Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

They should really get some synergy going with Smash and their new games. Like Marvel does with its Avengers movies. After you beat Wonderful 101 or Super Mario 3D land have a little bonus video of one of the Heroes or Wart king of the Subcon make a cameo promoting Smash and letting us know they will be playable characters.

They can do the same with the new wii Fit too I guess.

If anything Waluigi will be the one doing the interrupting.

Geno should get announced with a epic trailer that gets completely interrupted with Waluigi jumping on his head, cutting the epic music to the Waluigi Island's music, and Waluigi shouts out: "TOO BAD WALUIGI TIME"

I lamented months ago that SSB4 couldn't possibly have a newcomer roster to match Brawl's, but the three revealed so far have already proven me wrong. Animal Crossing's a major series, Mega Man's an icon, and the Wii Fit Trainer's a fantastic surprise. Not to mention there are still potential heavy hitters left in Toad, Dixie Kong, Ridley, Little Mac, and Pac-Man.

OK, I've watched the dev diary, and the fight between Sakurai and Nate, but I still don't understand: How does Mega Man's variable weapon system work? How do you choose which of the special powers to use?

I figured they were his basic attacks, b button attacks, smashes, tilts, aerials, and guts man for grab

From the developer direct I think I have Mega Man for the most part figured out;

Jab: Mega Buster
Dash: Top Spin
Side Tilt: Mega Buster (can move and shoot)
Up Tilt: Mega Upper
Down Tilt: Slide
Side Smash: Charge Shot
Up Smash: Spark Shot
Down Smash: Flame Blast

Neutral Air: Mega Buster
Forward Air: Flame Sword
Back Air: Slash Claw
Up Air: ??? (only one I don't think we've seen)
Down Air: Hard Knuckle

Neutral Special: Metal Blade
Side Special: Crash Bomber
Up Special: Rush Coil
Down Special: Leaf Shield

Grab: Super Arm

And no Final Smash seen yet either I suppose.

I don't know if it's as simple as B attacks. Sakurai used the word 'system' over and over again in the dev diary video. I'm guessing/hoping that this installment will have new gameplay additions. Maybe each character is more differentiated than in the past?

I think this is accurate, though I am not certain about the placement of Top Spin and the Slide. I sort of thought the Slide was the Dash Attack. You might be correct, though.

Like in the Mega Man games. You press start and choose your weapon!

:lol no

So... since Toon Link is now part of a stage, you think he'll be dropped completely?

I think Link's up+b now has multi-hit. Maybe they're phasing him out.

Good riddance.

If they're going far to make A "Mega Buster", there's no way that down+A isn't slide like in the Megaman games.

Don't forget Palutena.

There will be a young link variant regardless. They could ALTTW Link for handheld and toon link for console.

Young Link/Toon Link have always been better than the adult versions so I don't get the hate.

I think the "young Link" this time might be the one from A Link Between Worlds.

So I'm looking at Brawl, and the starting roster without unlockables was 21 characters, with 9 of them being new characters and 12 returning characters. For the new game, they've already revealed 9 returning characters and 3 new characters. (Comparatively, the Brawl reveal had 5 old and 4 new, 5 if you count Zero Suit.)

I wonder if this gives us any indication of the starting roster. If the rumors are true and three more newcomers are revealed this week, we'd already have 15 characters revealed, which is six shy of the Brawl starting roster. To me, that would indicate perhaps a larger starting roster of around 30, with maybe 10-12 newcomers and 18-20 vets, pushing the total roster with hidden characters to around 50? Maybe?

Could be wishful thinking based on the amount of characters revealed off the bat, but who knows.

Well, conductor Link has a different outfit and he's a completely separate character from Wind Waker Toon Link. It's not like having both at once would be visually confusing. Smash Bros trophy descriptions have always talked about how the younger Link is the original Link and such (and Toon Link even had a LoZ color) too. i think the only way they're dropping him is if they drop all derivative characters here (like Falco, Ganondorf, Luigi etc), and I'm not sure that's really going to happen. Of course, most of them are unlockables anyway, so we'll only know for sure when the game is out.

Hey there's always room for more goofy DK avatars.

I'm just worried the NeoGAF guy edited his post after the reveal to make it look as though he knew about Villager, Mega Man, and Wii Fit Trainer in advance. Is there any way of checking if a post has been edited?
It says under the post if its been edited and when.at least I think ot does. Maybe not for mobile.

I hope the Villager replaces Game & Watch. It's hard for me to see how Game & Watch can show off the HD graphics of the Wii U.

What...what...?

I really don't get why some people dislike Game & Watch. It's like people don't know Nintendo history or something. The character originates from one of the first LCD calculator-esque games. There's a ton of history and a the impact this had on handheld gaming is much MUCH bigger than a lot of people know. Every time I see some one hate on him, I just get disappointed.

Sakurai has made changes to the characters to make them standout and really shine in HD. Samus's design is reworked, Bowser's stance shows off more of the character, Link seems brighter, DK has fur, even the Wii Fit Trainer has a colorful final smash attack.

When I look at Game & Watch I find it difficult for Sakurai to make any changes to the character to match with the goal he's going for.

I hope the guy who posted those characters is wrong. :( None of those three characters really excite me.
That isn't the point to me. Revealing six newcomers at E3 implies the roster is going to be huge. Revealing three newcomers at E3 might not bode well for the final count.

So I wonder if Namco is gonna help Sakurai balance this game.
It doesn't really matter to me anyway, I don't really pay attention to tiers or crap like that.

some people don't care about that. A lot of those people would rather have that one guy from that one rpg that came out that no one today remembers.

This is excellent. I could see this working.

It saddens me. I love G&W. I'll be utterly disappointed if he's removed.

Yeah, but Nintendo does =p Naturally, they'd respect their own history and their beginnings. I applaud them for that, instead of simply just focusing on the new stuff that's out today.
