Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Yeah, having a FF main character would just mean most likely adding another swordsman (or woman) to the roster. We got Link and FE people, besides, Square is too stingy with their characters, they made their own crossover fighter with FF characters.

As far as swordsmen go, I do wanna see Chrom in this. Awakening is awesome and Chrom was my husband in the game. tee hee :3

The thing is you never expect what are the characters that can be added , Snake for instance had zero games released on Wii yet we was included in Smash.

Has anybody heard/seen anything from the Namco Bandai development team? Are they still on the game? Maybe just on the 3DS version?

Videos and websites just have this:
© 2013 Nintendo / HAL Laboratory, Inc.
Characters: © Nintendo / HAL Laboratory, Inc. / Pokémon. / Creatures Inc. / GAME FREAK inc. / CAPCOM CO., LTD.

I don't think it means anything. IIRC, GameArts also doesn't own any copyrights for Brawl in spite of working on it in a role similar to Namco Bandai's here. The franchises and brands involved are all Nintendo's, aside from any possible guest characters. Namco Bandai is just a work force, they won't own rights for the game in the end, unless one of their characters is added.

Wonder if Pokemon trainer will be like Silver or something and use gen 2 pokemon.
X/Y was in development alongside the new Smash, so that hurts the chance of a Trainer from X/Y being added, and, really, aside from adding a trainer from the newest game, I don't see any other reason to replace the original Pokemon Trainer. Adding someone from Gold/Silver or any other past game over the original's and the most recent one would be rather random.

Still really liking that Pair idea with Chrom and Lucina - would make the Awakening rep immediately and strongly distinct from the FE representatives of the past, satisfies the people asking for Chrom and the people asking for Lucina, and more importantly, demonstrates the defining gameplay mechanic of Awakening in a really clever way. People who'd start looking into Awakening as a result of Super Smash would immediately catch on to the mechanic when they play the source game, haha.

So... no Namco character for now? ;)

As if they'd give that away via copyright!

Yeah, DQ could happen. IX and X were on Ninty consoles. Or Neku as a promotion for a TWEWY sequel!!! Awww who am I kidding, that's not gonna happen :(

I'm still a big proponent of the Avatar, as well.

NEW CHALLENGER APPROACHING!

Special attacks would be the three elemental tomes,
Thoron
Bolganone
Rexcalibur

Final Smash: MAJOR AWAKENING SPOILERS
turns into Grima

You know you want it.

It wouldn't necessarily mean that (like, a Black Mage), but at this point there's no Final Fantasy character that reminds too much of Nintendo. A generic job character is the closest to that, but still doubtful. If anything, a Dragon Quest is more likely to get a rep (but still unlikely).

I think a second Capcom representation may be due, but probably not in a form of a character. Would anyone like a Monster Hunter stage?

That would be excellent

So you would swap between them like Pokémon trainer and Zelda/Sheik? I could get behind that. The Final Smash would be the same, so that is cool.

If we're going to get any Final Fantasy rep, I'd rather it be an FF game closely tied to a Nintendo platform. Terra or Kefka would be amazing.

How about an ff1 class

or the warrior of light guy they made up the represent 1, also they really need to remake one.

Thematically, Sora from Kingdom Hearts fits better than Final Fantasy character.

Generic Black Mage could work, but at that point, why not just let it be Vivi or something.

Lucina would make for a good support, but at the same time, I'd like to see the Avatar before her in that role, just because he's designed from the start to do mage shit.

Chocobo & Co.

A Red Mage, Black Mage and Ninja with a Chocobo. DownB swaps the rider, whoever rides affects which specials can be used and whether attacks are mid-range, close combat or extra ranged.

Final Smash summons Bahamut.

Yeah, kind of how I'd imagine it. Some crazy hybrid of the Ice Climbers and Zelda/Sheik.

The real problem, I think, with the Avatar is that he's (or s/he's, rather) not a clearly defined character. The appearance is entirely up to the player. I suppose you could just put your foot down on a default vision of the character (I believe there's one for the radio play, for instance), but I think it'd be best to leave the Avatar out as vague if possible.

