Because shooters are the biggest genre going at the moment. Seriously, why is that hard for people to understand? Why can't people just deal with a genre they don't like being more popular than genres they do like adults rather than this self-obsessed baby act.

And I don't even like shooters.

I think it's because a series of gameplay videos of first person shooters kind of wastes time at a conference and doesn't build confidence of variety for a console's potential lineup.

This kind of event is the ideal time to show more than an endless cavalcade of shootbang.

But for nostalgias sake, I think it'll draw as many parallels to PS2 as possible. Cash in on the success they had with that. (As they are doing with their whole PS3, Play-stay-shun etc)

I have heard the same response. Their attitude however is closer to the days when they launched their first PS. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if it's an combination of both PS1 and PS2 forms into some larger mutation (the box will be as big as PS3 if not slightly bigger).

Shooters demo on stage better than other genres. RPGs and racing games are sleep inducing no matter how great they may be. Besides, given the fact that KZSF is getting shown on GT earlier in the day I think Destiny will be the only live demo of a shooter on stage.

Not even close. Maybe timed exclusive DLC. Sony will retaliate and chuck third parties off their other major platform (PS3) if heavy favouritism is shown.

Sony are the platform holder, they hold the cards in this game, especially since they have been so strong out of the gate. If they price at the rumoured $399 third parties would be insane to show any kind of favouritism towards Xbone tbh. Better to bet on the platform that has the highest chance of success, regardless of the DRM policy.

First off, the gates wont open until this fall. Second, publishers hold the cards. If EA and Activision decide to reward MS with a 30 day exclusive (for all their DRM crap), what's Sony going to say? The need those games on their platform. As for insanity, look how third parties shunned the wii this gen.

Anyways, I do hope I'm wrong... but I'd rather be right if it meant I'd be getting a DRM free console from Sony.
