Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

lmao, this shit just gets better

If it is TP Link, it flies in the face of series logic, regardless of how poorly it might have sold. They've always included the most recent console Link till now. I don't think it is Twilight Link, though...it may the Link from the upcoming Wii U Zelda (which for all we know could be a sequel to Twilight Princess).

Do people really care about this? Genuinely curious.

megaman is floundering behind both trainer and villager.

YOU TAKE THAT BACK

I'm legit excited for Mega Man based a lot on him seemingly having a projectile attack as a normal, that's pretty nuts. Villager's move set looks cool but he needs to be customisable, and WFT is a WTF character that will probably turn out to be fairly average and get popular via the ridiculousness of it all.

But Mega Man looks perfect.

I can't pin a particular point in the trailers, but I just love everything they've done with Bowser. Changing his posture so he stands upright and can actually run is AWESOME. And he just looks great with the brighter color palette and skin textures.

It could technically be based on the tech demo Zelda.

Also, this isn't the first time. Young Link in Melee was based on Ocarina, rather than Majora's Mask, in spite of Majora's Mask stage. He had the kokiri shield, rather than Majora's Mask Hero shield, and even though he could use the hook and bow, like MM's young Link, the design of those weapons weren't based on the ones from Majora's Mask, and they were just there due to reusing attacks from standard Link.

I hope (and think) the Smash Bros prophet is wrong, I don't want any of these in SSB4. Well, Little Mac is fine I guess, just low-priority for me

I'm inclined to believe him because nobody could have predicted Wii Fit Trainer, but I truly don't want Mii or Pac-Man in Super Smash Bros. But if you asked me a couple days ago, I wouldn't have wanted Wii Fit Trainer either.

I hope (and think) the Smash Bros prophet is wrong, I don't want any of these in SSB4. Well, Little Mac is fine I guess, just low-priority for me
Reasons why I think the Smash Prophet is right:

- He listed Villager, when the prevailing wisdom of the time said Sakurai wouldn't include an AC character as per his past comments

- He listed Wii Fit Trainer, a character NOBODY saw coming

- He listed Mega Man, and of course, Mega Man was revealed

- He posted his list on GAF the night before the Direct, and didn't edit it after the fact

- He told Gemantsu his list of six E3 reveals a week before the Direct

- There is a "Smash Circuit" boxing arena; much like "Smashville" as the AC stage, I suspect this is Little Mac's stage

- There's symmetry to these reveals: Two "character" newcomers (Villager, Little Mac), two third-party mascots (Mega Man, Pac-Man), two "Wii" characters (Wii Fit Trainer, Mii).

- Wii Fit Trainer's reveal coming AFTER Villager and Mega Man, in her own separate video, suggests other individual trailers may be lined up for their own separate reveals

As for why Nintendo might do such a thing... Perhaps the plan would be to give us three newcomers on the first day, give us the second day to talk about them, and then close out the event with renewed momentum with the reveal of three more newcomers.

Sakurai's in town, he'd probably like to see the reactions. He's not one to NOT outdo himself; he always goes above and beyond the call of duty. He brought five newcomers to Brawl's debut; six newcomers (including two third-party) would certainly do the trick here.

So... I don't know. I'm cautiously optimistic.

If Pac-Man gets in, I hope they're done with 3rd party characters. I also hope Sakurai gives us some Shulk and K. Rool and Ghirahim, COME ON SAKURAI

Oh hey who's the protagonist of StarTropics

Wii Fit trainer is my favorite newcomer of the three.

I've watch her trailer more than the other two. Her moves, the music, and her dialogue are just perfect

Oddly enough, Mii and Wii Fit Trainer make a lot of sense. They represent an entire generation of Nintendo consoles. Which new series did EAD introduce last generation? Mii games and Wii Fit. Smash Bros. is sort of like a playable Nintendo museum, and it's cool to have characters from the "casual dominance" era.

so salromano is the "Smash Prophet" now, eh? :P

I'm okay with this. I hope he gets tagged as such.
If and when the rest of the prophecy comes true. ;)

He's still actively posting here, btw. Checked his post history and saw him opining in the Killzone Shadow Fall thread. Anyone want to do what I'm too polite to do and hound him for clues, lol.

All I see is empty calories.

If Pacman gets in, I hope Sakurai manages to make him resemble his old famous 2d self somehow. He somehow made an updated version of Megaman's 8 bit sprite into a 3d model, and apparently changed basic mechanics just for him (like the moving buster and all the special attacks). If Pacman is approached like that too, I guess I could end up not disliking his addition.

