That's the whole point of capitalism. That's what they exist to do.
I know there are companies that don't do shit like that, but generally when a company goes public, and you get rich fuckers from the city buying stock and demanding more money from the companies they hold stock in without giving a shit about what they do or who their customers are, they tend to start caring more about making money... because if they don't, no one wants their stock... and they die.
yep, you can be damn sure that all of the tech giants do this - Samsung, Sony, Microsoft, Apple, Google. There is too much at stake for them to do otherwise, and they're probably among us here on GAF as well.

Hopefully, the negative response to any company who engages or pays a marketer to engage in this type of marketing will exceed whatever gains they get. Perhaps this will be the case for established name brands.
For example, we now are highly suspicious of anyone at all positive about Microsoft. True fans, even people who still want an XBONE, are less likely to express this opinion for fear of being banned or being suspected as a plant by a marketer. In effect, overall LESS positive posts are made than would be the case if none of this shilling ever started.
Anyway, hopefully this is the case. Any time a company is found to take a step forward with this method of marketing, may the public's perception of them and their products take 2 steps back.
Some would argue they already are.

Well, they do have deep pockets. I'm just going to watch their conference for the laughs. I hope at some point they change their minds about the DRM and blocking used games, but I doubt it.

I'm sure there are a few, but they can only afford to do that so many times with the email restrictions and it takes an awful lot of work. GAF doesn't give lenience based on tenure either, so registration date won't help them

One can be positive for Microsoft without having to contort themselves or offer up insane justifications... I just haven't seen it done yet ;P
I mean, OK, not having to deal with disks is a positive in my book. Same with background patching and updates. Day one digital downloads? Also good. Forza 5 at launch? Great. Controller improvements? Good. Attempting to come up with a system that allows for trading and selling digital property? Good... in theory.
But then you look at the costs, and holy shit, it all goes up in smoke. For every minor good there are a few horribads to sink any and all optimism or sense of Microsoft acting in good faith, and we still don't even know the full picture yet.
The best I've seen is "Well none of that affects me", which is hardly a positive endorsement.

Dosnt 4chan claim that Neogaf is completely run by Sony employees? Like I remember reading some article not long ago how they claimed that soon as the PS4 was revealed hundreds of people had Kaz added to their images and there was tons of gifs that seem to have been made long before the show. Then later you get people with the only on xbox jokes.
I do kinda wonder about those Kaz gifs.. who the hell would spend so much time on that?

all my point is re: witch hunt is that it's not about whether witches exist, it's about the (usual) collateral damage of people who aren't "witches" getting caught in the net because they have certain views.
