Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

They may have DLC for Smash but I like the idea more of not going in planing on having DLC

I think planning would be good in this case. It would be nice if they had hooks in place for DLC stages and characters rather than having to awkwardly work it in after the fact if they decided to do something.

Yeah, Wolf is more unique and I would like them to revamped his moveset. He used rocket launcher in Star Fox Assault for pete's sake.

I used to main Falco in Melee and Brawl so I hope that it really show how much I would value unique characters and welcoming new characters to replace Falco.

But it wouldn't really be replacing Falco. I just want more unique characters, but that doesn't mean Falco has to be gone.

In Fire Emblem Awakening, a new character calling itself "Marth" and wearing a mask appears, and it's one of the game's main characters.

Thinking about it though, the whole "Marth" thing is rather silly. There's no way that character would be included as "Masked Marth", rather than their later appearance.

Yea, we should call him Masked Marth.

I think the biggest technical hurdle for the 3DS is screen size.

A character like Ice Climbers or Olimar can clutter the screen quickly and hurt what little screen space they have.

Yea, I feel like the tiny screen is the problem, but I don't see how that is a problem for Ice Climbers.

I'd be ok with no Olimar. He just suck in Brawl. Or at least, remake his whole moveset, especially his specials. 2/3 of them didn't even do anything to other players, just summoning and recalling Pikmins, I mean... seriously?

Olimar was one of my mains. I disagree with this post wholeheartedly.

I was thinking the limited processing power was the issue at not being able to handle partner 'AI', such as nana from ice climbers and olimar's pikmin. I dont think screen size has anything to do with it.

That's not what was said.

That's just how I interpreted it.

"So we're forced into the situation where we may need to reduce some characters to a certain degree. but we're really working hard in order to include as many characters as possible."

Him talking about "as many characters as possible" in that same sentence makes me think that's what he was implying by "reduce some characters." But I guess this topic's already been discussed to death in this thread.

I can't imagine either character being cut. I wonder if they'll maybe reduce Olimar's max amount of Pikmin to 3 or something. I don't know what they can do to the Ice Climbers without taking away their whole gimmick though.

I'm pretty sure olimar was one of the best characters in the game.

Yup Peer from IGN said Smash Bros. WiiU has had the the most clicks of any game from E3 this year

Which is interesting considering Smash Bros Brawl wasn't even on the top 5 of the biggest selling titles of the Wii(unless im wrong). I guess the franchise is much bigger on the internet than something like Mario Kart.

Olimar's upper tier in Brawl, and he's the Miyamoto-created protagonist of a major semi-recent EAD series. He shouldn't go anywhere. There's such thing as an awful opinion, but good god...

it's not really a matter of tossing Olimar out, it's probably more he'll be reworked to have less Pikmin on the 3DS or not have them follow him as accurately or at all.

Olimar isn't going anywhere. Not after how much of a deal Sakurai made about how he was the most recent fight ready character Nintendo had back during Brawl.

Chrom can't truly replicate Ike's moveset well due to his lack of power, lack of a "fire" move, and his Aether being completely different.

If anything he'd be the middleground between Marth and Ike.

I don't think the 3DS' CPU is THAT weak to not being able to hand AI. There would only be one more character with Ice Climbers, and with the Pikmin, they only have to follow you, so it isn't that complex.

Fox is Ryu, Falco is Ken, Wolf is Akuma. They all follow a similar formula, but the first two have differences only immediately noticeable in competitive play, whereas Ryu/Fox and Akuma/Wolf have massively obvious differences even if they have significantly similar movesets.

I'd be way more down with Fox/Wolf than Fox/Falco.

I would argue that while in theme wolf maybe more akin to akuma.

As far as move sets go Wolf/Goken. While there specials and supers look similar to show that these characters have some type of connection. There are a few that act quite differently. And a lot of not all of their normals are competely different.

Or to be bit less rambl-ey Like goken having a shoryuken super, that ryu has to show that he has some type of connection with ryu, or a projectile super ( more like sakura's actually). Wolf has a blaster, a reflector and a dash move however these moves have different properties, and only the projectile acts the same if a bit slower. However everything else is completely different.

Akuma has a lot of moves in addition to what ryu has

Goken has different moves but has simular supers

Sorry about my ramblings

I won't lie, I would want him in if he can smack people around with ducks.

I know. I felt same :)

The rosters will have the same characters, as said in a Kotaku interview yesterday. But the 3DS limits the characters in some other way, or at least that what we're all guessing.

I'm concerned about that as well.

I also used to main Falco in Melee and Brawl, and I feel the same way as you.

