Is it just me or is CBOAT A LOT more active than he's ever been? I guess I haven't been around for the last generation transition though.

A mod once banned CBOAT

Weird mods don't know given he is probably the single most valuable poster in the last year.

Edit: Beaten/IDK

There are a number of reasons why it couldn't have been Bish.

Edit: Ah, you edited.

Guys, I have confirmed the identity of CBOAT.

lolll

I'm having a hard time fathoming this.

I originally thought Gold would be required to use the console but the family plan text in the latest released PR seems to contradict that.

So, how could it be worse? No rentals is a separate point, and we already know pubs can just decline the ability to trade or gift. So...?

I think it'll be something to do with the camera...

Great stuff, again. Glad to see CBOAT entering radio silence for a while, though... Don't want him/her to be any more at risk. Right now PRISM's probably melting down trying to parse this :P

The fact that it was MS, NOT 3rd parties, that was pushing this DRM path to hell we're on makes MS look much, much worse in my eyes. It also means I have new hope Sony won't follow suit since it was not pressure from 3rd parties that started this renewed push for DRM

Yeah. A console manufacturer, not publisher, trying to screw over its customers. Does put it in a different light....

interesting.

when it's all said and done... if sony comes out with a DRM strategy similar to microsoft's...will people deal with it? or will people not buy a console all together and kill off the industry? or maybe people will jump into Nintendo's arms.

overall... next gen looks to be complete ass

and i say this because aside from graphics... gameplay doesn't seem to be leaps and bounds better... and to throw that behind paywalls w/ assraping DRM

i guess gaming as we know it could very well be over.

I'm assuming CBOAT has a track record or something? This stuff is definitely legit or we're just gonna find out tomorrow?

Microsoft's press release about their online and used games policies seem to correlate with what CBOAT is saying about Microsoft not really having a plan, and intending to just brush it under the rug.

Microsoft said:
In our role as a game publisher, Microsoft Studios will enable you to give your games to friends or trade in your Xbox One games at participating retailers. Third party publishers may opt in or out of supporting game resale and may set up business terms or transfer fees with retailers. Microsoft does not receive any compensation as part of this. In addition, third party publishers can enable you to give games to friends. Loaning or renting games won’t be available at launch, but we are exploring the possibilities with our partners.

...Just what the hell kind of DRM scheme is coming that is actually worse than what's been revealed so far?

The discs are made of a material that starts to slowly deteriorate after first human touch. The game becomes unplayable within about a year because why not, you are just leasing the data on the disc anyways.

I really really really really really hope that Dead Rising 3 won't be an Xbone exclusive.
I can live with it being a timed exclusive, but I need that game on my PC or at least PS4. :(

Cboat possibly being Don Mattrick?

Don is an inside Sony man along with Phil? Damn Kaz is putting in overtime infiltrating companies

I'm not surprised that Activision is the least supportive of the DRM Big 3.

Also we should all be vigilant for his No mentioning PS4 version warning.

They make so much money off CoD and DLC that I'm not surprised either. EA and Ubisoft should actually try making quality products. Maybe then they wouldn't have to cling to the idea that used games are screwing them over.

Reads like their "potential scenarios" talk doesn't it?

Or cboat's sources are in the Microsoft pipeline. They wouldn't know much about Sony.
I know most of his sources seem to be on the MS side, but he did mention he was trying to get info from Sony regardless. Taking into account his and everyone's else's efforts to get info about Sony's plans, amazing how limited the results have been.

What's the point in cboat typing like a drunk so that his posts aren't picked up when someone else just makes threads about his revelations using perfectly-typed English? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

It's also to prevent him from sounding like himself or any other insider.

Wii U ?

Man it seem like cloud is always about DRM.

DING DING DING a winnar is you!

Cloud is only about DRM - that's how it's marketed to executives. It has Nothing to do with the ability to use hundreds of cores at once... The exception being for running hundreds of complex simulations at once... And that's mainly for academic use.

Cloud saves? More like ensuring saves files aren't being modified to unlock things. Gaikei? Prevent piracy of older games. Don't you find it coincidental that a certain sites known for having huge collections of classic games was taken down recently?

Cloud computing has always been about preventing piracy - always will. Everything else is a bonus in the eyes of executives.

CBOAT had confirmed earlier that MSFT's plans were always for an always online box and that the confusion/24hr check-in in a result of moving slightly away from that. Maybe it's not 24hr. Maybe it's worse.

I'm assuming CBOAT has a track record or something? This stuff is definitely legit or we're just gonna find out tomorrow?

I think the number of times duder has been wrong can be counted on wrong hand, and I can only think of one (Remember Me being revealed at E3 when it was still PS3 exclusive, and the only reason it was wrong was because they changed all that up)

Not counting the other stuff said that's unconfirmed, though (like next Halo supporting Oculus Rift)

CBOAT's posts are so awesome to read.

Happy about PS4 online being free. I believed Kagari, but it's good to hear it repeated.

DRM can die in a fire. I wish Sony wasn't so tight lipped about it. Hopefully, they will put it to rest tomorrow.

So yesterday, CTV hosted a story where they said Microsoft and the U.S. government have been collaborating for years on gathering intelligence from the population. Cyber Surveillance, if you will.

Now Microsoft is releasing a gaming console called the 'Xbox One' that always has to be online to allow you to play single player games. Also, a camera in the Kinnect 2.0 has to be connected to the system, if you remove it, the system locks. The Xbox One OS system is going to use 3GB of ram for the OS system. Therefore, you have to ask yourself what the system intends to do while you are gaming... A creepy, pervasive spy in the cyberworld. Also, you cannot lend your games to friends, as the system is locked to online drm. Goodbye EB games.

Who knows what that OS system of yours is doing.

Time to get a PS4. :D

Something, something, PRISM.

That kinnect 2.0 always on is watching you.
