Dude, your reaction vid to the announcement was absolutely hilarious! I think I reacted similarly lol.

Anyway, thanks for all your impressions and the dev interview...Very informative and better coverage than the shitty misinformation alot of the vg sites are parroting.

LMAO right. This is all I saw during Max's vid

I had no idea Ken Lobb was so good at KI. He was seriously blowing people on that stream. Klobbering time indeed

please bring back the announcer from killer instinct 1 and 2. the new one sucks

also have him say c - c - c - c- c - Combo breaker again instead of just Combo breaker :-(

Pretty sure the original announcer was Ken Lobb. And he seems to be the announcer for KI3. One's voice changes a bit after almost 20 years.

The SNES ver. did that. Remember: It's in Alpha.
All I hope for is they keep the same inflection as the original game on all the combo type names... "Mmmmmoooooonnnnnnsssttteeerrrr Combo!"

This!

Really liking how they're breaking it down on the Madcatz stream. The game is just pure hype.

This was a quote from one of the graphic devs on KI too all the crazy ass effects/particles/lighting that happen during a match.

'Our goal is 60 fps. Never failing, never submit to less. It's too important.'

I fucking swooned.

Holy shit yes. These guys get it.

I can only imagine what it's like in 60fps not streamed.

That is Ryan Hart playing. That's not your average gamer.
Yeah I know Ryan hart, he is very talented but he would never master Street Fighter IV so quickly. The combo system is the core of Killer Instinct, I just hope the game demands a minimum of effort to accomplish the best combo.

The overexagerated effects were in the original arcade version. They were incredible impressive for its time.

I also like how impressive they are now; they actually bounce off the character bodies, sit on the ground, and leave a lot of latent effects to fall later, after the rest dissipate.

It's great, because a lot of the effects still leave the OVERBLOWN feeling, but you can tell a lot of thought has been put into not making them blatantly distracting.

I honestly think I am the only one here in this thread who feels the sparks are way over the top and need to be toned down.

I feel they were made by someone who has just started using particle effects and realized that they could crank them up because they could and it didn't effect performance.

They seem too distracting and gimmicky for the sake of a WOW!

Just my 2 cents.

Never played KI before? The entire game is over the top, that's whats special about it.

1) The game is in, like, Pre-Alpha.

2) He's just doing an Instict cancel to set up two ultra combos. It's not like you can bust out that 97-104 hit combos in the middle of a match.

Thank you, your videos are awesome!

I can't believe they're so into the story. I know story isn't always a big thing in fighting games, at least not to me, but it's really nice to see how much the developers seem to love the lore in the game.

you can beat killer instinct for free using one character they give you! pretty awesome..

"Killer Instinct is a game where we're giving you one character for free and you can play that character through the whole game. You'll also be able to buy all the characters. Or you can buy individual characters. Now we haven't announced pricing or anything, but it's going to be reasonable pricing within our ecosystem that people would expect."

its a style over substance fighting game. please dont tell me you thought this would dethrone sf or tekken or some shit lol

And to be fair, KI is just a game for button mashers to pull of "sick combos"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbretRCS_XY
you can do most of this shit without even trying in the original games.

That combo is end of match stuff, not actual mid match fighting. His opponent is already dead after 4/5 hits. Its just for funsies.

Can someone confirm if they heard the same thing about XP betting in the MadCatz live stream?

There's absolutely nothing about it on the net and would like confirmation of if they were talking about KI or another game.

I think I'll just take the almost universal positive feedback from fans and the FGC who have played this game over your uninformed speculation.

I think it's important to note that hype is a very powerful influence. KI may be great, but it's too early to tell. Everyone was gushing over SFxT prerelease, including plenty of FG vets.

He was just talking about what he liked from injustice.

they were talking about injustice's lobby and the producer said, he liked that feature and found strange reviews didnt mention that.

I only heard it in passing, but I believe the full conversation was a "The western Mortal Kombat Fighters do things like this, and the media ignores it entirely. We want to have features like that in our online, too." Comment.

There IS no XP or lobby for now, as far as is mentioned, so I don't think they could 100% confirm it being in, but it's an idea they are aware of, and will probably include.

They said they want to make matchmaking as instant as possible, and they mention that they think great online is something Western fighters excel at, so I'm sure they're prepared to go the full length with it.

Random Additional mention on screen: You'll be able to re-map your taunt button. It's currently on back, but they know that's too close to the "Start" button, so they want to let you have control.

Not a big thing, but it's nice to see how considerate they are of even the most miniscule of issues.

I'm not talking about hype, I'm talking about positive feedback of how the game plays. A mod (m0dus) who didn't like KI, posted positive feedback about this game just two pages ago. I haven't read a bad opinion about it from any hands on impressions.

When you add in the fact they were playing a five week old alpha and the devs are open to and wanting feedback on how to improve, then it's even more impressive.

I think they were talking about Mortal Kombat lobbies and how they want to do something very similar. I've never played the new MK so i don't really know what they are talking.

Ah, thanks. I had no idea MK/Injustice allows XP betting, that's actually pretty cool.

Apologies if my earlier post was misleading.

I am, too. And I'm saying that there was a ton of positive feedback regarding how SFxT played before release from the FGC. And that was also when Seth Killian was there and listening to the community.

I'm not saying KI is a bad game. I'm saying to take impressions with a grain of salt.

I'm really happy to see all the positive impressions. Hopefully Double Helix can make a name for themselves this way.

That's fine and all, but I was actually responding to someone who made a drive-by "all style, no substance game" post that was at this point completely baseless.

SFxT gets bandied around a lot on GAF as the reason that KI can't possibly be good or Maximilian is possibly over-hyping it. Killer Instinct is not SFxT and I'm personally inclined to believe people giving positive impressions are doing so because they've had positive experiences.

Isn't this DoubleHelix in name only, though? Are the new people with FG development experience brought in by Microsoft actually a part of Double Helix now?

Could be. I hope it is. I guess we'll see.