Though, it's also the fact that I have zero interest in using him a third time, so his inclusion does not matter to me.

I want more unique fighters.

*bro fist*

Bowser looks so much better it's not even funny

bowser_is_backv3_by_cuban_legend-d68ns9l.gif

The fact that they've gone and made a character that I thought was pretty much dead competitively look good again gives me a lot of hope for this game.

I almost miss his "I'm from a godzilla movie or something" look and his tank dash though, almost.

Yeah, I'm very glad that Bowser look way better. I love to playing around with Brawl's Bowser. Especially with Suicide Bomb. I want MY WRESTLER BOWSER! DAT DROPKICK!

Yup Peer from IGN said Smash Bros. WiiU has had the the most clicks of any game from E3 this year

Good to know that! I was not sure which announcement would be the best. KH3 or SSB4 with Mega Man. I would go with latter one.

He is one of top 5/6 characters on tier list, so he's too good.

Melee was the best selling GameCube game, with Mario Kart in 2nd place. Brawl sold even better than Melee, but it didn't grow nearly as much as Mario Kart Wii. Basically, Smash didn't click well with Nintendo's expanded audience in the Wii, but it is the biggest game for Nintendo fans.

Damn I love my 3DS, and I couldn't be happier that a Smash Bros game is coming to it, but I'd rather have no 3DS version at all if it has to limit the console version.

Awful opinion? I just can't play him ok, i'm better with almost anyone else. Don't care much about "tier ranking" honestly, I just play this serie for fun, not competition.

Guys it's not worth trying to justify if a character 'deserves' to be in the game or if they should be in because they are part of a certain series, they put Wii Fit Trainer in the game.
Wii Fit Trainer looks pretty cool though
Any sort of logic you try to apply to your potential choices is irrelevant.

Also after seeing that pic, I really want Duck Hunt Dog in the game as a surprise WTF character.

This is true; Sakurai is pretty much just going to do whatever he wants.
This means that Waluigi has a chance

Not enough Palutena and Hades love in here.

Palutena is one of my most requested characters for this game.

Hades would also be awesome, but I'm not expecting him to be playable. I hope he's in the back of the Kid Icarus stage commentating the match with Pyrrhon and Viridi.

But Wii Fit Trainer absolutely deserves to be in the game, she made Nintendo earn more money than Samus and... actually a lot of the characters in the game.

Controversial Post: Clones aren't bad because they take significantly less development time to create. And ultimately they play very little like the character they are based on.

- she represents a part of ninendo's history

- her games did very well.

To be quite honest, she and villager make a hell of a lot of sense logically

Ike's "slow but powerful" style had nothing to do with his stats in Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn though, it was done purely for gameplay convenience of Smash Bros. He also never had a 'fire' move outside of Smash. Chrom would only really need a different Up B.

"Wii Fit is currently the third best selling console game in history (among games not packaged with a console) with 22.67 million copies sold as of March 2012."

Also, Wii Fit and Mii are the only new series EAD introduced for the Wii. It would be weird to not include a newcomer from the most recent console generation. Nobody expected her, but she is a good pick.

I've honestly got no problem with her being in the game. As you've said it makes sense and represents a lot of what Nintendo had done this past gen.

It's a shame doctor mario got removed in favor of his clone...
Agreed, his Fair was so much better than Mario's. I played as Dr. Mario way more than Mario in Melee.

I really like this idea from the pre-brawl speculation days:
Give Ganondorf's moveset to Black Shadow and completely redo Ganondorf.

Not enough Palutena and Hades love in here.

I know. I was hoping to see Palutena being one of first five characters being announced at E3. We were wrong. I'm still holding on the hope that she would become playable character someday. Same for Medusa and Hades.

Controversial Post: Clones aren't bad because they take significantly less development time to create. And ultimately they play very little like the character they are based on.

I would be super okay with semi-clone if they would make Medusa out of Palutena if she got in.

You know what I haven't posted about that I'm excited about is that FLUDD is BACK. Mario is one of my mains and the FLUDD brings the WRECKAGE!

Sonic is basically a 2nd party character at this point, with the licensing agreement they have with him, so he's more than likely a shoe-in, and wouldn't take up a 3rd party "slot".

No , Because there is a good chance I will be able to buy a sonic game on my other consoles very soon.

However sega and nintendo are cool with eachother. Though Nintendo is cool with a lot of 3rd parties.

Still waiting on my ff1 rep

In terms of Kid Icarus character, I'd much rather see Hades than anyone else; he was by far the most entertaining character in Uprising, and was a great villain. He's definitely earned a spot o the roster, I think.
