Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

Ugh God why. Another stupid travel game. I'm not bringing my Vita anywhere.

Looks fun at least..

that sucks, neither am i. but it looked shallow in the first place. the art looks good but that's about it. there are a bunch of tcg/ccg games coming out on tablets soon anyway so it's not like there will be a deficit of pvp strategy games for me to play

I'm assuming this thread is now full of doom and gloom as Tretton mentioned Vita about 6 times but announced no new games, merely mentioning Tearaway and Killzone: Mercenary?

I just don't see it. You can get indie games on mobile for a hell of a lot cheaper.

The Vita is hardly like mobile devices, for better and worse. You could also apply that argument to Steam vs PS3/PS4 - the comparison doesn't work, they're very different platforms.

So, from what I can gleam so far, all of the Shahid talks were just bollocks then?

That's really disappointing, but I should have known better than to anchor my hope to sales-talk of a person turn out nothing more than an overly excited salesman.

.....

Damn, sorry if I sound so rude here. I am just terribly and utterly disappointed about Vita's situation right now.

While I would have loved to have seen more for Vita at the conference itself, I know the real meat of what I wanna hear for Vita will come from the show floor/GamesCon/TGS. The announcement of a new bundle was OK, especially if it's well priced.

I have to admit, it is kind'a cool to see their commitment to Gaikai streaming ideas, though. While I wouldn't want the system primarily for it, being able to backwards compat basically anything you own on PSN directly to the Vita could be very cool.

On twitter, Shahid seems to be indicating that there's more to come. I'm assuming he means the show floor.
Dead Nation and GoW Vita aren't all that bad imo. I just wish there was more announced during the conference.

I just wanted cheaper memory card prices.

I wonder what the impetus for the $50 gift card by amazon before E3 then. I really thought it was a sign there would be a price drop.

The PC/Steam definitely competes with consoles, and the Vita definitely is competing with mobile.

I really just don't think people are going to want to buy a Vita for mobile quality games that cost $10-15, while mobile platforms have a much vaster selection priced for far less.

The way the Vita can compete with with more games like Killzone. Trying to cater to the low end just won't work, because they can't compete in quantity or price.

If they had anything better than that they would have mentioned it.

And c'mon, the PSP got two original PS2 quality God of War games. Vita owners shouldn't be excited over ports of PS2 games in HD.

As has been demonstrated consistently since launch, Sony of America couldn't care less about the Vita. Ask again at Gamescom.

SCEE doesn't care either.

The Vita will become a Japan-only console by 2014. PS4 integration won't save it. It's only a matter of time before one major retailer decides to take it off the shelves because it doesn't sell, then within a month all others will follow.

I'm watching the conference.... It's clear that tretton was forced to say something on vita but he didn't want to....
I mean, there's killzone, there's tearaway, show some gameplay! No...

Sorry vita but the doom & gloom is totally justified, scea clearly hate vita, maybe scee & scej care a little more, but the most important gaming event and the western(american) support is scea domain.

Hey sony guess who asked for gow1&2, dead nation, flower etc ports? No one!
It was so difficult to make gow, dead nation etc spinoffs? Why do you keep wasting money in many games no one wanted? Just spend the same money for one or two games that people really want!

>:(

Also lol at jeremy :D Must be a hardcore vitabro. I can feel the sadness dripping trough his tweet.

so news are:

Gow collection
Dead Nation
Walking Dead bundle
Mention of future support for gaikai on vita

Don't know about the first 3 but Gaikai could be pretty cool.

For sure is now clear we are not going to get anything good vita related from SCEA
Our best bets are still with SCEJ and SCEE

Gow collection - finally :)
Dead Nation - i hope it's YOPO since i got it for free after PSN was down.
Walking dead - don't care
Gaikai on Vita - expected but still might be godlike :)

Finally? Really?
Those games can be played on ps2, ps3 and even on vita with remote play, who really needs a vita version?

Contrast is new. And pretty interesting.

Velocity and Floating Cloud God are out (and I might add, are ports of Minis. Two of the better ones, but still)

Hey, I only have a Vita and a PC so I'm in the (small?) target market.

