whoever speculated that nintendo is probably rushing this out for xmas is right.
I really don't believe this. besides, rushed or not, people kept saying the same about 3DLand and look at how that one turned out

Holy shit looks terrible. No reason for me to buy a Wii U anymore :'(
Local multiplayer provides better experiences something something. Last time I complained about this in a Mario thread I was told to get some friends![]()
I think a lot of us had high hopes for something very ambitious, which this game doesn't appear to be.
If this looked good I would have bought a Wii U the day Wonderful 101 came out. Now I'm having a real tough time justifying buying the thing. I can understand someone saying their whole purchase decision was hinging on this game. Mario 64 was enough to justify people buying an N64 and this game had the same persuasive potential, just largely fell short.
Agreed.
Seems that way. A fusion of World's enemies, SMB 2 and 3D land mechanics, along with some new stuff.
yes ?? 3d mario games are my favourite games and this thus far looks so horrible that it killed my entire hype surrounding the Wii U system.Your whole decision to buy a Wii was hinging on a new Mario?
The art design is so uninspired and bland it's almost painful to look at. After waiting years for an HD 3d Mario, we get this? It looks so cut and paste with upezzed textures from a 3ds game. Where is the ambition we used to see?Sarcasm? If not, what looks terrible about it?
If I didn't have a Wii U, I would definitely buy it for this game. No, it's not as impactful as 64, but no other game in history has been. For me, the Wii and Wii U are systems to play with friends, and this looks like one of the best multiplayer games to come out in years.
Although with all of my interest and praise said I am still looking more forward to Sonic Lost World I think

Sure, why not port it over eventually? I'd buy it anyways.

Well, to each his own. I think it's great on 3DS.The 3DS couldn't manage a faithful port of DKCR, a Wii game.

You read my mind.
This seems insanely conservative to me.
This actually looks considerably worse than 3D Land, so please guys stop saying "do you knowwwww how good 3D Land is????"
Yes, Ive played it and enjoyed it. But this game does not look like 3D Land. IT LOOKS SOULLESS.
Mario looks like he does in New Super Mario Bros. The levels look disgustingly bland.
I think Miyamoto has lost it.

I miss the days when Nintendo was actually creative and took risks. The Nintendo of the past would have come up with a totally new and innovative Mario game for their new console. They would not have just made a couple of direct sequels to some games they made a few years prior and called it a day.
The SNES got Super Mario World. The N64 got Super Mario 64. Hell, even the Wii got Super Mario Galaxy. What does the Wii U get? The 4th New Super Mario Bros game, and another Mario 3D Land game. Ok, Nintendo.
It is, but it's half the framerate. So imagine the sacrifices made for a Wii U game.
Honestly if anything I feel like its a disservice to 3D Land. They took one of Nintendo's best games in years and will eventually make it tiresome like New Super Mario Bros.
The reason I got a Wii U (which arrived this week) was for for one or two glorious 3d single player platform experiences like SMG 1&2. Didn't have to be galaxy 3, infact a different setup and locale would have been preferable. What I was hoping for was the same single player focus and depth and breadth of the two galaxy games.
I guess I just stupidly assumed that Nintendo would be releasing one or two can't miss single player 3d platforming games. And they still might, but after today's e3, I'm not holding my breath. DKCR2 is retro's secret big game, bleh. And now the aesthetic and design philosophy of 3dsml is the basis for the big wii u 3d Mario game....
But even though I'm disappointed, I'm glad there are lots of people in this thread really happy about the announcements. I hope nintendo finds big success with DKCR2 and SM3DL.
Watching the developer vid. It looks so laidback.
I love this.
I used to love games like Halo but they gave me too much anxiety. Contrary to popular belief, violent video games don't allow players to vent their aggression. Instead, people who play violent video games or games that are very frenetic in pace often maintain a high level of anxiety throughout. It doesn't have a calming effect.
But this Mario game - the environments, the music - it's just so soothing and nice.
Who is going to Best Buy tomorrow to play this? I have gotten two whole StreetPasses in the three or four months I've owned my XL. I'm sure that will change tomorrow. I'm heading out at 4:30.
I find it a little funny that you're using the game that was sold in japan with "Super Mario Bros 4" in the title to make this point.
Galaxy 3 would have had:
-better art direction
-an orchestrated soundtrack, no MIDI
-difficulty
-a non-isometric camera view
-creativity put into the level design
This is literally a gussed up version of 3D Land. This is not what I expected when I was hyping a 3D Mario. This is not good.
Nothing in Atlanta. Nooooolol