Pretty sure that this is just a generic fighting ring. If anything, it makes me think that little mac isn't in it. Why would you have a smash bros boxing ring instead of a punch-out!! boxing ring? Unless this is a temporary texturing so as to not spoil his reveal, which is certainly possible.

But then if that was their game, I would not expect little mac to be revealed this week. That would certainly be a lot of work to do for an extra 3 days of hype.

Wii Fit trainer is my favorite newcomer of the three.

Yeah, loved the music in that trailer - anyone have any idea what it's from? Smash Bros. original?

I love all 3 newcomers. Mega Man was the only one I was actually anticipating, but the other 2 have won my love.
Agreed. I love all three newcomers, and much like Pokémon, I honestly can't pick a favorite. They're each unique, and it's the way they add to the diversity of the roster and enrich the experience as a whole that's so lovely.

Mii could be an excellent character. There could be a default Mii, but you can also play as every Mii on your system. Now Bowser can light YOU on fire! And Mii could tap into a wide variety of games for moves, not just Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, but also Pilotwings Resort, Nintendo Land, Wii Play, and more. It could be a ton of fun. :)

I just need Bayonetta and Shulk (even though Shulk isn't third party but Bayonetta kinda is)

I love all the newcomers, but yeah Wii Fit Trainer is so freaking funny, I love her fighting attacks.

I hope the leaks are wrong, if only because I'd rather everyone finds everything out together by checking the Dojo/Miiverse/Whatever so we can all erupt in unison.

I can't believe how well they nailed mega man. SO.GOOD.

And an animal crossing rep being absent was my biggest disappointment in brawl.

The game speed looks closer to melee.

Honestly at this point I don't even care who else gets added. I will be disappointed if toon link is out though, but I'll live...

Since it got leaked then I think Nintendo realized that and probably held them back until everyone forget all about leaks. :P
Honestly, I'm a bit worried about that. Nintendo watches forums. They could be altering their strategy and withholding the characters now. :-\

You don't just put a boxing arena in a fighting game celebrating all things Nintendo, and then NOT link it to Punch-Out. :)

Just to reiterate how nobody predicted Wii Fit Trainer, she's not even in that SSB fan roster maker program, and that thing has the fucking Flipnote Frog.

So we're not going to get the other three characters? :C
No one said that. We honestly don't know one way or another.

There is always the possibility the person who approached Gemantsu a week ahead of time and shared his six predictions was just EXTREMELY lucky. But what are the odds someone shooting from the hip would say Wii Fit Trainer over a "safer" bet like Palutena or some other character people were actually expecting.

That's why I think this person is onto something, and Little Mac, Pac-Man and Mii are in fact in the game, and were slated for E3 reveals, as the source told Gemantsu.

Best-case scenario: They're all revealed tomorrow, in a bid by Nintendo to close out E3 with renewed hype.

Yes, that's how I imagine a lot of people see it. Unfortunately, it looks as though Donkey Kong took Pikachu's place this time.

It seems so...

If you asked me in previous Smash Bros, then yes, but it looks like Kirby took the back seat for Donkey Kong. Though it showed all 5 going into the 3DS.

Pikachu's missing from the artwork of the newcomers, though.

DK? Especially now that his games are popular again

Same four featured prominently in Brawl's first E3 trailer.

Not just that, Melee too!

I know that 64 features different beginning characters, as does this game, but basically I've grown to see them as the main four because of Melee and Brawl.

They're the four that are usually always there, but it seems Pikachu has been replaced - he's not there in Wii Fit Trainer's artwork or Villager's, but the other three are... I'd still see them as the four, though.

I just need Bayonetta and Shulk (even though Shulk isn't third party but Bayonetta kinda is)
The problem with Shulk is that he's only appeared in one game. With the exception of retro characters, only "series" get playable representation. Sakurai acts like introducing new worlds into Smash Bros. is a sacred process.

You guys should look at some GameFAQs threads for this game. Just for kicks. I saw a post about how Wii Fit Trainer is horrible, taking up space properly belonging to Goku and Naruto.

I can't believe how well they nailed mega man. SO.GOOD.

People should just hire Sakurai to update classic characters for them. So simple and perfect, I'm amazed that Capcom haven't been able to hit that mark across dozens of games and a couple of decades.

The overlap between GameFAQs and Miiverse must be staggering.
