. I already plan on getting a 3DS XL anyway. Nintendo deserve to win if the other two big guys can't realize the position they are trying to force their customers into.

Well Sony has just lost me as a customer cause i not paying to play online .
I also know there was going to be DRM i just wonder if you can go more into detail .
My hype has now really die because of this Fuck Sony why would you do this .

I've an avatar bet with someone that this would happen. That Sony couldn't leave that kind of money lying around

WiiU + Pc forever.

Damn basic online must remain free..
It's also a way to tease a lot of customers in the premium services.
Stupid, stupid move if true.

this folks.

those numbers can't be accurate. most of the Gaikai stuff isn't even going to work at launch (they've said as much) so I don't see how they could possibly be looking at pricing options already.

I am still not sure. 30 bones is not that much if provided we are getting a better experience. But its the philosophy of paying to play online on top of my ISP is not something I am comfortable with yet.

But, surprisingly, I feel this is will be a selling to 360 owners who are disappointed with X1 so far. I know 360 owners who hate the ps3 experience because of online. Their reason, PSN is free and Sony does not give a crap.