Well you know that's not going to stop anyone from being in Smash Bros. If avatar's in I kinda hoped he/she appeared with hood.

No not really.

Knights wizards and such, already exist in smash bros.

so thematically it would be fine.

Wii Fit Trainer girl is awesome. She sure is getting a lot of hate on the net though. I think she's cool, and they could have picked a worse character, like a Nintendog am I right?

Am I the only one thinking an Atlus character is actually very likely? Because of SMT X Fire Emblem, mainly.
I dunno, maybe. Atlus is gaining more and more prominence lately, especially after Persona, but so far all the third party characters have been from mega popular mainstream series. Instantly recognizable like Sonic and Megaman. An Atlus character might be too obscure, leaving too many people going "who's that?" But hey, curiosity about Marth and Roy in Melee helped launch FE in the West when nobody knew who the eff they were so who knows :)

I'd prefer Crono, Frog or Magus before any FF one. But I don't know who owns the rights now.

I see the FF1 characters standing a chance and would enjoy any of the Warriors of Light being included (Swordchucks and all).

I don't think so. Atlus doesn't have any characters that would make people jump out and buy this game.
That is true, but:
c'moooooooooooooooooon he totally fits

I like the way you think.

I'm just going to say that if Sonic returns for the game, I really hope they change his moveset. The guy controls superbly but has none of the killing moves or attack properties to show for it.

He needs a Meteor Smash move like the one he has in Sonic Battle. I was so disappointed that from what they drew influence from they didn't take that one critical move. Diddy Kong ended up filling that gap for me.

I'm going to go apeshit if Jack Frost is in the game.

Hell he even had his own game on the Virtual Boy... Come on, Sakurai!

Also Travis Touchdown please.

The Princess of Fitness will rise to the top. They're just mad that they showed her instead of some more traditional gaming character first. But it was such a perfect unveiling.

Yeah, I don't know anything about the Persona/SMT series, and when the SMT x FE trailer debuted I was like "Who are these people". I'm pretty sure the vast majority of gamers out there felt the same way. If they were to show someone from SMT it would have been awful doing it first before anyone else.

I think one of the reasons Wii Fit Trainer was shown early was because ROB got a LOT of backlash - he was one of the very last characters to be unveiled in Brawl, shortly before release.
Now that there's a long time distance between the initial showcase and the release of the game, people will hopefully calm their tits.

Then again, after 5 years since Brawl's release, people are still butthurt over ROB, so I don't expect them to calm down.

With that said, I don't understand why Wii Fit Trainer is getting that much hate at all. I mean, there's not really any mainstream super popular characters left.
Plus, we don't know who's going to be in it from this point on.

I suppose that's true, but I'm just putting it out there. I just think Chrom and Lucina are effectively the true faces of the game, versus, well... a hooded character won't exactly have a face, haha.

Obscurity (in the west) honestly isn't a huge barrier in terms of Smash characters. Just look at Ness and Lucas. Very far from instantly recognizable for a great deal of people buying these games. Earthbound was never popular on its' own outside of Japan, and Mother 3 never crossed over.

And yeah, WiiFit Trainer is amazing. I love, love, love the idea of characters that aren't fighting, but are (for lack of a better expression) - where the damage they're dishing out is pretty secondary and incidental to what they actually mean to do.

My only problem with her (and Villager) are their names. I don't like the generic names.

Be cool if for Wii Fit Trainer they named her something, like "Angela" or something, and Villager "Johnny" (Villager is a cool Axe Murderer name though)

Yeah, not having her as an unlockable is a good choice. And, also, ROB was officially unveiled only after release. Everyone already knew about him right before release though, since the full character list, with pictures confirming a previous rumor, leaked right before the game's official release date.

That reminds me, you guys think we'll see some MonHun representation in some form? A level, assist trophy or even a character?

Monster Hunter's staff apparently didn't want MH characters in Marvel vs Capcom, so I don't think we'll see them here either.

Everyone knows the Namco rep will be the ship (Solvalou) from Xevious. One of the first NES Classics for the GBA and one of the first 3D Classics for the 3DS. It's the go to Namco game for Nintendo.

Hey, at least I didn't say Haruka from iDOLM@STER like I usually do.
