After some research I placed an order for TLoS at Amazon UK - cost me 52€ including taxes/shipping to Austria compared to 60-70€ stores here demand. Does anyone know if Amazon UK will ship the game before friday?

Based on my history with Amazon.co.uk, they ship the game on the evening (and into the night) of Thursday.

I'm in Germany, it then it reaches me on Saturday.

Same for the Netherlands. If you use free shipping, Friday releases get sent out on Thursday and arrive on Saturday.

Hopefully TLoU will not be an exception next week ;)

You guys get your items on Saturdays? The mail people in your country work on weekends? Incredible.
Was thinking the same thing. When they ship on Thursday, I'm happy when I receive mine on Wednesday in Belgium.
Then again, regular mail service truly sucks here. :(

I have never, in ten years of using them, not had a game from Amazon on release day (or before). Some of the best service in the business.
Love Amazon as well, but I have never received a preorder game anywhere close to launch.
That's why I'm going with shop to for games I really want on day 1.
in most cases I get it the day before. :)

Are you guys sure shopto will ship TLoU before friday? When do you think I'll be able to get the game here in Italy if I preorder from them? Never bought anything from them.

I'm still unsure whether I should go with amazon or shopto. It's a 5€ difference but I'd be willing to pay it if it means getting the game almost a week earlier.

It certainly is your best bet when ordering from the UK and having the game be delivered to mainland Europe.
Normally they ship on Tuesday, or Wednesday morning from my experience and you should have it Thursday or Friday.
Just ordered my copy from them about 10 minutes ago actually. :)

No post on saturday/sunday in Austria either (except in a few cities during christmas). I will be more than content if TLoU arrives early the week after release. I saved at least 8€ and I am sure that the game has english voices ... not like my disaster with Skyrim.

Do you guys reckon the PlayStation 3 will get slashed in price following E3? My PS3 of five years is acting up and I fear that I'll soon need a replacement. Otherwise, what would you recommend to somebody who doesn't particularly care what model they get (as long as it has decent memory)?

How often have you pre-ordered with Shopto?

I have around 6 games I've pre-ordered from Amazon and they all turned up on Saturday so I feel safe with them at the moment.
But if I can get the game even earlier and already play it Friday evening that would be better.

I just looked up my own shipping times with Shopto and they average to 6 days from shipping until I received them. (4 orders)

I never tried Shopto - is there a difference in delievery speed between First Class (I assume that is the regular UK postal service) with/without tracking or are the ~3GBP you pay more really for the tracking number only?

Tempted to try my luck there ... it would be even cheaper than Amazon UK (assuming there are no other charges than the 3GBP for delievery) and it seems the chance is better that I get the game earlier.

Right now I have 43 completed orders with them and 5 games preordered.
Had one game go missing and only a couple of times had the game arrive the Monday after the release date.
So it certainly isn't a 100% sure thing. But as I mentioned before, I feel the most secure ordering day one items from them knowing that most likely, I'll have the game by Friday. (UK to Belgium)

Haven't noticed any difference in going with the £3 or the £7 option, so I would recommend the £3 pound one. Seems to me the extra amount is simply for tracking.

Amazon is a bit cheaper though at £38 with free shipping option for most countries, unless your country has a special Amazon site, while Shopto is at £39.85 + £3 shipping.

Again, can't promise you'll have your game by Friday, but there's a very good chance you will. While in my experience, Amazon will ship on Thursday and the game will arrive next Tuesday at the very earliest. Most likely even later.

Eh...doesn't it depend where you live and what shipping courier Amazon will use?
You live in Belgium, what courier do they use for letterbox and big packages?

Though I can vouch for the fact that Amazon only ships pre-order items a day before release, so yeah, for TLOU, they will ship it on Thursday. Which is late, should've been at least 2 days before release date.

Shopto sent out an email yesterday saying they're going to finalise orders by the end of this week due to incredibly high demand of the last of us since they're going to ship during tuesday.

I'd suggest you move quick if you want a copy, there's no doubt they ship early.

All I'm wondering if I should pay the extra 5 for courier so I can get it a day early or just use basic free domestic shipping which should arrive by friday.

As a former mailman from Holland, I'll try to explain the delivery on saturdays and mondays situation. Packages and mail ordered on fridays get delivered saturdays. But because companies (and post offices) are closed on weekends, very little mail and packages get sent in the weekend, which means there's very little mail to deliver on mondays. But if you actually put a stamp on something and drop it in a mailbox before sunday 18.00, it will get delivered on mondays. But 95% of the mail and packages these days don't have old-fashioned stamps anymore. That's why people think mailman don't deliver on mondays. When in fact, they do. There's just not much to deliver.

Edit: it's not EU law mandating a 6 day delivery week, it's something postnl had to sign off to when they went private a couple of years ago. That's why the Dutch government has to okay it first.

Just wanted to thank the person that posted the limited edition SFxT deal on thegamecollection (couldn't find the post to quote it). I didn't know of the website, game came in five days (in France) and that was a cool offer so thanks.

i wants a controller to use on my new, gorgeous pc when I don't want to use a k&m control scheme.

This would be the one to go for?

Yep. Any wired 360 controller will do. Grab whatever is cheapest and plug it in! Windows 7 will know what it is and most games will dynamically map the buttons depending on how old the game is.

That's odd: "Where do we ship? We ship worldwide apart from the Benelux region (The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg) any orders from here will be cancelled and refunded."

Why would they happily ship games to all the ends of the earth but not deliver to the Netherlands and Belgium?

they're deathly scared of the netherbeast.
