Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Was it confirmed that both versions of the game will have the same characters? I've noticed that Wii Fit Trainer is the only character who doesn't have 3DS pictures on her profile page and I'm starting to think she's only in the Wii U version. It guess it would make sense considering Wii Fit was never portable but I really hope they don't take this path with their roster.

On the eShop, the WFT and Villager Joins the Fight videos are in both the 3DS and Wii U sections. I'm fairly sure they're in both, just maybe the character models aren't finalized in the portable version.

Dunno. He looks pretty old to me

Even though he appears pretty old in the production/cutscene art, LTTP/Oracle games/BW-Link has always been described as a "child".

Frankly, I hope they do replace Toon Link with LTTP Link. And even better, include LTTP-style Ganon, as well so that he can have a designated "rival".

Hey, if they can have two distinct Links...

Well... we already kinda know Toon Link is out given the fact that he's in the background of the Spirit Tracks stage in the 3DS version... so it's possible that's what they're gonna do.

I'm not sure, but Nintendo has a history of being sneaky with Smash Bros. stuff. Brawl's trailer was revealed at a special after hours conference back in 2006, and nobody saw it coming.

Oh wow, Little Mac is pretty much confirmed since they have that stage they showed in the trailer.

I hope Bayonetta is in it, she can work very good in Smash Bros.

I wonder if a Nintendo VS Capcom is now possible due to MegaMan's inclusion in the game, that's a game I've been wanting to see for a long time

On top of that, in the dev diary, after the "number of characters" line, Sakurai goes on to confirm that stages in the versions are going to be different, which heavily implies that there won't be different characters. The "number of characters" line might've been a mistranslation or just poorly worded. Don't pay too much attention to it.

I am pretty sure we'll not get any platform-exclusive characters. Maybe something like alt costumes at best, but there's way too much work that goes into the roster which makes me sincerely doubt they would make 2 or more characters that are just in one version.

The lack of an "edited by" tag means he didn't modify it after the reveal. That was posted a day before the Nintendo Direct.

Geez. On paper these leaks sound so disappointing. Even though they made WFT, Villager and Mega Man work, nothing so far sounds like an exciting new addition in terms of known Nintendo franchises. It all seems too gimmicky. On top of that if the game tries to do another SSE I just don't see any of these characters actually work together. I really hope the game doesn't go the way of PSABR and make everything feel so disjointed and lacking in cohesiveness.

Ah well. Hoping that either a deal of the roster is substantially replaced by a lot of choices from other franchises or that the roster is huge as hell.

I think it's safe for me to predict that Bayonetta won't be in this game =D

Safer than Ryce's prediction of no Brawl AT characters getting in as playable lol.

I'l buy a Wii U Smash bundle, nintendo.
DO IT

I haven't been paying attention, but do we know how Mega Man activates his Robot Master powers yet?

I had always thought that if they did do MM they would give him power-stealing a-la Kirby, but I think I like this better

They're all mostly done through his various aerials, tilts, and smash attacks. Just like Snake's mine, mortar, and RPG-7 were his smash attacks.

Its his whole moveset. Every attack uses a different Robot Master power.

I'd almost mistake that for being legit.
Good work.

I'd have to agree on that. Doing exclusive characters just doesn't seem like it would be a smart thing to do for his team.

Have they said if the 3DS version will be 60fps?

I'd like to think it would be, since Smash is traditionally a 60fps series. What framerate did the N64 game run at?

To be honest, I'm never quite sure how powerful the 3DS actually is. I don't know if 60fps is a pipe dream or not.

Villager doesn't have 3DS pics either.

They said there will be the same number of characters on both systems, which with wording like that has me curious if we'll get system exclusives (which I don't want, I'd rather have the same roster on both platforms) or just bad wording.

That's why I wish that people would ask Sakurai to clear up with the rosters. Is it misword or intentional?

Definitely THIS!

Also, when does the Dojo get updated?

Okay, reposting the gif because I feel like this got unnoticed and buried.

My Theory: Going by what's been assumed about his moveset, the second time Mega Man jumps, he does a fullhop back air. At first I thought the move was designed to act like Marth's back air and make Mega Man face the other direction after using it. However, looking at it closely, it's actually animated to end with Mega Man facing the same direction he started like most moves in the game. The whole animation finishes while he's in the air, so Mega Man won't be under the effects of landing lag when he lands, meaning he can act immediately. He lands facing the right, but he's holding left on the analog stick. Because there's no landing lag, it looks fluid as he keeps his momentum to the left. What happens next is something that's similar to Pivot Walking in Brawl, where you maintain your momentum as you turn around (and depending on your character, you may even get a boost). Mega Man then dashes by releasing left and then smashing the stick (again, momentum in play here, so his walk animation never really starts) and then jumps.

great analysis

Im happy that it looks like more hitstun can allow for real combos.

I'd support Wonder-Red, especially since it'd help promote Wonderful 101 since people might want to check out the game that the character is from.
