Thats my favorite gameplay part. My favorite part overall though is just how awesome the CGI animation on the transformation into the Flame Blast is. I would love a Mega Man animated show done in that style

I know it's not Link, but Sakurai explicitly stated that Melee Ganondorf was based on the GameCube tech demo.

Well, it's not the same model, obviously, but it is based on it. For starters, Majora's Mask Link doesn't have a Deku Shield.

I better not click on any of those other thumbnails or I'll spend the entire night watching animal videos, lol.On the subject of watching the Smash videos over and over, I definitely like the Mega Man video, although I didn't grow up playing the games like you did, so I'm probably not picking up on many of the references. But even to my untrained eyes, I can tell Sakurai is approaching this character with great love and respect. It's heartwarming to see.
On another note... If the rest of those rumored characters (Little Mac, Pac-Man, Mii) are to be revealed tomorrow, I wonder where, and when, and in what fashion? I also wonder what Nintendo's thought process is in this regard. I mean, the person who was right about Villager, Mega Man and Wii Fit Trainer probably saw the media prepped for them in advance... so maybe Nintendo has trailers ready to go?
If so, they'd just need to push a button... I really really REALY want to see Pac-Man, if the rumor is for real.

It honestly looks like a mashup of the two designs. The tunic looks like a more detailed version of the SS one with the very visible chainmail underneath and the eyes have a similar shape and style to SS Link, but the shading and texture work is straight out of TP.
That'd be amazing... Well, whatever happens, happens. I'm trying not to get hyped up when they can just as easily not show them. If they DID show them, though, Sakurai will have unveiled six newcomers -- one more than he did with Brawl. It feels right... But who knows with Nintendo.
RE: Mega Man trailer: Just wanted to add I really like how they depict the insides of his head, with the computer monitor and the bits and bobs. I like the idea that this small, boy-like robot is so densely packed with advanced tech that on a micro-scale, he has flickering screens and lights and what have you crammed inside his skull.
I don't see the problem with Link. Most of the characters in the game have original designs based on various games, so why does Link have to be pulled directly from the latest Zelda? When I look at SSB4 Link, I see Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. That's a design feat, and it's preferable to looking at Link as being from a single game in the series. That dates him.

I agree. I demand an amazing introduction that rivals or bests Melee. The CG is fantastic. Link's CG incarnation is probably one of my favorite renditions of the character. Too bad his face looks so strange in-game occasionally.

I also agree here. I loved that. I immediately knew it was Super Smash Bros. when Villager received the letter, but I still loved the veterans' appearance. The song sounded great there, too. Unfortunately, I think Melee has it beat. I'll probably like it better than Brawl's main theme eventually (since I've heard it so much now that I'm almost sick of it).

Yes, that's how I imagine a lot of people see it. Unfortunately, it looks as though Donkey Kong took Pikachu's place this time.
