Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

He's a character that non Nintendo fans can play and then move onto the rest. That also goes vice versa. I know plenty of people who got into metal gear because of his inclusion in smash.

So I'm just saying I think its petty to hate on the character for not fitting into your idea of Nintendo history. He has his place and benefits being on the roster.

Totally agreed. Snake being a traditional PlayStation character is part of his appeal. In a way, he is like a window to the non-Nintendo universe. If anything, having a rep for things not directly related to Nintendo is a good thing; and Snake was a good choice, because his Nintendo appearances are exactly the kind of appearances that create a special bond between a franchise and a company. We don't typically get "regular" MGS games, but when we do, we're in for a special treatment.

I think that along with Mega Man (friend), Sonic (rival), he makes a pretty good variety of third-party characters, as the "outsider".

Everyone agrees that this guy should be in, right?

And he'll do what? Steal your horse and summon the moon?

He spent 95% of the game just laughing.

Well he'd be a hell of a lot better than Wii Fit Trainer or a Mii. Besides he could use some powers from his final form, like whips.

Summoning the moon would be a great final smash btw

High mobility (nimble and floaty), shadow magic (like Mewtwo), some tentacle based attacks, final smash would be summoning the moon that would slowly fall onto the stage an eventually explode (a time bomb basically)

He's entirely workable as a fighter.

Hahaha, Villager in Smash Bros.?

And he'll do what? Garden and pay off debts?

Just because you don't have the creativity to imagine a good move set doesn't mean it's not possible. :p

I just wanted to show my support for Snake. It always bums me the amount of people who just want to throw him on the guillotine. He's the character that got me into Smash. Playing melee all I had at my disposle was DK....and I wasn't even good at him. Snake was the best ground to teach me smash and go back to melee and still be good at the game. Also I think he still has enough Nintendo connection and popularity to be a good fit for smash. Not to mention his left field status which is a good thing. Also if he isn't making it to the new smash. I hope his move set isn't dropped. Said before it'll be a good fit for a advanced wars character

Fake Edit: I am so hyped for Wii Fit Trainer. Absolutely amazing addition to the roster.

My only gripe with Snake is that he needs to be rebalanced. Relatively fast, quick and powerful moves, more than one good recovery option, and all the projectiles. Second only to Metaknight for being absolutely broken.

Never thought about it like that, but that definitely works even more than I thought.

I have nothing against him. I just find his inclusion unlikely. But then I said the same about Mega Man and I'd LOVE to be wrong.

LMAO, Skull kid has done shit in other zelda games though i'm sure. Like someone else said if a moveset can be made for WFT than a moveset can be made for anyone.

Well, Wii Fit Trainer's moveset actually is all her yoga moves and other lessons from Wii Fit, and Villager uses all sorts of items that he himself uses...

In a lot of ways, those two characters actually were more viable as characters than people like Falco or C. Falcon when they debuted, and the same goes for Skull Kid who just jumps around summoning moons and stuff.

Definitely wont disagree with that. He definitely is a bit to good.

You guys think there will be a simultaneous launch?

I think they can make the most money releasing the 3DS one first (by 6 months or so?) and then the Wii U version, possibly taking some fan feedback and balance information to fine-tune the wii U one. I think releasing them separately will also kill some of the hype for the Wii U one, though. Tough decision.

Edit: now that i think about it, wii U first would help sell the system by a lot.

Yeah, I mean Fox and Captain Falcon made this "What would ___ do?" argument moot anyway, with Villager and Wii Fit Trainer it's even more useless...

If there's any Zelda side villain that should be in:

Every time I fought him, I thought, "Man, this guy would be great for Smash, he's got lots of moveset material."

Let's be honest here - the only reasonable Zelda expectation is Tingle. He has his own game series, rivals Ganondorf in number of appearances, was an Assist Trophy in Brawl, and Japan loves him.

because yoga moves and stretches are the best tools for a fighter ? Don't get me wrong WFT is very unique and im curious to see how she'll play but calling her more viable than than a bounty hunter. Nah don't see it.

When has Smash Bros. viability been about actual fighting? Jigglypuff's been in every game in the series and her strongest attack is falling asleep on people.

Does Captain Falcon use any moves that really show he's a bounty hunter?

He grabs people, holds them for a second, then explodes on them and throws them away from himself. Uh huh, yeah.

I saw the Developer Direct for this and it looked absolutely amazing. I'm already satisfied with the visuals. It can only get better from here. :)

The main problem with Brawl was the defensive abilities were so good and the offensive was nerved into the ground. Part of that was because of the slower speed, but another big factor was how you could cancel hitstun so quickly with the air dodge, rendering it completely irrelevant.

So you have online matches with guys standing completely still, waiting for you to go on the offense so they could counter with their overpowered defense.

The trailers still showcase this problem, at least to my eye.

I don't know what to think with this game. I want to like it so bad. Please don't be Brawl "2"...

And this thread is too much character begging/fan fiction for my taste. One day someone ought to make "Super Smash Bros discussion thread - no roster bullshit".

There are really only three other Zelda characters that could work in SSB:

Impa
Tingle
Vaati

They're the only ones that have had repeated, significant roles across multiple games. Vaati's the least likely, as his time has passed and he's a villain. Reading Hyrule Historia, Miyamoto has a soft spot for Impa IIRC, and Tingle is an awesome choice (especially since he has his own game series) but the story goes that gamers hate him so who knows.

Are we really having this discussion? I mean, with how many posts, how many times this has been discussed, how silly it actually is when you think about it, and how many Smash games have had all types of oddball characters, are we really trying to make sense of why a character's fighting style in Smash isn't the most logical thing in existence?
