I think we all suspected that Versus would become XV for a while now so the reveal didn't come as a shock to me. I was fine with it up until the Kingdom Hearts reveal. Now it feels somewhat redundant.
Yes, it is an action-based RPG. Theres not much turn-based style in it, but if you look carefully in the trailer, the command system is on the screen, as well, so we tried to keep a Final Fantasy taste. But we are not trying to make it an action-only game. Making the game Final Fantasy is the most important thing. I want everyone to imagine if Final Fantasy would be an action gamethis is what it would be.
Even with water hair still in tact. I want dat gel
2015 holiday for japan..2016 for the rest.
Well FFXIV releases this year. LR releases Feb 2014. What else are they going to release next year? They've no big game currently announced for holiday 2014.. line the dots.
Nomura on XV's Battle system.
I could've sworn they said that XV was coming to PS3 during the conference. Some other people her said they did too, what gives?
2014 holiday worldwide release
(FFXVI revealed here E3 or TGS)
2015 holiday worldwide release (Kingdom Hearts III)
2016 holiday world release (FFXVI)
Something like this, imo. SE put a lot of focus on getting big names out yearly.
August - ARR - WW
September - KH1.5 for West
October - FFXHD - WW
LR - December for JP, Feb for West
KH2.5 - Summer JP, Sept for West
Thief 4 - Late Fall WW
FF XV - Winter WW

Ahhhh, ok. Thank you, man they really got my hopes up with that. Oh well. There was some confusion. FF XIV is the one they were talking about coming to PS3 and PS4.
Hopefully. Maybe Q1 2015 worldwide. If it were 2014 though they could have said so at E3.
Yeah, it may slip into 2015 (like Jan/Feb) and that's why they've not committed to a release date. At TGS they'll probably have a new trailer showing the world exploration and whatnot, it'll end with a release window.

A part of me is sad that turn based combat is completely gone from Final Fantasy.
I think Square has just learned their lesson about promising release dates before they KNOW a game is ready to go. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a spring release date (in either 2014 or 2015, depending on how far along it is) like XIII and XIII-2 did.
The game is still in production bro.

The final product will look even better, quite likely. They've only been working on this next-gen version for a year and it already looks this good, there's still room for improvement (especially visual effects and IQ & framerate). Another year and I can't even imagine how good it will look.Holy shit @ the new gameplay. I'm not even a graphics whore, but it's freakin beautiful. If they can make the whole game look this amazing, and still have it be open world and as big as a jrpg world should be, with exploration and non linearity, then I am floored.
I was so disappointed with XIII, I loved Matsuno's XII, though. Nomura we are counting on you!!!
KH2.5 is in no way a BIG big release and they need a big Japanese game for their next fiscal year after having XIV & Lightning Returns during the current one. Versus will be released in 2014, most likely. Just because Thief might be releasing around the same time has no meaning, the Japanese side of SQEX needs to earn its keep, they can't just fool around just because their western studios have a big game coming as well.HA. no.
I'm a little disappointed there aren't more female cast members. A 9-2 (and one Ezio) ratio is not exactly ideal. This series has always done quite nicely with female gender representation. Not perfect, but not bad. Also irks me that Noctis has a full dude posse, but Stella seems to only have one gal pal on her side? I'll wait and see what kind of tale the story has to tell, but I'd have liked to have seen more ladies play a part, for either side.

Yeah, I expect this. KH3 with Osaka team will be done by 2015 no prob. FFXV should be out before it, so 2014 and Kitase team has 3 years after LR to make XVI by 2016.

If it is I'd be entirely sad, it's wonderful gameplay. There's really no reason for it to go.
That said I'm agog to see what it's like to fight with these monsters like this, being able to choose which leg to attack and all that.
Also, It can't be completely impossible to create an action game that is mentally challenging. Crisis core did it quite well.

I think traditional ATB is exhausted at the moment. What they are shooting for is far more ambitious.
Also Souls series and Witcher 2 were both more challenging than most FFs , and they were fully action RPGs.
Good point - the battle system here is far more ambitious than anything we've seen before, certainly more than any turn-based system. I encourage this kind of experimentation, it's exciting![]()