(Then again, I bought GoW Ghost of Sparta and didn't like it so I'm not that interested either.)

Runner 2 looks great on Vita (I assume that's running on Vita since it's not quite as crystal clear IQ-wise as PS3). AMAZING GAME.

Not sure how you can say they hate the Vita. They put hardware into the PS4 specifically so that you can remotely play EVERY PS4 game (the ones that don't require the Eye Camera). Doesn't seem like they would have bothered putting in hardware to do that if the Vita was on its deathbed. At a minimum the Vita becomes a Wii-U controller in your house, while being able to play a wealth of free Vita games from PS+ on the go.

Just the price needs to come down. I got mine used for $120 with mem card, but would definitely not pay upwards of $300 for it.

That's the problem, why wasting money on a game that aim for a little market when vita needs more compelling games?
Gow 1 was even free on ps+!

Wake up this morning to find basically nothing lol. I don't know why I'm at all surprised. Walking dead... good but expected. And that's basically it.

Hopefully they will have some good stuff on the show floor. I don't care if they do that and have some decent stuff because I can understand why there live show was focused heavily on PS4.

I wont keep my hopes up to high though.

Its great that the remote play exists and I was initially very hyped about it but im far from convinced yet it will be lag free. I will completely depend on your wifi net work no doubt.

I think Vita's dead :(

If you're gonna give some air time to it for X games and thats what they announce I can't seriously expect something better is in the pipe line when E3 is the biggest showing of the year. Its not like announcing a great game is gonna take focus away from the PS4.

It says everything that Sony's big holiday bundle is a port of a point and click adventure game playable on pretty much every platform out there. Sony was right when they said their treatment of Vita would be different than PSP's, this is somehow worse.

Talk is cheap. Until proven otherwise Shahid and Shuhei (Remember he was saying last year that it was a mistake that happened due to the PR team in charge of the event or something iirc) are full of it

You can spin it all you want...you can definitely find a few minutes of your conference to at least show a teaser of a game. This was just fucking pathetic. I made a mistake buying this system. Sony doesn't seem to care and vita has become an after thought. All Shahid is doing on twitter in response to vita fans asking the question 'why' is saying but they are there, for reals. Nothing more than PR at this point. You ask for trust, you ask for patience yet you do not deliver. System has become a joke in the eyes of the media with people calling it dead, who cares, forget about it etc without a hesitation. Why wouldn't they? Sony seems to agree. How much did fans and media slam them for their treatment of the system last year? This year they manged to make it even worse somehow. Last year we at least had AC Liberations.

Sorry for going Toto over this. I'm genuinely annoyed about this whole situation. yay for TWD and a port of gow HD. And yay for seeing tearaway and KZ Merc for the 100th time too.

ps; I really have an urge to sell this fucking thing now. But it doesn't make sense from a logical point of view.

As someone who thinks the PS4 lineup is merely OK so far and doesn't plan to buy one until its second year (or later), tonight was a total miss for me.

Right after last year's conference, asked about the relative dearth of any Vita presence, Shuhei apologized and promised that Sony would not relegate Vita to afterthought status during future E3 press conferences, noting the importance of having a presence beyond the show floor. Yet that's exactly what Sony did. If not E3, when? You won't find a larger audience, whether consumers or press, to convince of the merits of your product.

At this point, price drop or no, I'd be surprised if I could purchase a Vita at retail anywhere except dedicated gaming stores like Gamestop. Waiting until Gamescom (or whenever) is suicidal - retailers need assurance now that it makes sense to keep making hardware and software orders from the respective manufacturers, and the only thing tonight will assure is a series of PR disaster firesales for a system not even two years into its life.

I do most of my gaming away from home, in areas with unreliable Wi-Fi. I don't care about Remote Play, certainly not as the marquee feature that renders Vita the "ultimate companion device for PS4" (as strong a denouncement of Vita's strength as its own platform as I've heard, and from Tretton no less). I don't care about ports of indie games that cost $3 on Steam. I don't care about shoestring budgeted, C-tier spin-offs of tired PS3 franchises (though even a lazy but original GoW effort would've been better than another HD Collection offering...)

