Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

They should remove Wii Fit Trainer and apologize.

Then they should replace her with someone more deserving who ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE in a fighting game, like Ryu. SF2 was on the SNES and Mega Man is in there so he's the obvious choice. As GOTY 2013 Project X Zone proved, you can't have Ryu without Ken, so Ken should also be in there. And you need female representation because someone made them get rid of Wii Fit Trainer so they should add Chun-Li. Then for balance you need to add Dhalsim, Sagat, Blanka, M. Bison, Balrog, Vega, and Guile, otherwise Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li would be too powerful for everyone else.

Then Mario and Link are going to start looking weird in comparison to the rest of the cast so you need to remove them, any animal fighters (though they could be redesigned to look like Blanka), any kids, etc. Then we'll finally have Smash Bros. be a real, serious fighting game made for tournaments and people will stop laughing at me when I suggest it for the main stage at Evo.

I don't know how much you know about Nintendo fan culture, but I'm an expert.

Some of you guys are crazy with your requests, lol.

One thing I noticed, on the "boxing ring" stage the audience is comprised of "anatomically correct" humans. Considering they pretty much have no place in Smash Bros, wouldn't that be the final confirmation for Little Mac?

I know he's not fully humanoid either, but what other series would feature a boxing ring (with the exact same ropes as in Punch-Out) and anatomical humans? Seems like a lock for me.

Interesting , but animal crossing had a stage last game. And an assist trophy.

They did not however have a rep.

I would not call that lock.

I distinctly remember laughing my ass off when unlocking G&W for Melee. Why every character has to be well thought through and needs to be iconic or whatever is baffling to me. I'd take variety over popularity contests any day. We don't need 15 Mario characters, 20 Pokemon and 10 Fire Emblem characters. It's way more fun to see all these characters from completely different franchises fight each other. Wasn't that basically why this game was thought up in the first place?

Flawless, like poetry.

People should be glad they are revealing WFT now instead of making her a secret like last time.

I don't think anyone would have complained about ROB if he was one of the first few and then at the end they revealed Snake or something. Cadence is important.

I do hope that Xenoblade gets some representation, even if it's just a stage. A stage would actually be pretty awesome since that game's world is so great.

For all we know, WFG could have an amazing moveset, but that ain't the problem here. The problem is, who the hell wanted to be WFG in the first place. It's a WASTED slot. I'd much rather have a well design lovable character, than a well designed uninspiring, no-name.

dat subjectivity

This, I don't know what they were thinking with this character. Did they feel they were running low on recognizable characters?

You do know that a lot of fighting games, especially with crossovers, involves characters who aren't recognized but soon becoming fan-favorites right? Even in crossover games, it's the case.

So will Wii Fit Trainer be in the 3DS version? And have they ditched cross-platform play? Have they said anything about that?
Sakurai said in the Developer's video that both games will have the same roster, but the stages will be different (Wii U version having stages based on Console games, 3DS version based on handhelds).

The game is so obviously early in development too.
I mean Fox, Link, Pit and DK's model are the same model from Brawl, just better fur, different colour, and a slight amount of more detail.
Then the stage are pretty low res, which should be fixed up before it releases.

Proof. Show proof. You keep saying this, you have no proof.
I tried finding it earlier, but yea... I couldn't. Too much E3 info is clogging my mind. TBH, I'm not even sure if it was in one of the trailers/developer diaries. I know what I read/heard though because I couldn't believe they weren't expanding the roster. This is the best I can do right now.

"Sakurai doesn't want to simply expand stages and character counts, or enhance the graphics and call it a day. That was one of the reasons he didn't simply walk away from a 3DS-based."

You saying this after saying Daisy should have been in WFT's place is oh so ironic.
Anything's better than WFG. You can't compare WFG against Daisy.

He said they'd have the same amount of characters. Whether that means they'll have the same roster is unclear.

Skyloft looked exactly as it did in Skyward Sword, as in like they'd ported it over. I can't imagine it will stay exactly the same for release.

That doesn't say they won't increase the roster count. It is saying they don't just want to do that only and call it a day.

Wii Fit Trainer is actually more relevant in her game than Daisy is in the games she is in.

GAUR PLAINS

or like... maybe on some kind of flying thingy orbiting the mechonis and the bionis. That'd be fuckin' rad

He said same amount not quite the same thing as "same roster"
Could be i.e 40 and 40 for each platform but with some exclusives.

