PC+PS4 or PC only?

This is why I'll be tuned in to e3 and GAF this week.

Well, that and the fact that I'm always tuned into GAF because its the best.

There's a lot to love in that OP, but dear me the double whammy of "tighter than a virgin mosquito" and "your bitter tears are my bidet" set me off heartily! Thanks CBoaT.

Can't wait. Gonna call in sick to work tomorrow, the MS conference is at 230am and Sony at 11am - both nuisance times to be a productive citizen around.

Quick question: What is with the way he posts? Can he not just type it up normally instead of this l33t speak?

It's like I'm reading a 15 year old girls facebook wall.

no rentals, expected that.

I've always assumed "the cloud" was for DRM purposes. If this DRM thing was a Microsoft thing and not a publisher thing that gives me hope for Sony.

my god, how can it be worse than we already know? It's already terrible enough.

I'm having a hard time fathoming this.

I originally thought Gold would be required to use the console but the family plan text in the latest released PR seems to contradict that.

So, how could it be worse? No rentals is a separate point, and we already know pubs can just decline the ability to trade or gift. So...?

"i'm sorry, an unidentified person has entered the room, please create an account to continue"

Doesn't help when we translate CBOAT's posts, though. Type "tears as my bidet" into Google and this thread appears as the ninth link.

No, but it helps confuse automated searches. Obviously a real person would be able to link it back but not necessarily an automated one.

They make so much money off CoD and DLC that I'm not surprised either.
Don't forget all the CoD merchandise like shirts and whatever bring in the money. Pretty sure whatever is "lost" in used games is change compared to all the revenue coming from CoD everything.

Paying for timed exclusives is nothing new, but it sucks extra hard in these cases cause the Xbox One sucks extra hard.

It's not even a timed exclusive, they would just be paying money for not mentioning it's not an exclusive at a conference. A timed exclusive would mean the game wouldn't be released on both systems at the same time.

Less likely to be picked by journalists, and less likely to be caught leaking info. You can tell who someone is based on their writing style

can someone point me to the page in this thread where every point in the OP is translated?

Oh my god.

  • What if Silver members for Xbox One don't even get 24 hours for authentication, instead you have to be online at all times just to launch the game after installing it.
  • You have to digitally re-install the game after a month for up to date authentication
  • If a game isn't updated, you can't play it, period.
  • You have to be a gold member to buy DLC.
  • Silver members have up to a month for keeping saves, must be a gold member to keep saves for a longer period. All save games are required to be placed on the cloud, Silver members get less space or slots in the cloud.

Just rattling off ideas on how the DRM situation could get even worse.

It's probably to hide his identity by obfuscating his real writing style.

Revealing something like this would be an easy way to lose one's job.

---

I would like someone to tell me with a straight face that the past few months culminating in this week has NOT been the most intriguing time for this industry in... probably decades.

I have suggested a way around the game selling/lending limits is to make a new account for each game, and sell/trade the account along with the game.

Worse DRM would be the mandatory Kinect spy cam taking pics/video/biometrics of you and tying it to the account for ID purposes so you can't trade accounts.

How are we in a position that this scenario actually doesn't sound terribly far fetched?

Unrelated sidenote: I now want to use "crazy buttocks on a train" as an exclamation in my daily life. "Crazy buttocks on a train, did you guys see that?"

Sony did the same thing with Assassin's Creed last time around, and people have already brought up Diablo 3 as an example too. It sucks, but it's hardly shocking.
It's such a pointless waste of money, whoever does it. Paying to try and keep people less informed is yuck. And they'll find out anyway.

CBOAT's posts are so awesome to read.

Happy about PS4 online being free. I believed Kagari, but it's good to hear it repeated.

DRM can die in a fire. I wish Sony wasn't so tight lipped about it. Hopefully, they will put it to rest tomorrow.

They don't need to, not with ms doing what its doing. Although it is kinda worrying.

Those are certainly ways to make DRM worse.

I know CBOAT is as truthfact as can be, but I can't comprehend how MS's DRM can get worse than what has already been mentioned.

I just can't.

Methinks you're onto something here. There's absolutely no way a free member would get all the same "benefits" or "features" as the subbed member. And MS is definitely the kind of company to do stuff like you've suggested.

I mean, just look at their current setup. Silver Members still have to wait a whole week for demos to be available for them...

So...what's to keep Sony from simply stating at their conference that the suppressed games are coming to PS4?

No, but it helps confuse automated searches. Obviously a real person would be able to link it back but not necessarily an automated one.

I can't imagine Microsoft would be lazy enough to rely solely on an automated search.

Well, alright, maybe I can.

I think they'd put serious manpower to tracking CBOAT down if he ever dropped a huge megaton, though. The fact that his leaks are somewhat benign is what keeps him in business.
