Xbone Defense Form - Select One or Multiple

[] You are getting too emotional, allowing me to ignore what you say
[] Gamers are getting entitled again
[] You're a fanboy/You just hate Microsoft
[] NeoGAF/Reddit/the hivemind is biased
[X] Doesn't matter, you'll change your mind and buy the console anyway
[X] Gamers just don't like change
[] Gamers are just mad because it's not about them
[] Opinions don't matter, only sales matter
[] Debating about games is meaningless anyway
[X] This is the future
[] It's the exact same thing as the PC market because of Steam, so you're a hypocrite
[] My perfect internet connection invalidates your imperfect internet connection

You know, it's got to be embarrassing when you're reviewing your shill work with the boss and you have to explain that your account finally got banned for getting caught in the anti-shilling thread.

Well, embarrassing for him. Delicious for us.

I can understand a corporation paying fake users to spead positivity on their platform but let's be frank here. If your guys can only defend your product by spouting the worst horseshite possible and are literally taken as shills instantly, as no one in their rind mind would accept your crap...I think it's time to review your console and policies. And ASAP.

Y'know... I think in my post history here I made some comments about corporate shilling on GAF and was seriously hammered by some posters about it. Now that it's all out in the open like this, I'm really surprised just how many people are so blase about it.

It makes me rethink every current games thread on this site and every other I frequent. It's like the only real topics are retro gaming now. Scary.

You forgot "compare it to Steam".

At what point does Microsoft realize they need help with positive reviews? How do they ask people to damage control?

"Our box sucks. Make it sound good!"

A lot of companies do this, but this past few weeks Microsoft's particular employees have had to work overtime so a lot of them are making themselves super obvious and being caught out.

I just want to get this straight (check reg date, I've been a user for a couple of months, just not an active poster on these forums), if you support anything that is slightly involved with, around, up or down near Microsoft's influence, you could very well be labeled a shill?

Yikes.

edit: Just to clarify, I joined the forums due to a FIFA 13 team member, just never posted. You can ask Awesome Animals, or others I played with.

That sort of shit should be punishable by law.
As it can have very serious repercussions on public opinion, it should be treated as a serious felony. It makes me sick, thinking that corporations can get away with doing that sort of scumbag shit.

..... something you wanna tell us friend?

Dude, just give up!

Thsee M$ apologists seem ready to ignore or even defend any outrageous actions of theirs.

IF M$ was going around using the XB1's features to steal people's online identities, these guys would be like "Well ....... you don't actually own your own information ....... so I don't see the problem here".

By the time they register here most of them will be banned anyways.

bUt Yeah, this type of stuff is eXactly what's wrong with Business, if yOu caN't trust thE consumer why bother making the product?

I don't know why, but reading this post makes me want to get Xboned...

Of course this isn't surprising. We knew this for a while now. This dates back to the MS Munchkins days against OS/2. Now there's just outside firms that handle the dirty work. I have to admit, I wonder how much these guys get paid to do this lol.

While disgusting there are many companies that do this so I don't see why people are shocked. It's just that there has been so much bad PR that the shills seem worse to people.

CBoat in this thread, excellent. :D

I don't get the people who try to downplay this practice. It's not transparent, it's deceiving and disgusting. But ironically, it's very counter productive once the gaffers are aware of it.

No.

If you read bish's post, its a combination of things. Vocal and insistence posting, email addresses, likely ip addresses as well etc.

This thing is really starting to bother me. I've always known there are some random shills promoting games etc but this Xbox mess is so much bigger. How can I take any positive Xbox comments seriously anymore? It's starting to feel like the whole defence force is paid. I need to shake this off.

Not necessarily, though depending on how you present yourself, people might begin to suspect as such.

Why kevinski was banned is not particularly clear but it's not solely because of his last comment. It may have to do with his registration email being linked to a marketing firm or something else the mods are aware of that we aren't.

For the enthusiasts out there who aren't paid shills but love [x] product, I think the moral of the story is that your words, behavior, and overall demeanor make a big impact on how you are perceived and that makes a huge impact on how your arguments are addressed and whether or not you are taken seriously. This something I wish more people at large would understand, that language, particularly on the internet, is a powerful thing. What you say and how you say it matters, regardless of whether or not companies are paying fake members to publicly love their products.

I don't care.

MS is a company with a lot of money and a lot of money to spend on advertisements. if they're not violating the reddit TOS... who cares?

You should make an application... you have been just as bad as the rest the last couple of days. Why not make some money out of it?

That kevinski guy also tried to bump the Sony used game patent thread from 4 months ago to deflect discussion.

I could swear I've read the "people are just afraid of change" line several times in the last couple of days.

Edit: oh ok, here we go, knew I wasn't insane.

Woah... look a that post, and it isn't death yet!

On other news, If I recall correctly, some folks at /v/ wanted to deal with this problem (yeah they have it too) by banning anyone that speaks well about the xbone. A little bit harsh, but considering everything, it may not be that crazy.

[x] All of the above

Wow, this whole situation is making me see GAF as some gaming version of They Live. I know there are shills on here after that one guy was caught doing it for SimCity (holy hell what a debacle), but this guy is saying there's entire TEAMS flooding forums and other big sites and rephrasing the company line.

I'm definitely of the opinion that that should be a bannable offense on most (if not all) boards, forums, etc... It's lying for fat cat suits.

You can't positively defend the Xbox One. You just can't. The console's existence stands against everything gamers desire in a free market. There is no real painting it in a positive light for gamers. So it stands out as PAINSTAKINGLY OBVIOUS that anyone really blasting positive light on the Xbone is more than they seem.

LOL!

This is genius.

Seriously! Its like every one of their arguments placed in one post!

Yup, it really is an indefensible position.

I want my games to function when I pop them in the console, whether I have online access or not. Whether it be next year or 10 years from now.

What these companies are doing will benefit them and screw us (and the medium) over.

I'm going to enjoy watching this entire marketing exercise backfire. Who the hell thought that hiring undercover commenters to insult your target audience would be a good idea?

No.

I would hate to live in.. is it Redmond? right about now. And be posting, that is. I hold the opinion of, as a disabled-ish gamer, I will most likely pick up an Xbone. The controller suits me well, I enjoy the IP's they have, the 24hr check in/no renting doesn't bother me and I'm looking forward to getting rid of disks.

I can see how people would absolutely hate these things from plenty of vantage points. In a thread I am participating in on another forum, it's pretty much only populated with PS4 and PC users so you really can't get a word in without being called a drooling retard, a shill, or any other interesting, derogatory terms. I guess a difference of opinions is something we are all losing as well.

(not trying to dispute the emergence of paid shills, it's like the cicada cycle.)

At this point I assume any junior member who says anything vaguely pro-xbone is working for microsoft.

Please do, also recommend all for banning.

That kevinski guy also tried to bump the Sony used game patent thread from 4 months ago to deflect discussion.

In all respects, why can this not be brought up.

[x] All of the above

If I was more bored than I am, I'd try to write an argument for all of them at once.

I have the distinct craving to watch They Live right now. Is it because I want to watch a movie about astroturfers and brainwashers, or because the astroturfers and brainwashers convinced me to watch it? Oh god!

lol...sega genesis.

HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS

LOL!

This is genius.

Seriously! Its like every one of their arguments placed in one post!

The problem I have isn't the defense of the Xbone. If you can defend it, go ahead. The problem is dismissing everybody else's concerns.

Not necessarily. People defended Friend Codes until the (sort of) end of FCs.

Its pretty crazy how many threads (today) have been bumped by Juniors with shady post histories that have negative Sony vibes in them.

E3 is going to be so CRAZY.
