I nearly died going through the Psycho Villager meme.
I think he beats out every new character that got announced for Brawl.

Has anybody heard/seen anything from the Namco Bandai development team? Are they still on the game? Maybe just on the 3DS version?
Videos and websites just have this:
© 2013 Nintendo / HAL Laboratory, Inc.
Characters: © Nintendo / HAL Laboratory, Inc. / Pokémon. / Creatures Inc. / GAME FREAK inc. / CAPCOM CO., LTD.
X/Y was in development alongside the new Smash, so that hurts the chance of a Trainer from X/Y being added, and, really, aside from adding a trainer from the newest game, I don't see any other reason to replace the original Pokemon Trainer. Adding someone from Gold/Silver or any other past game over the original's and the most recent one would be rather random.Wonder if Pokemon trainer will be like Silver or something and use gen 2 pokemon.
I don't think it means anything. IIRC, GameArts also doesn't own any copyrights for Brawl in spite of working on it in a role similar to Namco Bandai's here. The franchises and brands involved are all Nintendo's, aside from any possible guest characters.
I always thought it'd be cool if Loto/Erdrick appeared.Yeah, DQ could happen. IX and X were on Ninty consoles. Or Neku as a promotion for a TWEWY sequel!!! Awww who am I kidding, that's not gonna happen![]()
Still really liking that Pair idea with Chrom and Lucina - would make the Awakening rep immediately and strongly distinct from the FE representatives of the past, satisfies the people asking for Chrom and the people asking for Lucina, and more importantly, demonstrates the defining gameplay mechanic of Awakening in a really clever way. People who'd start looking into Awakening as a result of Super Smash would immediately catch on to the mechanic when they play the source game, haha.
Yeah, having a FF main character would just mean most likely adding another swordsman (or woman) to the roster.
Slime? Yes please. If we were to get a SE RPG rep it's "more likely" to be a Dragon Quest character.

So you would swap between them like Pokémon trainer and Zelda/Sheik? I could get behind that. The Final Smash would be the same, so that is cool.Still really liking that Pair idea with Chrom and Lucina - would make the Awakening rep immediately and strongly distinct from the FE representatives of the past, satisfies the people asking for Chrom and the people asking for Lucina, and more importantly, demonstrates the defining gameplay mechanic of Awakening in a really clever way. If we're going to get any Final Fantasy rep, I'd rather it be an FF game closely tied to a Nintendo platform. Terra or Kefka would be amazing.
He's a playable character in Theathrhyhththtm. But Cloud isn't in a Nintendo system aside from a cameo in that GBA Kingdom Hearts game
And remember, WoL has a score to settle with Link, his eternal rival. How about an ff1 class
or the warrior of light guy they made up the represent 1, also they really need to remake one.

Okay, got the Presskit.
[Want anything for the OT?]
There's tons of screenshots and art. I can upload the whole thing by request.
Yeah, kind of how I'd imagine it. Some crazy hybrid of the Ice Climbers and Zelda/Sheik.So you would swap between them like Pokémon trainer and Zelda/Sheik? I could get behind that. The Final Smash would be the same, so that is cool.
The real problem, I think, with the Avatar is that he's (or s/he's, rather) not a clearly defined character. The appearance is entirely up to the player. I suppose you could just put your foot down on a default vision of the character (I believe there's one for the radio play, for instance), but I think it'd be best to leave the Avatar out as vague if possible.Lucina would make for a good support, but at the same time, I'd like to see the Avatar before her in that role, just because he's designed from the start to do mage shit.

Thematically, Sora from Kingdom Hearts fits better than Final Fantasy character.
Generic Black Mage could work, but at that point, why not just let it be Vivi or something.
Am I the only one thinking an Atlus character is actually very likely? Because of SMT X Fire Emblem, mainly.
Well you know that's not going to stop anyone from being in Smash Bros. If avatar's in I kinda hoped he/she appeared with hood.
I dunno, maybe. Atlus is gaining more and more prominence lately, especially after Persona, but so far all the third party characters have been from mega popular mainstream series. Instantly recognizable like Sonic and Megaman. An Atlus character might be too obscure, leaving too many people going "who's that?" But hey, curiosity about Marth and Roy in Melee helped launch FE in the West when nobody knew who the eff they were so who knowsAm I the only one thinking an Atlus character is actually very likely? That is true, but:I don't think so. Atlus doesn't have any characters that would make people jump out and buy this game.
c'moooooooooooooooooon he totally fits

Wii Fit Trainer girl is awesome. She sure is getting a lot of hate on the net though. I think she's cool, and they could have picked a worse character, like a Nintendog am I right?

I suppose that's true, but I'm just putting it out there. I just think Chrom and Lucina are effectively the true faces of the game, versus, well... a hooded character won't exactly have a face, haha.Well you know that's not going to stop anyone from being in Smash Bros. Obscurity (in the west) honestly isn't a huge barrier in terms of Smash characters. Just look at Ness and Lucas. Very far from instantly recognizable for a great deal of people buying these games. Earthbound was never popular on its' own outside of Japan, and Mother 3 never crossed over.Wii Fit Trainer girl is awesome. She sure is getting a lot of hate on the net though. I want this little guy to enter the fray!

I think one of the reasons Wii Fit Trainer was shown early was because ROB got a LOT of backlash - he was one of the very last characters to be unveiled in Brawl, shortly before release.
Now that there's a long time distance between the initial showcase and the release of the game, people will hopefully calm their tits.
Then again, after 5 years since Brawl's release, people are still butthurt over ROB, so I don't expect them to calm down.
With that said, I don't understand why Wii Fit Trainer is getting that much hate at all. I mean, there's not really any mainstream super popular characters left.
Plus, we don't know who's going to be in it from this point on.

That reminds me, you guys think we'll see some MonHun representation in some form? A level, assist trophy or even a character?
