Metal Gear Solid V (PS3/360/PS4/XBO/Maybe PC) - Extended 9 minute E3 trailer

In the Konami pre-E3 video Kojima mentioned that he felt Big Boss could now express himself clearly through subtle facial animations, through the mystical power of the Fox Engine and Kiefer Sutherland. I'm desperately hoping this means Kojima won't feel the need to stretch every last conversation out to forty-five minutes and fill them all up with flowcharts and infographics.

I love MGS4 with all my heart, but jeez it's terrible. And awesome. In equal measures. Highest highs and lowest lows in the whole series. And most of those lows (now that I've wiped Johnny and Meryl from my memory) are due to that awful, awful script. Just wordswordswordswords, to the point where you can't even remember who you are or what year it is, let alone the understand the subject of the speech you're listening to. It's some of the most profoundly stilted and awkward dialogue I've ever heard in my life - I have nightmares about some of those between-act Mission Briefings to this day.

So, I hope Kojima learns some brevity, is all.

The Snake is Jack Bauer thing is so hard to cope with. It's like 60fps movies. My brain will just need time. For now I just hear Jack Bauer and see Snake. It's odd.

MGS4 is one of the reasons I bought a PS3 when I did, I guess MGS5 could be one to buy a PS4. (And subsequently be annoyed when the PC version is announced)

Most likely on a current-gen console or a PC locked at current-gen specs. That trailer looks like the Ground Zeroes trailer which was confirmed to be running on a PC with roughly the same specs as a PS3. People don't want to believe that for some fucking reason.
Because it's not true.
You don't run an open world game with this graphic fidelity at 1080p on current-gen consoles. There's no need to ven discuss that.

Best trailer in the series since the Snake Eater early trailers. I already wrote this series off as dead, but this might still rekindle the hype.

Well since the theme of MGs4 was the SENSE perceived by the gamers in all the past years playing the games, the presence of fanservice was logical, but not the foolishnesses !!!

Again, to support the theory that
Eli is Liquid
, for those who are thinking that.

"During the unveiling of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima announced that Liquid Snake will appear in the game. He also announced that the game will reveal exactly what made Liquid the way he was."

People tried to search Peace Walker for this, but it wasn't there. Phantom Pain is a sequel to Peace Walker, so we might see that story thread return.

guys come on...

Eli has naked torso + wearing black gloves, the description says "a yputh who curses his fate" and remember the dialogue at the top of Metal Gear in MGS?

he is Liquid

Anyone else having a problem with the character design of "QUIET" the Sniper? I think Kojima needs to get with the times and cancel his subscription to Big Girls Big Guns magazine.

I mean here he is, trying to sell us that MGS V won't shy away touching on serious issues like child soldiers and torture, but yet, at least by the look of this trailer, he fails to treat women with respect?

It's a hot button issue and digging a box out of the womb of an un-narcotized woman in graphic detail doesn't help either.

"A weapon to surpass Metal Gear."

Codename Solid Snake.

How would that be "the missing piece"?

Ocelot voice is Troy Baker?

I thought Troy Baker was playing Kaz.

Given his "handling" of PTSD in MGS4, portrayed through women based on models in skintight suits who would pose for your camera after you destroyed their "beastly" armor, I couldn't have lower expectations for the real-world issues Kojima looks to tackle here.

I never watched 24 so this is actually non-issue for me. :lol Now if I were to go through the 24 series, the weirdness would be on the other shoe.

Whoever is voicing Ocelot is pretty good.
actual voice isn't great but he has Old Ocelot's speech pattern down.

I don't mind Ocelot's voice but it's his design that bugs me. Far too mousy looking.

He reminds me of Doc Brown for some reason.
Looks a too old imo.

I would love if Hayter returned as Solid Snake

as the final boss

Would truly bring everything full circle

GOTF, Kojima the god of gods, etc

I'm trying to understand - does Eli appear pre or post Boss coma? If it's pre-coma and he looks what? Between 10 and 15 (rough estimate)? That makes him in his twenties upon Big Boss's awakening (Coma is 9 years apparently).

That means...

Solid Snake would be in his twenties by then which could mean David Hayter could voice him...
IF he even makes an appearance at whatever point during the game.

The above is providing I'm on the right path and Eli is at a specific age, and whether or not he appears as we see him in the trailer pre-coma.

No way the game's going to cover all those years

BB wakes from his coma in 1984 and the clone snakes are about 12 years old at that time so no that can't be pre-coma.

Unless... RETCON

I must have watched this trailer 20 times by now, so good.
When the music really kicks in at around 7:13, gets me every time.

I find it hard to be exited for any other games after this. Got my copy of TLoU yesterday and just didn't feel like playing it... (I did though in the end, what a game - bleak though.)

Still skeptical about Keifer as Big Boss, but if they pulled Hayter out at the end as Solid Snake somehow - all would be forgiven.

Also, dem graphics. Holy shit.

Holy fuck. Would be incredible.

I already miss Hayter. Not that Kiefer sounded bad based on the tiny bit we've heard, but it just feels weird.

Agreed. I really feel like it's Troy Baker, but I could be wrong. Whoever it is, I like it.

The one thing that is puzzling me the most is the role of Kaz/Master Miller. Before Peace Walker Miller was an unimportant character, you only really "met" him in MG2 and in MGS1 he just turned out to be Liquid in disguise, as Liquid presumably killed him.

Now all of a sudden we find out he has a MAJOR role in the creation of Outer Heaven and has a close relationship with Big Boss. So the question is what the fuck happens to him especially after the events of MG1 and MG2 when BB is gone? Who really killed him and why? And why is he wearing a trench coat like he's Big Boss or something?

Snake/Big Boss needs to start sporting that trench coat now he's no longer Naked Snake he is the legend Big Boss, creator of Outer Heaven, and The Boss's successor. So there better be a fucking tench coat outfit for Snake too.

You guys don't seriously believe this game will go up to MG I, do you? What a waste of sequel potential and money for Konami.

Go play something else then. And don't come back.

Don't tell me what to do. I actually find the gameplay of MGS quite fun when it's not full of contrived cutscenes which are riddled with shit dialogue or stuff that doesn't make any sense. It's been my only gripe with the series, if they're actually caring about voice acting this time round then they should add writing to match.

bikini sniper with Aya Brea-teared pants is a fucking atrocious design

Cool trailer, though. But I sincerely doubt Kojima & Co. will do any sort of sensible justice to the concept of child soldiers.

I think his point is that you might as well back out now. Of course Kojima will be crafting the story for MGS V. Either writing it himself or overseeing it. Really no point in hoping otherwise.

Like I said, never said I wouldn't buy the game because of it but I'll just wont pay any attention because it will be like climbing up shit mountain.

Everything is closing on to go towards MG1. Hence the loop will be completed.

I agree and it would fit perfectly to finish the story. All that's left literately after this is if he remakes the original. Wouldn't it be awesome if we finds out that this game has 3 time periods and the last half of the game is MG1 and it comes to end with Big Boss fighting Snake? It's a fantasy I know but, man one could imagine.

I could translate only 2 words of the persian inscriptions on the wall: " كوى " meaning port lights and " كورو " meaning label. The rest of the words are half erased. Is there any native persian speaking here to help us DEcipher the full code?