I hope not.

1) -snip-

Really? You're complaining about visual changes? I mean, I get where you're coming from, but I don't see it as integral. I didn't even know that the grappling hook and the hookshot looked different.

2) -snip-

First off all - you never got back with that source. So no, it hasn't "already been decided to be the same as Brawl's".
And no, they don't have to decide how many characters to include. They have a general guideline. They can say "alright, we wanna have around 10 new characters", and end up with exactly 10 new characters, or they can end up with just 8, or they can end up with even 12.

I would think alone the fact that Brawl's initial development included up to 7 more characters that got axed during development for unknown reasons would be sufficient proof that there's no "slots". They're not gonna say "we need EXACTLY 36 characters in Brawl", they're gonna say "we'd like to have around 40 characters in Brawl".

To respond to the rest of your paragraph here: I didn't think of Wii Fit Trainer as an addition to the roster before the trailer, but after seeing her, she's a PERFECT fit. How doesn't she fit in? What exactly about her makes you think she doesn't "belong"?

I didn't say sales made people want her, I said that she wasn't a "no-name". Don't twist what I said. And it has nothing to do with advertising, it has nothing to do with including her so Wii Fit gains more popularity AT ALL. They don't need to advertise Wii Fit.

After the obvious choices of Mario, Link, etc. their logic behind character inclusion almost always is "Which character would be fun to play as?", and they thought Wii Fit Trainer was going to be a fun inclusion. Which she is. You can see they put a lot of detail and humor into her moves.

Also, your comparison to Call of Duty is really, REALLY stupid. Just saying. But, yes, I'd rather have Soap than a lot of the most requested Nintendo characters. He could at least have Snake's moveset if Snake got axed.

3) -snip-

Of all the things you're naming DAISY? lol.
Okay, so you're calling Wii Fit Trainer a no-name mannequin, but Daisy is a "great rep"? What's she gonna "rep"? The Mario spin-offs? Throw soccer balls and swing a golf club like Peach does?

And yeah, of course. They're totally going to scrap Wii Fit Trainer because people on the internet don't like her. But you know what? If they're gonna scrap her, no character will take her place.

So, what will you take, raging internet people? A game with X characters including Wii Fit Trainer, or a game with X-1 characters but without Wii Fit Trainer?
Is your hatred big enough to ask for a smaller roster?

3) Daisy can fulfill the role of this no-name mannequin. If you didn't know, she's known as being a tomboy who loves sports. That's more than enough to replace WFG, but I'll take it a step further. Just imagine what her moveset could've been. The whole thing could've revolved around sports. Any and all kinds. Plus, she would've been a great female rep for the Mushroom Kingdom, right alongside of Peach. I guarantee you that the majority of people would vote her in over WFG.

Sounds like you missed the whole concept of WFT's moves. She isn't sports based, she is fitness based. A lot of her attacks also seem to be low level floor based moves.

Yeah he doesn't want to just increase the character count.

And yeah, Peach clone, that's totally what we need. Strange people.

Also holy shit WFT got so many fanart all of a sudden.

Apparently being called a waifu now.

Nah, Waluigi over Daisy...definitely not over WFT. Never thought I'd say that though, I mean what the fuck, WFT looks great.

As for Waluigi > Daisy... well Daisy starred in a mainline game!

Ahright.. Well, I tried. I gave my two cents and it ain't strong enough to compete with gaf. I still think there are better characters to choose from. #notfeelinwfg

Let's pretend Daisy was announced instead of WFT for a minute

*opens dimension door*
"WAHHHH WHO THE FUCK IS DAISY PEACH CLONE WHERE THE HELL IS THAT PLANT FAIRY FROM THAT NES PUZZLE GAME THAT NEVER LEFT JAPAN AND SOLD LIKE 2 COPIES THAT APPEARED IN CAPTAIN RAINBOW"
*closes dimension door*

So much better.

This is blatantly wrong. If you think Link is the same model you need to get your eyes checked

If there are characters they want in, they will put them in. WFT didn't replace anyone.

When it comes out? People are already accusing her of stealing a spot.

People have no appreciation for an in shape and healthy young woman. :(

When this game comes out? Try later this week.
Well, I imagine when the full roster is revealed and Geno is once again confirmed he's not in (as it should be) his fans actually think Sakurai sat at a table with a Geno picture in his left hand and a WFT picture in his right and decided WFT would be the one and not Geno.
