Mega Man X is the most beginner friendly of them all... but I don't think that's what you are looking for.

I'd say Mega Man 2 since it's the most recognisable one, but please leave Metal Man for the very end. Metal Blade is overpowered.

Mega Man 2 and 3 are the ones most people played when they were kids, but generally all of the NES installments are pretty good.
Personally, I also really like Mega Man 7-10 and Rockman & Forte as well - I even think 7 is underappreciated despite being a really solid game.

So generally, all of the numbered installments and RM&F are all pretty good. The series formula is simple enough to not fuck it up.

Edit: I'm not mentioning any of the X-series or the other ones, simply because they're not classic Mega Man. :P

I feel Rockman & Forte snes is the easiest by far (from the ones I've played)

If you only ever play one classic-styled Mega Man in your life, make it Mega Man 9. That one is by far the best.

Otherwise pretty much all of the classic Mega Man games are good. 2 (the one which seems to be getting referenced the most in SSB) and 3 are probably the best.

Anything else that's interesting or of note from Joystiq or IGN that's different from what Kotaku reported? I read about the "don't expect many third party characters" and the "3DS may constrain the roster count" stuff but anything else I missed? I saw tripping was also confirmed to be out so yeah... if that's all today then it's cool.
 
Since gaf was dead though the entirety of E3, I haven't posted how FUCKING PSYCHED I WAS DURING THE MEGAMAN REVEAL!

Since they announced Snake and Sonic I was literally daydreaming of how awesome would be to play Brawl with Megaman, listening to the that fucking music with Willy Fortress in the background.

Earlier in the thread, someone suggested having various characters from Uprising talk and commentate on the battle, similar to Shadow Moses and Corneria.

I need that to happen.

I want that, because the CG they use is freaking masterful.

Mega Man 2, no question.
Then Mega Man X.

That will give you a good sampling of what the series is about. There are spin-offs, but they don't really capture the heart of what makes Megaman Megaman.

And I look forward to your LTTP.
 
I hope Sonic is still in the game so we can have Mario, Sonic, and Megaman all in the same game.

It'd be like that moment in The Avengers when Cap, Thor, and Ironman are all together for the first time in the forest.

Agreed. The way they handled the newcomers was great, especially WFT. Hoping they go for this style with each character reveal.
 
I completely understand that sexualized stuff should not and cannot be posted or linked. I agree about the locking the thread warning, but somehow the thought of someone going to the mods as if the thread was tainted irks me. It was just one person doing it and it didn't even get many replies. Yes, people said there was stuff about rule 34, but I don't see what's so wrong about some people just commenting about it existing; it's not like they went into great depths about it and if they want to check that stuff on their own, whatever. It was at no point the main topic of discussion. I don't know, something about paranoid whistle blowing always gets me.

Agreed. I think my favorite bit of CGI was seeing inside Mega Man's head, with the computer screen showing which power is active, and also the look on Mario's face as he struggles to maintain his yoga pose, lol.

Heh, thanks. Any chance MM2 is available on the 3DS eShop? I have a WiiU, as well, but after DKCR3D, I find I really like punishing platformers on portables.

Heads up, if you do play all those games. I remember one of the zero games being quite hard, like " ok this isn't even worth it anymore " hard. Also advent has ninja form in it. If you like ninja's go for it.It also has a t rex form.

Also play megaman 9 and 7

Little Mac isn't considered as retro character right? due to his new game for Wii.

Why mention the laughing dog?! Lol. I would seriously make a video complications of his deaths in cool ways. I hate that dog. :P

I wouldn't consider it, since he has a fresh game. People who haven't had a game in a long time are in as retro.

Hahaha. He may be one of most frustrating or annoying character in the history. That's why I want him to be in the game so I can use the taunt where he would laugh at opponents.

His Final Smash would be similar to Snake's perhaps? But with the NES Zapper soundeffects.
 
I never grew up with Mega Man but I've beaten nearly every game in the franchise and somehow Mega Man 2 is my favorite out of all of them.

ideal order spoilers

Metal Man > Bubble Man > Heat Man > Wood Man > Air Man > Crash Man > Flash Man > Quick Man

each boss is weak to the previous bosses weapons but most fall to the Metal Blades, there's a reason it was the first Robot Master Power featured in SSB4's trailer
