Sony E3 press conference (PART 2); June 10th 6PM PT/9PM ET

1) Single or multiple SKUs? Multiple
2) User replaceable non proprietary HDD? Yes
3) Camera included in all SKUs? No
4) USB port on the front? Yes
5) DS4 D-Pad changed to match the Vita? No
6) Top load or slot load disk drive? Slot
7) Integrated PSU? Yes
8) Blue LED somewhere on the console? Yes

9) Internal 8GB-16GB 500MB/sec flash SSD for the purposes of fast OS bootup, reduced power networked standby for downloading in standby mode (SSD's can operate at different power levels with different bandwidth performance), with some portions useable for games data streaming.


Oh, btw, I have no proof, couldn't find any archived footage with the same quality, but Sony PS4 reveal was streamed at 60fps if you had the bandwidth, on the official channel (not on anything else). No game stream was 60fps but the stage talks were 60fps. I'm hoping the same for this E3 stream, with games also being streamed as smooth.
 
There is a realistic chance that the PS4 does have some form of anti used games DRM thinga-ma-jingy, weither its left up to publishers (big chance) or something

But they wont have the 24 hour always online, they have outright said so which Amirox made a topic compiling all the links and quotes

So really at worst, there might be some form of anti used games policy and chances of TLG being shown are roughly 50/50, they could just as well save that one for TGS since unlike Microsoft, Japan does matter to Sony.

But you can pretty much be 100% sure they will not do always online of any kind and that Versus/FF 15 will be shown/announced since Square pretty much said so.

If we go in with those expectations then i think we will be fine

I thought their stance was "we will leave it up to the publishers" just like it was with PS3?

Whatever the case is, it's probably not as bad as Microsoft's actual policies atm.

Sorry but regardless of what they've said, I don't think anyone should assume anything at this point until confirmed, like, in writing. Kind of like when Yoshida danced around the question about DRM a bit and everyone was like whoo hoo, confirmed!

Yep, I think it's pretty much confirmed if they don't mention it during the conference. And by that I mean they're not going to mention it tomorrow, sadly.

A price cut and a new marketing push would do wonders for the Vita, look at how the 3DS has recovered. If Sony is willing to make an actual effort to save this thing, I don't think it's time wasted.

They absolutely did not dance around the always online requirement, they outright denied it, several of them in several interviews.

You are right that Yoshida did dance around the DRM issue, which is why i said there is a chance they are doing something.

I'm just making the choice to not be naive about it. Not saying everyone is, but interviews to me don't mean shit. Everyone at Sony could flat out deny it at some point and something could change.

I've decided that stance isn't good enough for me. If Sony has designed their platform to enable publishers to control your property like Microsoft has, but says 'we're not requiring it and it is the publishers' choice' then that will end up de facto DRM just like Xbone. That is not acceptable to me. Sony, as the platform holder, has the power and the right to decide that such DRM is not acceptable from their licensees.

The other hurdle is the memory card prices. They really should have either done microSD or made the memory really cheap. I get that they're trying to prevent piracy but holy crap, is it really that good of an idea if there aren't that many people with Vitas because of the crazy memory situation? (I own one but I haven't been able to play it in a while UGHHHHH I WANT TORO'S FRIEND NETWORK)

For me personally, I just want more Vita games (everything is effing 3DS-only recently) and lower memory card prices. Oh, and they need to patch out the 'formatting' for using another account on the Vita too >|.

There's so little announced software. It's just not coming back. Look at how the 3ds is doing and that's with no western support. It's just not a device with a market.

I HATE this reality but it's true. Sony should just focus on PS4. It is more important to them.
 
Can't Wait. Remember reading when we had many months to go and here it is on the Eve of the event. PS4 Release date and price please.

On the other hand, Sony needs games and it's not in a healthy financial position to risk losing the support of 3rd party publishers.

What I've read is that there'll be a huge Vita presence at E3 this year. :/ We'll see in a few days. I don't think they'll let the Vita die that easily tbh. (though some would argue it's already dead)

Again, people keep thinking Sony has no money.

Third parties won't risk alienating a console that could sell itself on first-party titles alone.

If it ends up being the same as Microsoft's, and it does need to make an internet connection, even once, then I'll end up being more pissed at Sony. I hate being straight out lied to.

Honestly, the thing is dead. It would be throwing good dollars after bad. Sony should just let it die peacefully and unnoticed like they did for the PSP Go.

Too bad, it's a great piece of hardware, just one that the gamers don't want.