As a side note, I'm amused that people are once again pre-ordering a console based on faith in S-E's efforts. Yet think about how many people must've bought PS3 for Versus and the hope of a new Kingdom Hearts, which seemed like a given back in 2005/2006 before DS/PSP suddenly became the series' new home. I ask myself who would be foolish enough to pin their hopes on this hopeless company yet again, but then I realized that I'm doing the same thing with Sony by expecting them to learn from any of its mistakes regarding Vita.

It's sad, but Apple was the only one of the three today who really delivered a compelling product and lived up in any measure to the challenges it faced in re-establishing goodwill among a skeptical fanbase.

And tellingly:

From WWDC Platforms Kickoff, Crytek demonstrates an unannounced iPhone game running with a game controller.

So maybe I won't have to care anymore. Peace and love, Vita-GAF.

I'm done.

PR like this irks me like crazy. New Flash..you guys have ALREADY LET THE SYSTEM AND THE FANS DOWN! Wake the hell up

who am I kidding...they will say the same shit next year

At this point XSeed and Marvelous SQL are carrying the system. What a sorry state of affairs this has become

Well if things like that iphone controller and the MOGA controllers take off it could be game over for handhelds anyway. I nothing else arrives il prob pick up a MOGA to use on my nexus 7 and nexus 4 (when I switch to it at the end of the year).

Shame as Vita had so much promise. Still if things like Deus Ex The fall are anything to go by it might be a sign of things to come.

For once in my life, being a fan of indie games and niche Japanese titles is coming to fruition.

Was super disappointed though. I hope this is a situation like Fire Emblem was last year (where Nintendo didn't reveal it was being released until somebody asked Reggie).

Sony at his heart is japanese and probably the hardware division too, this would explain the attention to vita, but scea, the division that deals with the big and important american region, the e3 and the american developers, is american and could not care less about vita.
What remains?
Scej? We saw destiny of spirits... Japan has lots good third party developers, but some of them are not interested in vita, many games are not localized and japan is not a big market anyway.
Scee seems to care a little and europe is a big market, but what big third party developers that care about vita do europe have? Ubisoft and what?
Sorry but it's not a good situation if not all the sony divisions care about vita.
I didn't buy a vita for playing mostly indie games(that i love), bad and late ports, or as an accessory for the ps4.

Depends what they show on the show floor really. Might pull it back. Will that be today we find out?

I love vita, but with pain i say to you to be realistic, do you really think that if there was a big exclusive on the floor it would have not been mentioned in the conference? Gow collection, dead nation and walking dead ports are the next "big" deals.
Let's say that there will be a great game on the floor, it's a huge mistake anyway because only who is interested on vita will look at the floor vita demos, all the others will rightly say doom & gloom of vita. Again sony make the same mistake of the e3 2012.

Imo we should scream our disappointment with some campaign like #ps4nodrm and similar and then link it to kaz and shahid.
Who is with me?

I was reading Shahid's twitter and he seems to be aware of people's complaints, but is brushing them off, loling a lot.

@shahidkamal Very, very, very disappointed at the psvita showing on the conference, it was non existent once again, HD

@remanutd55 lol, listen, some of the bigger titles take longer to make, and we don’t announce them until closer to release. Q3, Q4 busy!

Which on the face of it, isn't quite true, they had no qualms about announcing Bioshock Vita when it didn't exist, or flying in that guy from Epic to show off stuff, when Epic had no plans to support the Vita.

At sony probably don't(want to?) understand how serious is what they did(not) at the conference and how angry and sad we are.
We should show them how many people expected more(and the expectations were already really low) and how much disappointed we are.

...Or maybe it's just true that sony wants to kill vita.

Was pretty crappy thing to wake up to wasn't it mate.

Sigh...

^that [2]
i was planning to buy a vita for my gf but i guess i'll hold it for now.

Sega announcing bringing the project diva game to europe but only the ps3 version really was the beggining of a bad e3 for the vita and me.

Still nothing announced for it that made me a little happy.

So i guess that rumors of AC phoenix isn't happening at all?
well, i'll have rayman legends, muramasa, dragon's crown and maybe killzone.
might get a 3ds xl then or maybe sooner.
