Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | June 2013 | Late Ports and Late Threads

RemotePlay works over local network I thought.
You're mixing it up with Gaikai.

To be fair, remote play is a term with broad definition.
Remote play via LAN or direct wi-fi within a household is one, and via internet is another.
BTW Gaikai tech is applied to both cases, as Sony people say.

I'm dropping truth bombs on Twitter today (@IMissBionix)

Also, pretty pissed about Mercenary Kings only being on PS4. I sent Shahid that, and said I wanted it on Vita, lol.

I wouldn't be too surprised for something like it to come out as a later port. Heck, they could announce it before the PS4 release.

In reality, much of the reason why I'm not as sold on PS4, is because many of the indies I enjoy on Sony Platforms will probably appear to some capacity on Vita. Probably could even get many of the Japanese developed games.

Yeah, I wanted Galak-Z, Mercenary Kings, and The Secret Ponchos on Vita. Part of the issue is that Sony is using other studios to help port many of these games over to the Vita, and many of them (like Curve) already have their hands full with other games currently. Once they start getting their current projects out the door, stuff like Terraria, Stealth Bastard, Hotline, etc. Im sure they will pick up another wave of indies for Vitafication.

The fact that they're paying for those ports via external studios also doesn't paint a good picture to this indie strategy being sustainable.

The Plus price this week for asscreed lib is the price I have been waiting for. Diving in on Saturday when back from Vacation. Would rather get a physical copy but oh well.

So I've been looking at getting a grip attachment for my Vita to make prolonged sessions a bit more comfortable. Been tossing up between the Hori and PDP grips.

Does anyone here have hands-on impressions for either of these? Price isn't really a concern.

I hopped on it, but haven't started it yet -- except starting to grind the MP trophies to get them out of the way. I'm too absorbed with Darksiders 2 on my PS3 to start another full fledged game at the moment.

I'm totally thinking about jumping for Lego Batman 2 in this current EU sale. I remember reviews being a bit gash - is it worth it at all?

lol

Sony sent us a series of questions most frequently asked about the PlayStation Vita and the answers they give to it. No great revelation, but the reading is interesting.

First, Sony still does not want to reveal how the PS Vita were sold. She prefers to continue mixing sales PSP and PS Vita to announce seven million units at the end of financial year 2012. There is little doubt that the sales of the PS Vita is not as good but the company said qu'espérées not consider abandoning its console. She thinks that features like Remote Play and asynchronous or synchronous gameplay make the ultimate handheld companion of PS4. The Company believes that players will discover As immersive and social experiences exclusive system and be convinced.

It is clear that part of the difficulty comes from Sony's smartphones and tablets eating market share of traditional consoles. Sony, for its part, sees an opportunity: these platforms will drive the entire market. It is in this context that Sony launched PlayStation Mobile (currently available in nine countries), which can provide content for PlayStation Certified devices, including other brands.

Sony aims to increase the fleet of compatible machines and content in order to attract end users to the world and possibly its PlayStation machines. We are not convinced.

In parallel, the Company believes that the PS Vita allows immersion and a unique interactive experience, and the demand for dedicated consoles does not drop. It is the long term that the PlayStation Portable will be a place. This requires, says Sony, with new bundles and new color machines, new games, cross-platform with PS3/PS4 and services that are not in the game

Finally, do not expect lower prices in the short term in North America, despite the decline in Japan in February (Sony says nothing about Europe). Yet in the West, many retailers did not wait for an official announcement consistently lower the price of the console ... Including Sony Store !

All starting to sound really obvious, after the E3 stage presentation. Sony had an image for Vita in mind, and they seem to be sticking to it, regardless of what fans and owners ask for.

:|

both are horrible horrible games.

Hey, I really enjoyed Retro City Rampage, but I played it exclusively on Vita. I think it's perfect for Vita as others mentioned because it's great on the OLED and it's great in short bursts.

Imo they are doing it wrong with valhalla knights 3.
In every trailer, like this new one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGV7TIg6TEc

they show always the same environments and the same human enemies, while here
http://www.siliconera.com/2013/06/1...shots-accompany-a-story-summary-for-the-game/

you can see that there is at least a giant dragon and more environments.
The game already isn't visually stunning, at least show all that it got!

Yeah Valhalla Knights 3 looks great IMO but the trailers are just boring. One of my favorite ex-editors, James Mielke, told me he loves it (I really trust his opinion so). I'll probably be getting it at launch.

I see Takao finally awakened on all the bad E3 Vita news.

better late than never I guess.

I completely agreed with you on RCR before I played it on the Vita. Then I realized it was simply a mediocre game that was much better suited to the handheld arena. It didn't suddenly become a good game just because it was on Vita, but it became not an awful mess. Somehow.

The power of Vita.

The same for me but with limbo, i hated it on ps3, while on vita it feels way better.

This is a weird phenomena, never before a handheld make a game feel better for me than it's bad console version.

maybe I'm just not pure enough :(

Weird ?

Small screen -> higher pixel density -> old/low budget graphics look better
I'm only playing ps1 classics on psp/vita

No, they are saying these awful games are getting better (not graphically) on Vita.

Some games are more suited to portable platforms. I can understand wanting to play Limbo on Vita. RCR -- I played the demo on Vita and thought it was straight up overhyped garbage. So that didn't fix anything for me. :lol

Finally awakened? Takao's the most negative person on the Vita thread and has been for awhile. He's just not as insanely hyperbolic as you.

I agree that Takao negativity is a bit too much sometimes (when he go on and on about Capcom/SE/Namco decisions) but when it's about the Vita situation itself it's fine and actually needed here.

don't agree on the 2nd part, being realistic is a good thing.

I think some games are just better suited to handhelds. Doesn't make a bad game great, but it makes it more enjoyable to play. RCR was one of those times, I imagine games like Angry Birds and Cut The Rope are similar.

Hopefully this works - had a random email from Sony. Quote for a EU 30 day plus code. Please post to let others know if you claim it :)

Destiny of spirits right now at the PSblog livecast

looks like crap... Freemium

If Destiny of Spirits was a web browser game I wont even waste a click on it.

They even got this crap to have GT/Spike TV reveal (something that even Soul Sacrifice didn't get) yet they kept Freedom Wars in Japan, just tell you that Sony don't even know what to do with Vita anymore.
